RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson, Free Agent (3 Viewers)

Wait, people are still starting this cat?!

Firmly planted on my bench. Didn't even consider him at flex, and in looking at Taliaferro or Hawkins.

I'm not completely giving up, but I need signs of life before I give him a chance.

I think he got hurt on the kickoff return two possessions earlier. The screen where he aggravated it was his first play back in after that.

Can't drop him in dynasty. Can't trade him. Nobody wants him. Can't start him anymore.

I guess he really does suck. he's an athlete that can't play WR. Damn.

He should be dropped in leagues with short benches. Guy is far from being a fantasy caliber WR. Half his points came off of a run in week 1. The Hype train is coming to a stop for this guy.

I would gladly have traded Brady for him. Bridgewater will make him relevant again soon. He is too talented. Just stashing him on my bench until he wakes up

In dynasty he is a great buy low. You could get him for just about anyone right now. I'm an owner and fine going down with the ship but I'm not giving the guy away for peanuts. Even if peanuts are delicious.

The owners are usually the believers. For that reason, your two statements here don't jive. Why would most other Patterson owners be different from you?

WHat in hell dynasty leagues are YOU playing in where you can get him for peanuts from other owners??

I'd give the guy at least a couple more games before losing faith in him. The guy has had 3 different quarterbacks in 5 games, so hard to build a good rapport. Give him a couple weeks with his upside and Teddy, and he may start paying off.

It's moronic to give a guy like Asiata as many carries as they did yesterday.

Bridgewater might be able to get something out of him.

A league where people try to take advantage of others when their players are struggling? Have you been reading these posts??? People are considering dropping him. I own him in my league so just basing it on some offers where he is now a 'throw in.' I would be a buyer at these prices. That was my point. Don't get lost in my hyperbole. Haha.

What dynasty league is someone considering dropping him?? Even redraft, unless its 10 team with short benches.

I thought I read someone up there was in a dynasty league. Maybe I'm wrong? The point is that this is the time to go out and get him. I think he will never be cheaper than right now.

I dont know. I play in serious leagues, and nobody has even lowered their value of him for dynasty.

completely droppable now

the overhype on this kid here in the shark pool will be something talked about and dissected for years

He just isnt that good

Nobody that owns him that is.
I doubt that. They are bluffing would be my guess or holding hoping for signs of a turnaround. Beginning of the season he was being drafted as a high WR2. Especially in dynasty leagues. If the draft were today he would be a WR3 at best. At the beginning of the season, no owner would have traded him unless getting an offer that blew them away. I think his value has changed. I mean you know what I'm saying a little bit, right?

Ghost guy, this is what I'm talking about. I don't believe this, but pantherclub does. Are you in a dynasty league?

just redraft

For those of us with limited bench space there is no way to justify keeping him around. He just isnt that good as a wr and aside from a few fluke games where he has good rushing stats unless something catastrophic happens there is no way you would ever start him with confidence.

For dynasty I have no clue what you should do but redraft he most certainly is droppable at this point. He just isnt that good.

Yes, dynasty leagues. In the leagues I am in, the Patterson owner is not selling cheaper than a month ago. I have asked.

BUt hey, if people wanna sell cheap before we actually see him play with an actual QB, by all means, I will be there for those sloppy seconds................but like I said, I play in serious leagues where people dont piss a guy away after he does nothing with Cassell and Ponder.

I'm with you. I am going to wait until he gets a steady dose of Bridgewater.

I haven't seen anything stating CP is the Vikings' WR1. Only that he will "be showcased" and "has figured out how to be a pro". Am I wrong about this? Please show me where the Vikings said "He's our top WR" or "he's our #1 WR". I'd like to see that.
Here's the most direct suggestion I've read on "Patterson is the #1". Agree or parse at your discretion:

Greg Jennings hands No. 1 receiver baton to Cordarrelle Patterson

Posted by Michael David Smith on June 23, 2014, 9:31 AM EDT

AP

Last year Greg Jennings led the Vikings with 68 catches and 804 receiving yards. This year, if all goes according to plan, it will beCordarrelle Patterson who serves as the teams top receiver. And Jennings welcomes that.

Jennings told ESPN.com that after talking with head coach Mike Zimmer and offensive coordinator Norv Turner, he could see that the new coaching staff wants to make the talented Patterson the focal point of the passing game. Rather than grousing about having fewer passes thrown his way this year, Jennings has taken it upon himself to impress on Patterson that he needs to be ready to take a big step up in his second season.

I wanted him to know that, coming in, the expectation of you is no longer rookie. Its, You gotta go. We saw what you can do. Were gonna showcase this, Jennings said. For me, it was making sure that he understands that he has to be a professional. He has to be a pros pro when he steps foot in this building, because were expecting [him] to give us what weve seen you put out there.

Patterson wasnt always the most consistent player as a rookie, but he was dynamite with the ball in his hands: Among his touchdowns were a 79-yard reception, runs of 33, 35 and 50 yards, and kickoff returns of 105 and 109 yards. Jennings said Patterson needs to be given more opportunities to do that.

Im going to be honest: Once I saw him make a couple plays, Im like, Weve got to get him the ball. He does too much well for us not to get him the ball, Jennings said.

It could be said that more passes thrown to Patterson will mean fewer for Jennings, but Jennings isnt worried about that.

If Im having success, its going to open up the door for success for other guys, Jennings said. If Cordarrelles having success, its going to open up the door for a lot of other guys, as well.

Pattersons success (or lack thereof) will be a major part of the Vikings success (or lack thereof), and Jennings knows that part of his role as the veteran in the receiving corps is to pave the way for Patterson to take his place as the No. 1 receiver.
Apparently you stopped reading any post that don't agree with you a long time ago. You asked for this, got it and then chose to ignore it. I'm well aware there are people who believe Jennings is to still the WR1. Funny that Jennings doesn't seem to think he is, no?I never said that Patterson would equal his YPR from last year. I predicted a nice drop, actually.

You keep saying that Patterson doesn't have down field skills but isn't simply isn't true. He does and flashed those skills latest season as well as in college. He needs refining on his downfield route running. There is a difference.

You want to bet on 1200/11 as if it this the baseline we are talking about. I just flat out told you in that post that I fully acknowledge I/we are being optimistic. You are creating a stawman here.
:goodposting: If he really wanted to make a bet and put his balls on the line, he wouldn't set the over/under this high. Happy to bet someone $50 on CP having 1200 total yards and 8.
I didn't set the numbers. Did you read the previous posts?I will happily take your bet (no return yards), because he will not get 1200 yards my friend.
No return yards needed. You have a deal.
He's going to need to pick up the pace significantly or this will be a landslide win and mail it in finish.

Well this pick did not pan out for sure. Without AP the offense has no identity. I thought CP would benefit with AP and an average QB. They don't have that yet at QB and since they are not even trying to get him the ball he has very little value unless return yardage is counted. I should have picked Watkins. Oh well, you get some right and you miss on some. Moving on.

From the limited games I've seen of him, his route running/technique is very rough. I'd leverage part of that to him coming out of college early and never really being in a spot where he couldn't mask this deficiency with his athleticism.

Now in the NFL, he has a lot of work to do especially in press coverage. I thought Dez struggled his first couple years against press, but CP takes "struggle" to a whole new level. Everyone knows he's dangerous once he has the ball, which is why teams are now pressing. Since he isn't breaking the press, teams aren't even forced to play a safety over the top. Once he learns how to beat that coverage it will open up the deeper plays. Not just the fades, but back shoulder passes, digs, etc.

He's firmly planted on my bench. I don't see him doing much until later in the year if at all.

I am in a return yardage league so he's going to the bench but I agree with the rest. There's too many environmental factors detracting from his (potential) value to expect things to just magically turn around.

Going to have to agree the targets and touches just aren't coming. I can't figure out why. He's getting open and the QBs just never seem to be looking his way. Swing and miss on this one. Anyone hear the injury update yet?
