RB Tony Pollard, TEN (3 Viewers)

Do I dare start him vs Hou over Henry or CMC?
Even in a juicy matchup on paper, I wouldn’t start Pollard as a timeshare back over Henry or CMC. The latter two have their offenses run through them so you know the volume will be there.
Pollard's last 5 starts: 33, 21, 36, 8 and 24 pts (24.4 avg)
Henry: 23, 8, 24, 13 and 5 pts (14.6 avg)
CMC: 39, 16, 16, 8, 28 pts (21.4 avg)

Pollard has indeed been on a tear, but with a healthy Zeke, Pollard’s touches will be limited and you need to keep relying on massive efficiency. With CMC and Henry, they’ll get the ball a ton and just need to fall into the end zone once or twice.

Tony Pollard rushed 19 times for 75 yards, adding four receptions for 31 yards on five targets in the Cowboys' Week 15 loss to the Jaguars.

Pollard led the Cowboys in rushing attempts, but Ezekiel Elliott remained heavily involved, with 16 carries and two targets. Elliott also scored the only rushing TD on the day with a nice 10-yard run. Pollard remains the best bet in the Cowboys' backfield but is in a near 50/50 split with Zeke. He will be a high-end RB2 as a bet on talent against the Eagles in Week 16. The Cowboys will almost certainly look to attack the Eagles on the ground, where they are far weaker than through the air.

He didn’t practice yesterday (thigh) and with it being a short week, I really hope he’s playing on Thursday. He looked fine in the game so i’m hoping it’s precautionary.

Tony Pollard (thigh) will practice Tuesday.

It's a good sign Pollard will be active for Thursday night against the Titans, though head coach Mike McCarthy said the team would be sure to get RB Malik Davis plenty of first-team reps ahead of Thursday's game. If Pollard suits up, he'll be a low-end RB2 with pass-catching upside against one of the NFL's most extreme pass funnel defenses. Dallas' 25.5-point total is the third highest of Week 17.

Reports are he didn’t practice after all - interesting.
Haven't see that yet. Everything I am seeing saying he was going to practice today.
My bad - should have clarified that there was an earlier report that he was not spotted at the open media session. Doesn’t necessarily mean he didn’t practice though - guess we’ll hear soon.

He was DNP today.
With this game likely meaning almost nothing for Dallas (and the fact that Tenn may lay down their starters too), I'd look for other options and bench him.
Dallas still could be the division winner right ? I don't buy it means almost nothing you never assume another team is going to win.
Now the fact Tennessee could lay down and sit starters might mean they feel they can win anyway but this it means almost nothing I don't buy for a second.
We have seen upsets plenty and assuming Hurts is out they can't assume Philly wins.

Dallas is gonna be up 20 by halftime. No reason to play him if he's got a nagging injury.

That’s what most said when the Cowboys played the Texans a few weeks ago. That’s why they play the games.

Houston Starters >>>> Titans Bench (hell, they might be better than the Titans starters)

this looks promising. It’s hard to sit him, even if he only plays the first half (assuming it’s a blowout).

It’s championship week, so it might help to discuss lineup decisions. In a standard league, I’m debating between Pollard and Jeudy in my flex spot. If we get word that he’s in line for his normal compliment of snaps, I’ll look to start him.

Definitely promising, but worried between Zeke and TN resting players that Dallas might get a lead and let the 3rd back run, that I can start him.

Pollard only needs a few touches to make things happen, although he’s slowed down as of late

Last time I heard that they almost lost to Houston

good point!

if he plays and has a good game on my bench, I’ll kick myself all off-season.

He got us here so i think you play him and it sounds like he is playing

You don't run on the titans you throw passes to the rbs instead of running...set up as the perfect pollard game
And there's the final news. Didn't practice again, WILL travel with the team and will test it out in pre-game warm ups to see if he feels healthy enough to play.

No way am I starting him.

in a normal week, he’d have two more days to rest. BTW, whose bright idea was it to schedule TNF in week 17. Totally moronic!!

Seems risky for sure. Even if Pollard tests ok during warmups, you’re still talking about a 50/50 share at most. I can see that being less than 50% for Pollard, with Malik Davis picking up some of the slack.

And after halftime, IF they have a substantial lead vs the Titans B team, then I'd expect him to likely get nothing after that.

This game will be closer than you think...teams just don't lie down and die especially a team like the titans

Hoping his situation is like Jacob's when he was held out of practice all week, only to have a huge game. The fact that it is a Thursday game is concerning tho. He is traveling with the team, and they have not activated or signed another RB. So there is a glimmer of hope.

Henry is doubtful for the game -- how does that impact Pollard's playing time? Does the game get out of hand early so Dallas rests him most of the game?

I think the news is more coach speak to keep titans game planning . Why would they risk him getting more hurt ? They are so close to the playoffs and have already clinched a birth.

Elliot is perfectly capable of carrying a bigger load and catching passes out of the backfield

You guys say these things every year and every year almost every player plays to about mid-way through the last game...it continues to be a rare exception to sit guys 2 games before the end of the season. dallas plays it's players because they are one week removed from almost losing to the texans...they are not a well oiled machine

I agree that teams wouldn't hold out a healthy player 2 games before the end of the season and that that's overblown. It just doesn't happen.

However this is an extremely rare situation where BOTH these teams have "almost" nothing to play for this week, but the main thing is that both players are HURT. If Pollard was healthy I have no doubt he'd play. I think he will be active and get a couple series' and that's it.

If they were playing all their starters than I agree. It really sounds like this won't be the case. They're all in vs Jax

From old yoda's mouth to our ears: Jerry Jones said "looks good for the game and the team is counting on him playing", according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.

If Pollard doesn’t play tonight, is anyone considering pivoting to Malik Davis? A bunch of key Titan defenders are out and there’s no reason to give Zeke a heavy workload. Davis has looked good in limited work and should get a ton of garbage time production in the 2nd half
