RB Rhamondre Stevenson, NE (2 Viewers)

Any concern about the weather? Sounds like there will be rain on what I assume is soccer field grass. Did we ever learn what the injury was? Would they sit him if the field sucks?

It’s in a dome.
@WhoCares from the top rope with the people’s elbow! It’s all over folks!
The NFL weather link on the Footballguys site says it's open, but after a quick google search, it's retractable. So I learned something new today.

I have options in a 10 teamer so I'm sitting, but I got this weird feeling he's going to erupt for 30 on my bench. But if I make the switch? 6. Why does it have to be like this?

THE ROOF IS OPEN! DEAR GOD, THE ROOF IS OPEN!

It’s football. I think they can handle it.

They cannot close the roof at Spurs, but they retract the soccer pitch and play on NFL specific artificial turf. So neither of these things are correct.

Was a full participant yesterday. Is he safe to start. And I hate London games.
Also the Patriots didn’t elevate a RB from the practice squad, as they did last week when he was out.

He’s good.
He will probably play, but I think he remains a game time decision. Last week, he tried doing some stuff and his injury flared up the next day. I am sure they will work him out before the game to see how he's holding up and determine whether he had any side effects from practicing.

Last update I got was “Rotowire) Stevenson (foot) is expected to play Sunday against the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.”
Stevenson was a full participant in Friday's practice and also outright said he'd be good for the London matchup, so Schefter's report isn't surprising. Obviously fantasy managers should still confirm his status prior to the 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff time Sunday, but the more intriguing aspect will be the playing time split between Stevenson and Antonio Gibson. The latter took 13 carries for only 19 yards in the Week 6 loss to the Texans with Stevenson sidelined, but the week prior Gibson was listed as the team's "starter" only for Stevenson to receive the bulk of the carries out of the backfield after the first drive. The offense figures to have far more dynamism regardless with rookie quarterback Drake Maye slated to make his second start.

That sounds more optimistic than GTD.
All due respect to Anarchy but he seems to me to be more of a glass half empty guy when it comes to the Pats. Though I’m always appreciative of his insight. I see the recent developments for Rham as a positive. Not only would I be surprised if he’s inactive, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have a nice performance for himself against this weak Jaguars defense.
Color me surprised I guess. This is going to be a year where Rham lays an egg when I start him and goes off when I bench him, isn’t it?

Yep, I just don't see myself starting him again unless I have bye or injury issues.

Unfortunately he's my first guy off the bench for injuries and byes. I really need one of my RB lottery tickets to hit.

I was being sincere - I found that interesting.

My bad, I thought you were replying to something else. All good.

After a stellar season in 2022, RS has been pretty mediocre since then. I get it, the NE offense, personnel, and scheme aren't that great. But is it only that? Stevenson signed a 4-year extension worth $36 million with $17+ million guaranteed last offseason. Stevenson isn't to blame . . . but I am not sure he is totally blameless either. He doesn't seem like he's the same player all that often.

Across the past two seasons combined, RS has ranked 43rd out of 56 backs with at least 150 carries in YPC (3.93), 37th of 40 backs with at least 40 total receptions in YPR (5.72), and 45th of 50 backs in yards per touch (4.22).

This season, he's been pretty ineffective. Of the 49 backs with 75 rushing attempts, he ranks 39th (3.90). Gibson ranks 18th at 4.51. RS ranks 48th of 52 backs with 15 receptions in YPR (5.09). Gibson ranks 7th at 9.79. And Stevenson ranks 42nd out of 46 backs with at least 100 touches in yards per touch (4.07). Gibson ranks 9th (5.38).

Moving forward, are people projecting him to return to what he was a couple of seasons ago or will he continue to put up pedestrian numbers in a pedestrian offense? The NE offense still needs major help on the OL and at WR . . . who knows what upgrades will be made and if that will help (game planning still an issue).

As a Gibson dynasty owner as of the beginning of this year: I'M AWARE!!! Been drumming my fingers on the table watching this guy continue to take the lion's share.

He reminds me of Lendale White

I hate myself for saying this, but I am probably going to try and buy low this off season.

I will too. He’s going to get overlooked at draft and be available for a modest price. Whether or not he can deliver in 2026 is a different. He’ll be a relatively inexpensive bet for a RB3 or RB4 with a good risk-reward ratio.

RS had an ADP of RB22 this year. Next year, someone will draft him thinking he will have fantasy RB15 upside (similar to last year and this year). He’s ranked around RB25 this year. He gets enough touches that he should stick around that RB25 mark. Unless and until he starts losing touches, he will continue to be pretty inconsistent from week to week. But I don’t see him falling to RB40 or RB50 in fantasy drafts.

I can see him getting a lot of competition next year given a strong rookie RB crop. Doesn’t even have to be a high pick, much like Rhomandre himself.

Yes. This is a huge concern.

I can a path here for an UDFA to see some time. And this is coming from a Stevenson owner.

A lot of Rhamondre talk in the Henderson thread if you want to read all that but I did not want to clutter the Henderson thread with more Rhamondre talk even if they are linked so will put this here instead.

This article dropped within last hour or so from The Athletic after today's OTA session:

Rhamondre Stevenson’s role

Stevenson provided the play of Monday when he hauled in a deep pass along the sideline from quarterback Drake Maye. It was a welcome return for the 27-year-old running back, who missed some practices this spring after the death of his father. Stevenson said he was appreciative of interactions with Vrabel during his time away.

Stevenson’s role for 2025 isn’t as clear as it once was. The team drafted TreVeyon Henderson in the second round, and running backs aren’t typically picked that high just to sit on the bench.

“Explosive guy,” Stevenson said of Henderson. “He’s learning pretty quick, and I’m excited for him.”

The starting job will likely be Stevenson’s when the season begins. But if he slips up — or has a fumbling problem like last season — Henderson could quickly take his spot.

“(The) biggest thing is ball security,” Stevenson said when asked about where he wants to improve. “That’s the obvious answer. But also just getting some wins under our belt and not shooting ourselves in the foot. And that comes back to ball security.”

It’s a new offense for the Patriots, but Stevenson is one of the few who was already comfortable with the scheme, given that Stevenson played for McDaniels in 2021.

“Josh and Bill Belichick yelled at me a lot my rookie year for this same playbook,” Stevenson said, “so I’ve got it drilled into me.”
