RB Rico Dowdle, CAR (2 Viewers)

Rico clearly much better for rb than Hubbard..
Why don't coaches see what we see lol.

I own him nowhere, but wld be a bit ticked off seeing those splits with touches n Hubbard getting the TD.

they just paid Hubbard big time RB $ - they committed to him. Rico earned carries but Hubs is still the #1...
And Carolinas running game has completely stalled. Not sure why it should matter who makes what money when you're 4-3 and one back averages 6 years a carry and the other 2.5 ypc. It's not like the talent level is in doubt. It's clear as day. Glad they got their butts handed to them.

rico is on a 1 year deal. at this point just deal him. seems like the panfers prefer hubbard no matter what the eye test says. if that is the case, then they won’t sign him next year, so deal him to one of the 22 teams that have seemingly had their RB die.

Imagine him in the Kansas City backfield?

imagine anyone. maybe the jets deal hall there. panthers don’t need dowdle if they want to feed hubbard. but panthers and jets are brutal orgs, so……

Yeah, would love to see Dowdle end up as the lead back in KC or Houston. Automatic RB1.

One is a team captain just signed to big dollars, while the other is a one year rental. This coach won't bench their money back no matter how much better the rental is.

Trade Rico while his value is at it's highest peak. Pretty dumb to keep both as is since you can cash in some draft picks for next season.

It sure seems like Rico is the better RB. This is why draft pedigree matters so much in FF. I still say we may never have known who Kurt Warner is if Trent Green hadn't got hurt in that fateful preseason game. And just to add to Cleveland's legacy at the QB position, Warner was one of the 5 players the Rams left unprotected in the 1999 expansion draft when the Browns came back into the league. Cleveland passed. They took Tim Couch with the 1st pick in the regular draft.

Anyway, all that to say Rico hasn't caught a break and he might not ever catch one. It's got to be frustrating for him, not to mention his FF owners.

I think there is a high probability Dowdle gets traded. His value has never been higher.
NO ONE is talking about this scenario.
  • Recency bias showing upside as RB1
  • 1 year contract for CHEAP
  • Already turned 27 this year

This would have made some sense a few weeks ago but you got to read the room now.

He's now their primary RB on team that is one one game out of the playoffs.

Whole league could have signed him and his interest was minimal. Even a guy like Breece Hall would only likely get a day 3 pick back. You just don't get a lot for RB's in last year of their deals.

Long story short I'd say there is a low to almost no probablity he is traded because of what he means to the team combined with a low day 3 type return.

If they traded any RB at this point it would be Chubba.

I think they are starting to realize this should be the Rico show.

They gave Hubbard the respect he deserves, but at the end of the day, you do what's best for the team so you can win more games.

I'd expect a shift to Rico. Maybe next week it's more like 2 series Rico, 1 series Hubbard and if Rico continues to outperform the ratio migrates even more in his favor.
I sincerely hope this happens but, I'm not holding my breath.

Don’t know the exact splits but I don’t think I can read Canales quotes today and not come away 100% convinced that Rico is now the primary RB.

To me it’s a matter of how long, what happens if/when Chubba performs at least on par before it moves back to a more even split or in Chuba’s favor?

So I feel confident thinking Rico is the primary RB in week 9, but am taking this week to week.

ESPN front page NFL: Panthers likely to ditch RB shuffle, go with Dowdle

Chuba referred to past tense and we all know their best chance to win is with Rico not Chuba.

"Chuba has meant a lot to his organization, certainly to the identity that we wanted to build our team on, and we wanted to give Chuba the opportunity to go out and continue to impact our team in a positive way,'' Canales said as he began preparing for this week's game against the Green Bay Packers (5-1-1). "We cannot ignore that Rico has been exceptional in a couple of games, and then in the opportunities he's had over the last two weeks.
"He's made some excellent plays. Love the tempo and violence that he's running with. And these are all things that we're talking about and working through this week.''
"We have to respect the job that Chuba has done for us to get us to the point where we've established a mentality about how we run," Canales said. "And we cannot ignore the fact that Rico has made an impact when he's been out there."

"Whether it's 70-30, 50-50, 100 my way or 100 Rico's way - whatever it is, my focus is winning," Hubbard said, via Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer. "Obviously this has been a topic of conversation for the last few weeks. But my main focus is never solely about me. It's always about the team and winning games.

All that and also this, and I guess it's open to interpretation, but I took his "yet" to mean it's what he intends to do and has not "yet" got around to it, not something he's "yet" to decide to think about.

Dave Canales said he hasn't discussed with running back Chuba Hubbard yet what it might possibly look like with him taking a lesser role.

Panthers RB Rico Dowdle will start and get the bulk of the carries Sunday at Green Bay, per league sources. But I'd expect Chuba Hubbard to be part of the offense, as well.
Dave Canales strongly suggested this would be the case at the start of the week.

So they finally commit to it just prior to one of the toughest rushing matchups possible. Better late than never but what could go wrong here I wonder.

GB is certainly tough against the run, but Judkins, Jacobs, and Javonte all had some success.

Beware of “league sources” though as the ones reporting it.
