Luckily, I locked up a playoff spot two weeks ago. But the win today would’ve cinched the one seed. Now I need to win next week for that to happen..Says he’s fine for next week - not that it did us good today

Tough matchup versus Washington, but you’d like to think they’ll ride him in an enormous game with playoff implicationsLuckily, I locked up a playoff spot two weeks ago. Technically, I have not lost yet this week. Still quite a bit of game left and I have a lead. But I do hope he’s nice and fresh and rested next week.Tough matchup versus Washington, but you’d like to think they’ll ride him in an enormous game with playoff implicationsLuckily, I locked up a playoff spot two weeks ago. Saquon Barkley (neck) practiced in full Wednesday.
Barkley was yanked from Week 14's blowout loss to the Eagles after gaining 28 yards on nine rushes and catches two balls for another 20 yards. Expect Barkley to play through his lingering neck injury in Week 15 against a Washington defense giving up the league's second lowest EPA per rush. It's a tough spot for Barkley, though his goal line role should keep him in the RB1 conversation.

from what I've seen the last 6 weeks, without a TD he is under 10 pts. no imagination with screens, etc. It's run him up the middle or put him on the flat for a dump off which is always covered for a 3 yrd gain. Guy is talented like crazy, but this scheme screams of nothing there. IMHO. probably sitting him in a PPR league for a guy like C. Moore(lHouston). I don't need 9 pts. Need more & Wash. D is good. If your Wash who do you take away? Same guy you took away 3 weeks ago & beat the dog crap out of them, at the Giants. Sorry, this is more of a rant, but I feel better.Technically, I have not lost yet this week. Still quite a bit of game left and I have a lead. But I do hope he’s nice and fresh and rested next week.

your take?

It’s surprising that they don’t find ways to get Saquon the ball in different ways, especially considering how creative Daboll is. Then again, we don’t see what they see and it’s conceivable that with a patchwork OL and few other surrounding weapons, defenses key too easily on Saquon and force the offense to use other options. Doesn’t help us fantasy owners, but does explain some of the struggles.from what I've seen the last 6 weeks, without a TD he is under 10 pts. no imagination with screens, etc. It's run him up the middle or put him on the flat for a dump off which is always covered for a 3 yrd gain. They were getting blown out last week, and combined with Barkley’s injury, I wasn’t surprised he got a short hook. Saquon Barkley rushed 18 times for 87 yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ Week 15 win over the Commanders, adding five receptions for 33 yards.
Barkley handled a robust 26 running back opportunities in a game as close to a must-win for the Giants as can be in Week 15. His 18 carries and eight targets both paced the team. He saved his most impressive work for the final drive after the defense came up with a turnover in the red zone, ripping off three consecutive rushes of 12 or more yards as the Giants looked to ice the game. Although Barkley's receiving numbers are down this season, he remains a locked-in weekly RB1 in the scrappy New York offense.

SAQUON BARKLEY RB, NEW YORK GIANTS
The Athletic's Dan Duggan believes the Giants will rest their starters in Week 18 against the Eagles.
The Giants' playoff seeding won't change with a win or a loss to the Eagles after they clinched a postseason spot last week against the Colts. "The benefit of resting players is obvious. The Giants have nothing tangible to gain from a win, while keeping top players on the sideline will shield them from potential injury," Duggan said. "The benefits of going all-out to win on Sunday are strictly intangible. [Head coach Brian] Daboll is still in the early stages of instilling a culture that is centered on competitiveness. Treating a regular season game like an exhibition seems to run counter to that ethos." Daboll comes from a Buffalo coaching staff that regularly rested starters in meaningless regular season finales. If Daboll rests starters in Week 18, we can expect Gary Brightwell and Matt Breida to split backfield work with Saquon Barkely on the sideline. Tyrod Taylor would probably start for Daniel Jones, and reserve receivers like Marcus Johnson and Kenny Golladay could get extended playing time.

2 years into his 4yr/$72mm contract (thanks Dave) and Andrew Thomas still has more receiving TD's for the G-men than this guy.“reserve receivers like…Kenny Golladay”
That’s some high priced reserves - further proof of what an amazing job Daboll did with that albatross taking up roster space

Saquon Barkley rushed nine times for 53 yards and two touchdowns, adding five receptions for 56 yards on six targets in the Giants' Wild Card Round win over the Vikings.
Barkley read his blocks beautifully and made quick cuts to slice the Vikings' defense for a 28-yard score. He also punched in a 2-yard TD. Barkley only had nine carries, but his small workload reflected a Giants game plan that included a lot of passing and Daniel Jones scrambles. Matt Breida saw just three carries and wasn't a major factor. Barkley could see more work next week against the Eagles, with the Giants facing a defense that has had difficulty stopping the run all year. He shapes up as a high-end skill position play.

Saquon Barkley rushed nine times for 61 yards in the Giants' Divisional Round win loss to the Eagles, adding 21 yards on two receptions.
Barkley struggled to find any running room in the first half as the Giants fell to a 28-0 deficit by halftime. He would rip off a game-high 39-yard scamper early in the third quarter but would ultimately finish the game on the sideline in the lopsided playoff loss. Barkley finished the 2022 regular season ranked fifth in PPR scoring at the running back position but saw his volume dip drastically over the second half of the year. The Giants declined Barkley's fifth-year option, leaving him a free agent heading into the offseason. Dynasty managers are likely forced to hold the top asset through offseason negotiations as his fantasy value likely won't be higher playing elsewhere.

Can't blame him for trying as this will undoubtedly be his last big contract. When all is said and done though, have to imagine he'll have to back away from CMC money, especially when they can just franchise him for one year at around $10 million.
I saw that today as well. My rule of thumb for "leaked from a source" info during negotiations is that the team wanted to leak it. Sounds like they offered him the Joe Mixon contract at best.
Much like MVP, QB is rightfully always gonna take priority. At least Daboll won COY.Saquon Barkley robbed of Comeback Player of the Year is a travesty.
Wasn't Barkley's big injury in 2020? I mean, he played most of the 2021 season.Coming back form a major injury >>> coming back from sucking to be average. Make a Most Improved Played Award for situation like Geno, who BTW was nothing special down the stretch, where Saquon had the year of his career and established himself as a Top 3 back.
It should have gone to Brandon Graham. Barkley came back last year. BG tore his achilles last year at the age of 33. He returned this year at the age of 34 and had arguably the best seasons of his career. What did Geno come back from? He's been a backup, average qb his entire career. He had the best year of his career for sure. But he didn't "come back" from anything special. Barkley should have won.

Multiple seasons in one season? Didn't realize that. You've convinced this skeptic! I say he should have won all the awards. It should have gone to Brandon Graham. Barkley came back last year. A poopy career, removal a clipboard from his hand, and 3rd degree burns on his fanny. What did Geno come back from? He's been a backup, average qb his entire career. He had the best year of his career for sure. But he didn't "come back" from anything special. Barkley should have won.
Per reports the Giants and Barkley aren't really close. The Giants have allegedly offered 12.5 to 13 per year, Saquon is allegedly seeking 16 per year.
ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports "the belief" in league circles is that $14 million per season would be enough to keep impending free agent Saquon Barkley with the Giants.
That "belief" is not a "report," of course, though it's a fine educated guess. Barkley turned down $12 million per season in November, while the franchise tag for running backs is a paltry $10.1 million. As Raanan points out, that severely dings Barkley's leverage with the only team he has ever known, especially since Daniel Jones seems more likely to stay via a long-term deal than tag. Raanan also reports the sides have "re-engaged" in talks but made little progress ahead of free agency. The franchise tag period begins on Tuesday.

Many FA will be seeing Veteran League Minimum offers just to make a team. There are so many FA RB and Rookie RB options, No big $$ would be infused to deals. Can't blame Saquon for trying, but I can see them coming to some agreement around 14 million AAV.
The highest RB base salary for 2023 is McCaffrey at $11.8 million, with an AAV of $16 million. Saquon may not get paid as much as CMC, but it's a different environment for RBs now with a lot of supply and not nearly as much demand.
Yup - it's a bad year to become a FA as an RB if you're not at the top tier. Which for us as fantasy owners means a lot more frustrating RBBCs as quality guys wind up nudging into previously clear backfields. Many FA will be seeing Veteran League Minimum offers just to make a team. Rule of Supply and Demand... Supply has a massive SURPLUS!

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Saquon Barkley and the Giants "are not close on a deal" at this time.
During the midway point of last season, Barkley reportedly turned down an extension that would have paid out roughly $12 million per year. The Giants' star running back is seeking a deal that pays closer to the $16 million a year that Christian McCaffery received from the Panthers when they extended him in 2020, but may fall just short of that offer. There's some thought that an annual salary of $14 million could be enough to get a deal done between the two sides, although time is running short with free agency looming and the Giants likely to franchise tag Daniel Jones.

I’d imagine that gets many calling him the 1.01.Several fantasy folks have pointed out Miami as a team to look out for if Saquon hits the open market.
I probably wouldn’t not draft him there in redraft if true. that’s a bummer for rookie drafters though. MIA is a plush landing spot for a Gibbs, Tucker or Charbonet.I’d imagine that gets many calling him the 1.01.Several fantasy folks have pointed out Miami as a team to look out for if Saquon hits the open market.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports Giants GM Joe Schoen met with RB Saquon Barkley on Monday as the organization continues contract extension talks with Barkley and QB Daniel Jones.
"Positive meeting, by all accounts, with the continued hope from both sides they can make it work." It sounds like the priority in New York is to ink Daniel Jones to an extension, with the understanding that a Barkley extension would be the next domino to fall. Garafolo finished by saying, "Let’s see what happens with Jones first." It appears likely that either Jones or Barkley will be playing on the franchise tag in 2023.
