RB Rhamondre Stevenson, NE (4 Viewers)

Very frustrating player...he can be very good and very not good...real difficult to rely on him on a week-to-week basis...he will get another opportunity, but he has a short leash.

Rhamondre Stevenson rushed four times for 18 yards in the Patriots’ Week 3 loss to the Steelers, adding three catches for 38 yards.

Stevenson had a few key plays in this game including a fourth-down conversion on the ground and a 23-yard reception through the air. Those plays, however, will not be what fans remember from Stevenson in this game. The veteran back coughed up on the Pats’ first drive and then gave the ball away again in the third quarter. His second fumble came at the one-yard line and cost the Patriots’ a game-tying touchdown. Stevenson barely played after the second fumble, though he wasn’t benched entirely. Fumbles have always been an issue for Stevenson and the Pats have TreVeyon Henderson waiting in the wings. If head coach Mike Vrabel was ever going to give the rookie more work, it would be off the heels of disatrous game from Stevenson. Fantasy managers will have a hard time trusting Stevenson heading into Week 4 versus the Panthers.

Dude had secured his starting job last week and just coughed it up the next week.
Pretty sure he’s gonna be fine. It wasn’t a great thing to have happen, but I doubt he’s lost his job over it.
Shallow league .. would you send Rhamo to the FA list, if just for him being another rosters "landmine"? FAAB league.

For some perspective, Your other RB's are CMC, Hall, Quinshon, BILL, Tuten. PPR league, so this hypothetical team also starts JSN/London/Egbuka/TET/Rice

Thee only other drop on this completely hypothetical team would be Njoku; Warren is the starter at TE.

This team would be dropping Rhamo, to activate Judkins from IR, and then add Purdy for the backup week 7 QB.

I'd rather drop Njoku unless it's TE premium. RBs have more upside on your bench than TEs.

I don't know what to do with Maye greasing the balls before he hands them to the Pats RBs.
Vrabel wasn't happy when he discussed the fumbles and also mentioned players not blocking well sets them up.
McDaniels praising Rhamondre seemed like trade bait coach speak because I was in a negative mindset but maybe he is positive? No wait fumbles are bad that's not me misunderstanding.

Reiss has the rookie taking first reps in drills this week and even drills being stopped so that they're sure he's got it perfect. Usually the starter is first.

Fumbles always make fools of us in FF

Underdog NFL Vrabel:
Rhamondre Stevenson isn't on "any sort of discipline" heading into Week 4.
Sounds like coach speak. I’d be shocked if Henderson doesn’t have more touches this week.
Agree.

Probably wordplay or coach speak where he would not view it as discipline to scale back Ramondre and uptick Henderson but simply relative to performance with the fumbles being part of that performance.

NE RBs likely had to do overtime on 'punch-out' ball protection drills.
Read/heard (can't recall) that 2 of last week's 3 fumbles by the RBs were punch-outs instead of oopsies.

I don't think there was ever really a question about Rhamondre starting the game. The only thing that bears watching is the snap share and usage.

I could see an uptick for Henderson but, I wouldn't expect him to be featured just yet.

I hope that fat tub of lard fumbles this week.
-signed TreVeyon Henderson
On the WR side of the equation for the Pats, Demario Douglas, who was "uncoverable" in camp according to reports has 5 catches for 13 yards on 13 targets in 4 games. After his big week 1, Boutte has 4 catches in his last 3. Got to believe Kyle Williams could do better. Guess Vrbal and/or McDaniels aren't fond of rookies.

Truth. Douglas has seen his snap counts start to dwindle in favor of Williams. Perhaps more importantly, Maye and Diggs are starting to gel...and/or Diggs is starting to shake off the ACL rust. Henderson is starting to be patient and allow time for his blocks to setup instead of just running into his blockers. The O line grades for run blocking are actually pretty decent...and its really been a conspiracy between all three backs to underperform that I imagine is causing McD and Vrabel to provide "significant feedback" in the RB room :D.

Unfortunately, this is not a good week to be "just hitting your stride". The probabilities are: 20% Pats sneak a win, 20% Bills obliterate the Pats, 60% Bills methodically beat the Pats 27-17 or maybe 27-20 such that the spread is covered by NE.

As an nfl coach how can you continue to play him. I know he’s not doing it on purpose and I’m sure he’s working on it but facts are facts.

Maybe we should sell high? I think this might be the top performance 2 TDs... And hope people didn't see the fumble or know about Rha'Fumble're Stevenson.

The target should be someone that needs a bye week filler for week 6 Texans/Vikes or in week 7 Ravens/Bills. Take anything cause I think its pretty imminent.

The Patriots Bye week is week 14 so can't use that as the target date for switch at RB. Next thought is it might be TNF(For mini bye) on Week 11 but I think they target a switch sooner. Any Value will evaporate soon, Maybe use em as a throwin to squeeze some extra value. He can be marketed as a flex play Lowend RB2 atm- but I think that is the best light.

if no fumble I would have stayed the course. Fickle Football.

Tiki Barber had this issue and was able to correct it, spent all off season on it, so not sure Rhamondre can make any short term fixes but can be fixable.
Its a serious open question.

Fumbles by season starting in 2021: 2 / 4 / 1 / 7 (!) / 3 (to date)

Corrective action to fix fumbling was supposedly a pre-season focus area this year but it remains a problem. Now with Gibson injured the pressure to fix this OR to bring in another RB only ratchets up.

Most fumbles by a RB in a season: (most on the list are >40 yrs ago and some big names. Obv. the more carries, the more fumbles and if you fumble and aren't that good you'll stop getting the ball)

Do you know if that's total fumbles or just fumbles lost?

Think that's fumbles but using Google AI so take w/ grain of salt (tried pasting in the fumbles lost list but for some reason was getting error message)

#Patriots HC Mike Vrabel on supporting RB Rhamondre Stevenson:

“Everybody in America can say that guy stinks, he fumbled. But, are we willing to go and hold the other players accountable that are standing there watching their guy get the crap knocked out of him.”

(🎥 @SNFonNBC)
Odd thing for a coach to say. Not exactly "motivational" to the o-line which is who I assume he is talking about.

Got out of the situation and got Jordan Mason for better or worse.

"David Crow" should be "John David Crow". They're different people.

This is terrible to say out loud, but I’ve never wanted a player to pull up lame more so we can finally see what Henderson can do with a full load. How many fumbles will it take to sit this guy?

You've already seen what Henderson can do.

Nada.

One of the lowest ypc of any rb.
that's it, the book is written 5 weeks in. He's a bust!

Bad karma man. Never root for an injury. This will now befall your teams 10-fold.
I don’t really want an injury but how about he decides to go volunteer for the peace corps for the rest of the season? 😉

Too late brother. I’m just hoping I don’t have many of your players on my rosters now. Bad juju for real.
