RB Pierre Strong CLE (1 Viewer)

Pierre Strong led the Browns in both snaps and rushes after Jerome Ford left Week 7 with an injury.
Ford was spotted in a boot after the game and has been diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain that will likely keep him out against the Seahawks this week. After he left the game, Strong saw 63 percent of the running back snaps with Karrem Hunt getting 34 percent, and Strong had eight rushes to five for Hunt. It should be noted that Hunt came into this came injured as well, so the Browns may have wanted to be cautious with him, but the team may also like him in that complementary role. Considering Ford could be one one or two games, Strong looks like a solid short-term add on waiver wires.

How much was the snap share a gimpy Hunt and how much was due to Strong’s ability?

This one feels like many of the recent RB waiver claims that we’ve all been burned on.

I’d hate to spend a lot on strong and have him end up like Evans/Mason/etc.

Cleveland likes to run the ball. This appears destined to be a 50/50 split.

Pierre Strong (and Kevin Harris for that matter) struggled with pass protection during training camp, and that led to both of them being left off the 53, with Strong being traded. Just thought it was worth considering Strong as RB3 to begin the season, and remained RB3 once Chubb went down and they went out and signed Hunt. Strong got carries as the only remaining backup to Hunt when Ford went down.

The Browns currently only have two healthy RB's on the roster including practice squad. I expect them to bring in another name or two this week similar to what the Rams did last week. Strong is a decent speculative add for the short term but I'd like to see who they bring in.

RBs Nate McCrary and Jordan Wilkins added to the practice squad.

Also worth noting that Kareem Hunt is dealing with a thigh injury. Kevin Stefanski expects him to be good to go for Sunday, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Strong gets double digit carries. Neither of the recent RB additions seem to be threats to Strong’s playing time. If they had traded for someone like D’Ernest Johnson I would’ve felt differently.

Anything here? The Browns are only carrying two RB? That's kind of weird. I know Jerome Ford will get the majority of the carries, but he won't get all the carries and would probably get tired if he played 100% of snaps. He has a career 5.36 YPC (73 rushes for 391 yards) and ran a 4.37 40 yard dash.

Hunt was getting 9 carries a game last year through 15 games. I was concerned with Foreman in the mix, but if it's just these two guys, I can't help but think this guy is going to get 9 carries a game. Browns ran the ball 518 times last season. That's an average of 30 times a game. Let Ford get 15-20 and Strong gets the inverse 7-12. I just know that one dude can't eat all those carries. Even if you gave Jerome Ford 17-18 carries a game, which they won't (or will they?), that's still 12-13 rushes available for Strong, the quarterback, and other guys on gadget plays.

I thought there was going to be an extra 12-13 carries between two guys (Strong and Foreman), but if he's going to consume that whole portion of pie himself then I'm going to dabble. He's free.

The thought is that they'll bring Foreman back after some miscellaneous transactions.

Wonder why a player that has been in the league would want to be that guy they bring back after they make these miscellaneous transactions? Gotta believe he would have at least a few teams interested in him. If they really really wanted him they would of figured it out without having to make miscellaneous transactions.

They are also currently keeping 4 qbs. No way they start the season with 4 qbs and 2rbs. Not getting too excited about the volume for strong at the moment.
