You bet it's a legitimate gripe. I too expected Jackson would play through the injury, but also expected an email update from FBGs if there was significant news. I had promised to spend the day with my daughter and was away from my computer. An email alert would have been sent to my cell phone, and I could have made a substitution.

I consider emails from FBG a benefit to me, not an obligation on their part. If you're in your championship week and serious money is on the line and you're relying on someone else to save you or inform you, then IMO you deserve whatever the result is.

From the subscription page. Seems like it's part of the price for subscribers. If they did not get the update quickly then the FBG's let them down. I work every Sunday. I always get the updates from fbg about players and rely on them because they are very important and it's disappointing that I didn't recieve a notice on this.

glad the team rose to the occasion and didn't need jackson's dependable 12 pts. i did call my opponent (frat bro league) and told him, but he was already tanked and on his way to the Eagles/Donkeys game and less than sympathetic about my problem...

this year's SJax was exactly like the FF phrase 'your 1st round picks rarely win you your league, but they can certainly lose it for you'.

Wanted to add that the emails are sent to my iPhone. I don't have time to sit at a computer on Sundays the emails have been reliable all year except when it counted the most......ARG!!!!

One thing I try to do is when I have a player who plays later, especially one who is questionable, I make sure I put them in at the flex position to give me that option if it is needed.If you had placed Jackson in the flex, you would have been ok.I was checking here, so I was able to swap C. Taylor, but I expected to see an email, and never did.

While you can say those that lost as a result of not looking can point to the shirt, it's disappointing that a site like this that prides itself in the product it puts out dropped the ball on this. If you're not going to send out emails on big breaking news every time, then don't send it out at all. To do so intermittently is just sloppy, IMO. It produces a false sense of security and can be much more harmful than helpful. And as I said above, I didn't have SJax going for any of my teams this week so this is not coming from a bitter owner.

Include me as disappointed. I checked the Saturday night updates and the Sunday updates. You can send a breaking email over the summer that Micheal Vick is arrested but not that SJax isn't going to play in the championship week of most leagues?!?It wasn't even highlighted in the Sunday updates...just an additional items on the Sunday Updates Inactives for STL. I didn't even see it the first time I went through it...

If you can get to email but can't get the internet on Sunday how will you make a lineup change? Otherwise ... emails are VERY often delayed so just check Rotoworld although they didn't break it until after the early games started too.

It wasn't that easy to find, apparently. I saw that he was inactive around 2:30 Central time and immediately texted my cousin who has him going in a 3rd place game. It took him looking around for a bit to find out for sure that he was inactive (I don't blame him for wanting to see definitive proof, as opposed to taking my word for it...I would do the same). So, stuff like that is not always that easy to find.

My only option would have been to swap out SJax for Reggie Bush before the 1pm EST games started. Instead I gambled on SJax playing because he'd played the past couple of weeks while being listed as questionable. As it turns out, Bush would only have scored me an additional 11 pts, but I'd still be behind by 40+ points in a Yahoo league.

I think the most disappointing aspect is the lack of an email from FBGs, although it would have been too late for me to do anything about it.

Pretty sure that's what I said ... if you can check email you should be able to check Rotoworld and other near-real-time fantasy news sites. If you can make a lineup change you can access these sites and shouldn't be waiting for email which tends to lag anyway.

This is it right here. They are advertising the many services they provide, but in fact have failed to deliver. I signed up for FBG because I want all my information in one place. I do not want to be reading pages of message boards, going to several different sites to confirm information, etc. On Sundays I have other priorites than sitting in front of the computer all day. Yes, we all could have checked CBS, Rotoworld and 1000 other FREE sites that provide very similar information and projections. Like I said before, I was caught up in other things and around 3:30 my starting lineup was not in the forefront of my mind. Had an email arrived, my phone would have notified me and I simply hit one button to check it. Regardless, the fact is I paid for a service, one of which is reason 5 of "Why I Should Subscribe".Anytime someone comes out to criticize the site there is always a crowd that believes FBG can do no wrong. I believe they dropped the ball here and should be called out on it.

Sorry but just now getting to this. A couple of things - we send out the Sunday Update email each morning about 12:15 eastern. It is usually just a copy of the Sunday Update page http://subscribers.footballguys.com/sundayupdate/ saying "this is what we have so far" and a reminder to check the website for anything that happens from the time the email is sent up till kickoffs.

We don't send another email for the 4 pm games. We of course notified folks that Jackson was out on the Sunday Update page before kickoff.

With that said, I understand that there are people that would also like an email. We are constantly walking the balance of sending things in email (repeating what is said on the site) without giving people what they think is "too much".

If I had this to do over again, I would have sent an email on Steven Jackson and just dealt with the people complaining we're sending too much info. I apologize to any of our readers that felt we failed them there. For a week 16 game, I assumed most people would be viewing our website for info. I hear what you're saying though about also sending an email and how we do that is something I'll look at for 2010.

Bummed that we didn't do as well as some had hoped there and send an email in addition to what we posted on the Sunday Update page.

As I stated above, I think it was disappointing it wasn't sent out. I see the reasoning behind the decision and I think the problem may lie in who decides what gets sent out in order to please the masses. You're always going to have people complain that it's either too much or too little no matter what you do.For this reason, I think this is something that needs to be setup by each subscriber under a "settings" area. Literally a big list of possible mailings that each subscriber can pick and choose that they'd like to receive. You have far too many subscribers to have one list that is going to satisfy all. For example, I don't need rankings and matchups emailed to me. I get them but ignore them. The times I want to see them, I'll just come to the site itself, not my inbox. At the same time, there are other things I probably would like to receive that you guys put up that I don't get emailed. Part of what goes on that list is the Sunday Update page. For some who aren't around, getting those updates via email is ideal. But, for the days I'm hanging around getting to watch the games, I don't need the email sent. Again, having this customizable would be ideal. Making it easy to change from week to week depending on one's schedule would be even better.

I posted a topic here for a recommendation as a result of what happened here: FBG recommendation.

I think something like that would go a long way to keeping a lot of people happy in getting what they need without sending out too much. Don't want to get all the emails? Uncheck the option to receive those and you're done.

I know Jackson was questionable, but he has been questionable for weeks and has played. This week was supposed to be no different. So this is basically the same thing except for one big difference. It was the championship for most FF leagues.

You send out an email about MSW early in FF season, but not Stephen Jackson in Week 16?

This "I don't want to send out to much info. into email inboxes" argument is extremely weak.

I don't own Jackson in any leagues so it didn't affect me, but I have been complaigning about these emails for a long time. The emails are the one in-season thing I need and why I pay. The site does say that is part of the pay package.

It wasn't a weak answer -- it was straight. The SJAX deal was pretty much a fluke and has absolutely no relation to MSW situation. FBGuys followed previous protocol, not sending additional notices then apologized for a regrettable outcome. Unforeseen stuff happens.
