Nah maybe a late second but that's about it. You're better off waiting until he has a big game and trying to get an early 2nd maybe. He might not have that big game this year.

Told a GB of mine that I would not want to risk starting him and getting 4 points for my trouble. I tried to warn him.....told him leave him on the wire.

I have absolutely ZERO regrets and am glad to be rid of this guy... Completely bamboozled me, and to be honest, I dont see him ever being worth it anymore.
So would you get a first? IMO, you wont get anything more than a 3rd, or maybe a 2nd if a guy wants to swing for a Home Run cuz hes got a ton of picks

Guys, don't trade him for a 3rd. Please. Only way I could justify that is if it's while the draft is occurring and there is a guy sitting there that you really want. Besides that, you're most likely going to end up landing a guy that won't contribute to your team. If you're most likely going to have a guy on your team that doesn't contribute, then wouldn't you rather it be a guy with out of this world talent like Patterson?

Really frustrated with him, to the point I've considered outright dropping him. If your dynasty team is battling for a playoff spot, or is in the playoffs, you cannot count on him. And you may have waiver wire guys out there that would help your team THIS year in the stretch run. Idk. So aggrevating. He seems to be regressing and that's not good for his dynasty outlook.

You may be right, but I don't think his career is written in stone yet. I still stand by my point, I don't see any reason to ever trade him for a 3rd rounder (ahead of time) straight up. It's different if you're packaging players. But trading him straight up for a pick isn't worth it unless you're at least getting a 2nd. My opinion won't change even if he doesn't catch a single pass for the rest of the season. This season is lost. Maybe this off-season he will have a fire lit underneath him and he'll really work on the aspects of his game he's lacking.
I personally wouldn't sell him for anything less than a 1st, but I know I wouldn't get that so I'll hang on and either ride to the promise land or sink with the ship.

I'm sure they'll find a way to free up space for more help at WR. Teddy is the franchise and I can't imagine they're rolling with Peterson and Jennings as the top two options come next September.
I have too many other goo keepers on my dynasty team to keeps project like Patterson. I think he has a chance to put it all together but I'm not banking on it the point where I'd keep him over a guy like michael floydqho is a fringe keeper for me. Floyd is already a good wr, just not being utilized correctly. Patterson...all we know to this date is he is an athletic freak who has no idea howo to play the wr position in the nfl.
I can see his career trajectory similar to that of a Devon Hester or josh cribbs at this point.

Are you going to take it? I've never played in a 32 team league, but being the 20th+ guy off the board is essentially a very late 2nd or 3rd rounder, which would make me lean towards no. Not sure how valuable picks are though in leagues that deep. Are you guys drafting water boys in the 3rd round?

Well, unfortunately I don't really have that option at this point. The offer was sent hours before the trade deadline and I was driving so I didn't see it until it was passed. I would have thought about it ratty hard. One of the picks was top 10, I think like 8. The other was around 20. I've mortgaged this team and already have 5 1st rounders for next season including the 1 overall. IMO pretty good at RB so I might have justified pulling the trigger by assuming Patterson for the 8 and Robinson for the 20.

I'm in a 32 team league as well and I own CP. He was my #3 or #4 overall rookie pick and I'm paying him 9.4 million dollars! Been trying to trade him all season and I can't get ANYTHING for him! I would have tripped all over myself if someone offered me a late 1st! Hell, I'd take a late 2nd! I picked up Donte Moncrief with the #21 pick last year and I'd much rather roll the dice on getting a guy like that then holding on to CP.
I wanna drop him so bad due to his salary, but I'm heading for the playoffs and we get points for kick return yards so I may need him if one of my WRs gets hurt. I'm kinda screwed.

Do you have 10 man rosters or something? Of course he shouldn't be dropped in dynasty. This season has been an utter disaster but one has to put him on the shelf and hope for a third season breakout. And if you have lost all hope then trade him to a believer. I'm sure there are plenty of owners willing to give at least a 2nd for him. He was being drafted in the early second in startups this August. That kind of value doesn't totally evaporate even though the season is a train wreck.

Yes, depending on price I'm also a buyer. I still think there are a lot of owners that will refuse to give up on him unless they get a 1st round pick or comparable value because they have so much invested in him, but when draft season starts I'll look to make some moves. I think his value will depend quite a bit on what he shows in the remaining few games. If he flashes again and get a couple TDs he might be impossible to get for a sensible price as owners will get their hopes up for a third year breakout. If they pretty much bench him as they give up on him for this season he could become great value this offseason. Which is not unlikely, btw. The season is all about preparing game plans. There's no time to teach a receiver how to run routes.
It can't be overstated that he was, and still is, raw. At some point here it also must be fair to question his football intelligence. Last season he started off slow but got all those TDs towards the end of the season which caused his value to spike even though his production was coming off of very rudimentary usage. He wasn't running any NFL routes, it was pretty much all through the running game, bubble screens and kickoff returns. The expectation was that he'd have a nice learning curve ahead of his sophomore season and that Norv Turner would maximize his potential by making him more of a deep threat and versatile receiver than what he was last year. He could be the next Josh Gordon.... It clearly hasn't worked thus far. It could be because he is still raw and that he is struggling to learn the new playbook and passing concepts just like he struggled to learn the playbook last year.
I need to sit down after the season and study the tape because I simply haven't watched enough Vikings football to tell what the problem is. That whole offense has been very rough though. There hasn't been much yardage or TDs to go around. They are in the bottom three in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. His PFF numbers don't tell a horrific story at all. His aDOT is 10.7 which is slightly below average but not like last season when it was 8.5. My impression was that he's been largely ineffective this season and his PFF catch rate is 57% which with an aDOT of 10.7 is not great. But it's still practically the same aDOT and catch rate as Mohamed Sanu so it's nothing alarming. Sammy Watkins is at 12.8 and 54%. Steve Smith is at 11.8 and 59%. Patterson has only dropped 1 pass out of 31 catchable balls which is top 10 in the league. He's had 7 targets at 20+ yards where only one was deemed catchable (caught for 28 yds). The average yards after catch is at 5.5 which ranks 30th among WRs, down from being ranked #7 last year at 6.6 but still not bad. Not great, but not bad. His problem seems to be volume as he only has 53 targets which is about the same as Terrance Williams, Wes Welker, Davante Adams and Brian Hartline - volume that makes it impossible to be much of a fantasy performer unless you have a great vertical QB and/or is in a great offense with plenty of RZ targets. He's had 3 red zone targets this season. Red zone, not end zone. That's less than Jason Avant and Donnie Avery. Patterson has been a massive disappointment but even if he had been good this season he still would have been bad for fantasy purposes as long as that offense is so weak.
His production last season only really came when they were totally out of contention and they decided to give him a lot of action. At 5-7 and with a decent ROS schedule I'm not sure if they're at that point yet. Zimmer still seem to be firing on all cylinders. Patterson has clearly not earned the trust of the coaching team but is he a lost cause for dynasty purposes? Not at all. I love being in leagues with owners that bail on these types of players where you can scoop up post-hype guys at a discount. Some of them never materialize but when you hit on these transactions you're getting fantastic value.

I'm on the fence for his prospects for dynasty purposes. He hasn't played much football since he started college, so he's clearly still learning the nuances of the game.
That said, by this time with two full years under his belt, he should have shown *some* kind of improvement in his WR ability. I think it's too easy of an excuse to blame it on the playcalling or Bridgewater. One can say that Patterson's inability to get open is stunting Teddy's growth, not the other way around.
History is littered with tremendous athletes that just don't have what it takes to be a good NFL - which obviously requires more than extreme skills. It's not out of the realm that with good coaching, Patterson can get there. But I'm pessimistic that he'll get there.

Absolutely. There is plenty of reason for concern, at least with the expectations many had going into the season. Some of those scenarios are already shattered. But that offense is awful as a whole this season. There is no way around it. I agree that we should definitely have seen more improvement and I'm not blaming it on the playcalling or even Bridgewater when you look at what kind of situation Bridgewater has been put in. But I don't think it helps that Patterson is learning his second NFL playbook in two years, playing in an offensive coordinator's first year, and that OC has a rookie QB, rookie RB, a TE that has been injured for most of the year, revolving doors at LT and LG...it's not a pretty situation. Sure, he probably could and should have performed better, but the situation has hardly been ideal for him to have his breakthrough season so when people are suggesting that he's "safe to drop for dynasty" I feel people are going waaaaay overboard.
