RB Travis Etienne, JAX (3 Viewers)

How do people feel about Etienne this morning in a tough matchup and now likely in a timeshare?

Sad that it’s come to this whether to start him, but things change quickly.

Out of curiosity, who are you starting - or benching - Etienne over?
Benching him behind Bijan, Gibbs, Swift. He is behind Godwin too, for me. Need to see something better to have him starting again.
Yeah those are obvious ones. More curious about tougher decisions.

Etienne is projected 0.1 higher than Swift in our CBS league for some reason.

I decided to roll with Etienne over Diontae Johnson and Jake Ferguson, my flex options.

I think the fact that he's been hurt and still seeing like a 60-70% snap share plus all receiving work is a good sign. Idk.

Yeah those projections are often tough to figure.

I think the receiving work you mentioned is a hope for ETN in case they can’t run on the Bears and face a pass-happy/negative game script.

Hmmmmm......
?

His share was 70-70-70 then he was hurt. He was above 70 until injury two weeks ago, ending at 52 for that game. Injured, he was at 38 last week.

I think there's at least a chance that with the injury designation removed he's back up to 70. If I'm wrong, hopefully Bigsby goes to 70 and we can start rolling him out going forward.

Bears run D hasn't been what it's shown in the past lately. I think Etienne finds some room to run today.

Secondary is banged up, so I think the Jags and sustain drives.

I think the biggest mistake of all was not believing what we saw last year, which is a garbage coaching staff and a horrible OC. Every time I watch these guys I wonder why I did it. Blegh.

I mean...he got hurt. I came into the week thinking above that it would be nice to get him either healthy or just injured and out.

Unfortunately, he got injured right after coming back healthy and taking most of the snaps in the first quarter.

The weird part was Johnson leading the backfield after, and not Bigsby. Idk that I understand that.

Jax coach isn’t very smart, but is smart enough to beat the Colts.

It has been brutal year thus far for you Etienne owners
In dynasty, I just offered a 2025 second round rookie draft pick for ETN which was turned down so at least some folks think he has value down the road.
I was offered a likely late first + change for him two weeks ago, then he offered again after the bad week last week. He offered his first and second together but I still wouldn't really consider it at this point. Our league leans heavy toward RB's, I assume yours leans heavy away.

He's done. Bigsby has looked better all year and it's not even close. Now he's hurt probably for a few weeks.
Can't even hope for a trade at this point.

Bust

I find the situation puzzling. Bigsby isn't special and he's obviously not trusted on passing downs.
Honestly think they still want ETN to be the guy......he just isn't playing well right now.

You don't really have to be special to be an effective RB, and Bigsby's rushing metrics have been as good as anyone in the league this year. Besides, I don't think anyone can realistically say Etienne is special either.

I'm not sure why Bigsby isn't being used in passing downs - maybe they don't trust him protecting Trevor just yet.

We assume rationale coaching but I wouldn't w/ Peterson, he definitely has his backs that are gamescript dependent. ETN is the one that until Bigsby emerged was gamescript proof. However that has changed. Bigsby is the back where he should benefit from neutral to winning w/ a lead games and ETN is good for catch up more pass heavy games and D. Johnson we saw is his backup.

Basically this sucks, but if same regime is here then we can at least spec on what Jags will need to do each game, which is needing to play catch up most of the time because the D is bad.

Truly a rock bottom opportunity to trade for ETN. Good job if you were able to trade ETN away.
I am curious how many would trade Bigsby away if he has a sell high opportunity.

Plus big brain move might be what to do when Pederson eventually gets fired or coaching change happens, They play in Lon next week and I can see the flight home being the time to do so. ala Robert Saleh. Firing coaches on the way back home might be a trend.

Meh. He's been hurt since Week 2 or 3. And the team sucks. And the OC is horrible.

I'd love to see him on the IR like Nico and for the Jags to clean house when they get back from London.

My point is, when ETN went out, it surely wasn't all Bigsby. Johnson had one less carry and two receptions.
Not a huge sample size, I get that, but Bigsby has been completely irrelevant in the passing game.

Lots TWO matchups for me this past week with his goose egg.
Rest him til he’s fully healthy and then unleash him, pretty please.

Not much to unleash. This team is not good and he has been average at best. Unfortunately, I own him in two money leagues.

I think it's reasonable to assume that ETN is not getting his job back when he returns, at least as the primary RB. That is, unless they change coaches by then and the new one has an affinity for ETN.

It looks to be headed towards Bigsby 1st and 2nd down. ETN 3rd down. Don't see either having much value ROS without an injury to one.

Ugh. This guy and R White were both staring at me in the face all offseason as obvious sells and I just tried to hope they would not disintegrate like this.

Even got awarded a nice "TIE" this week thanks to the -.1 total ETN was able to muster this week.

Hooray!

Not sure what I'm doing with him, but He's going on time out for at least now!

And D'Ernest may have worked his way into a permanent fixture in the RB rotation.

Exactly.

The Jags elevate Jake Funk from the practice squad. A possible sign that Etienne will be inactive. Those desperate for RBs, consider D'Ernest.

I got Tank.
All aboard the Tank ……Bus?
I got Tank Dell too.
Hopefully it will be a Tankfully Day.
See what I did there?

D'Ernest Johnson is a play for those in desperation. A few receptions and up to 5-8 carries. He got some early carries in prior games.
