RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson, Free Agent (2 Viewers)

doesnt seem consistent enough to start in a ppr league. Besides the long td, he was sitting at 4/40.

Anyone have the stones to roll w CP this week?
I'm... My league counts return yards though. So he has little more value.
I want to start him for the same reason, but I'm worried teams will start kicking away from him or even squibbing. Looking at his game log, it doesn't seem to be an issue yet, except against Chi a couple weeks ago. I expect the Eagles will be kicking off a lot this weekend.

In none Kickoff return yard leagues, is anyone thinking about rolling him out? I am, figure with issues at RB and probably falling behind Philly they throw it alot this week

Me, but I'm fully aware that his floor is super low. In fact, a couple of the weeks in which he found pay dirt he only put up 10 points.

I also question whether or not Cassel is good for him. RW seems to think so but I believe Ponder looked towards him more when he was starting.

Of course the match-up is great and both AP and Gerhart are huge question marks (well, we know AP is very unlikely to play) but Patterson is a high variance play regardless. If you believe yourself to be a huge underdog and need a swingy flex I think he's a great fit.

I'm giving strong consideration of starting him in ppr, non-KO league over Crabtree and Amendola. I may chicken out and go back to Amendola given Gronk's absence. But the Vikings are done and they have this new shiny toy that they are testing out. I could be way off base, but I sense that they're going to feed him to see what he can do. Sky high volatility with this potential start.

Rotoworld Excerpt:

It really is nice the Vikings are getting the ball to their playmaking rookie Cordarrelle Patterson. He leads the team in targets over the last five weeks and had his biggest game of the season in Baltimore as he caught five of seven targets for 141 yards and a touchdown.

I am.

I had a bye last week, during which I lost both Welker and Gronkowski, so I'm getting desperate. I picked up Tamme to start in place of Gronk and am going with Patterson and his upside in place of Welker.

I don't really have any reliable alternatives.

Torn between him and Amendola in a PPR league... part of me thinks Amendola sees more action given Gronk is out... part has me terrified NE sputters (Starting Vereen over Andre Brown as well).... ugh.

I too am torn with who to start in my Playoffs this week (non return yards PPR league) between Patterson, Amendola, and Hilton.

Hilton and Amendola haven't done much the last month, so i'm considering rolling with CP but not sure if I'm just deluding myself into thinking he's a better play than he actually is (although I know he's certainly a high variance play). The vikes are at home and going against a bad Philly secondary and the RB's are injured. Also, the vikes have a bad defense so they will likely be in catch up mode and i can certainly see them having to throw in catch up mode in the second half. He reminds me a bit of justin Blackmon at the end of last season when he put up some really nice performances.

Consensus is/was once Patterson earns opportunity, he will produce. It was just a matter of when he earned it. He's earned it and will be a big part of the offense the last few weeks of the season. Problem is, it's still the Vikings offense.

Im rolling with him this week ppr league

Im the #1 Seed and I'm down by 43pts points to the guy that barley made playoffs, so im putting in all my Home run players in and going YOLO

Spiller in for SJax

Patterson in for Jordy

How are you down 43 points? The games haven't started this week.

I'm thinking of doing something crazy. I absolutely love him this week. All the signs point to a big game in my mind. Being targeted more lately, going against the worst D against WRs, star player hurt, coming off first big game.

The Vikings are out of it, their star player is not going to play, this is their second to last home game, so I expect to them to feature their rookie first round pick that they traded up for.

My projection: 125 rush/rec yards, 2 TDs

I'm thinking of starting him over Jordy Nelson(if no Rodgers), Danny Woodhead, and Ryan Mathews in a non ppr.

First step to pulling the trigger is benching Woodhead and Mathews tonight.

Am I just trying to make a hero call and over thinking it? Or is this making sense to anyone else?

i wouldnt bench Mathews for him ....Patterson is a complete roll of the dice...at least with the SD run game you know what your getting....its not flashy but its consistent

If Denver gets out to a big lead, I don't think they will just continue to roll out Mathews when they are throwing almost every down.

In my mind Mathews would have to get his yards early.

Guessing he plays in a league that scores playoff games by rolling over points from Week 14 and adding them to the Week 15 points. Not that uncommon.

I hope whatever you decide works out for you...i may use Patterson as a flex...havent decided yet

I'm rolling with Patterson over Cruz in a start 3 WR ppr with every 30 yds returning also being worth one point... I see him getting carries on top of maybe 4 or 5 carries.. I don't trust Cruz against Seattle and I need to swing for the fences a bit in this league

Where will CP rank among WRs next year in dynasty and redraft?IMO, by 2015, he will be in the conversation with the top WRs outside Calvin Johnson (used to be in his own tier, but may now include Josh Gordon)... AJ Green, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas. The shoe fits as far as length, explosiveness and playmaking ability (former teammate Justin Hunter also fits these criteria and could have an extremely high standing by 2015, if not quite that high).

Trying to decide between Patterson and Rogers.

As of now, I'm going Patterson. Feel like absence of Peterson and a banged up Gerhart could lead to a substantial amount of touches for Patterson. Might even get 4-5 carries, who knows.

the vikings have won three ROY awards in the past 15 years (including two of the last six)... keenan allen, eddie lacy and gio bernard may all still have a lead on patterson, unclear if he could make up the ground with three remaining games?

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/235675531.html

Five Vikings, all offensive players, have won AP Rookie of the Year: running back Chuck Foreman (1973), receiver Sammy White (1976), receiver Randy Moss (1998), Peterson (2007) and receiver Percy Harvin (2009). The latter two are the only non-quarterbacks to win since 2005.

Patterson would be the eighth receiver overall and the fourth Vikings receiver to win the award since it began in 1967. But there’s much more to Patterson’s campaign platform than just playing receiver. For example, he:

• Leads the NFL in kickoff return average (33.3). Second-best is 30.6. No other rookie leads the league in any major statistical category.

• Leads the NFL in kickoff return touchdowns (two), including an NFL-record 109-yarder.

• Has the NFL’s two longest scoring plays: the 109-yarder and a 105-yard return that’s tied for second place.

• Is one of only two rookies, along with Rams receiver Tavon Austin, to score three different ways this season. Patterson has two touchdowns on kick returns, two on receptions and one on a 33-yard run from the tailback position.

• Ranks No. 2 in the league in all-purpose yardage. With 1,629 yards (1,199 returning, 395 receiving, 35 rushing), Patterson trails Eagles running back LeSean McCoy by only 115 yards heading into Sunday’s matchup.

Now

Starting with confidence, they're playing for nothing and they're taking the chains off their future. Patterson is going to be a game-changer, he'll get plenty of opportunity as this Eagles game should be competitive.

I agree...end arounds...screens...straight handoffs and receiving

I think we might be overcoaching here with this guy but part of the fun of FF is doing stupid moves like this and watching him blow up like last week. I'm mindful of ceiling versus floor and right now but will start him in a non-KO but PPR league over Ben Tate in the Flex. I'll mull if over though...

In my flex, Im torn between Toby Gerhart (if healthy and AP sits should see touches), Jericho Cotchery (Bengals secondary is hurting, 7 TD's in last 6 games), or Cordarelle Patterson (might be only option if Gerhart and AP sits, coming on of late).

Our Playoffs are 2 weeks each round

Last week. I had Reggie in as I checked my lineups at noon....news didn't breakout until 1230

Everyone had the Pats D vs CLE - That gave me -4pts

RG3 - didn't do anything

and the guy I was playing against had Josh Gordon and D.Thomas

I'm rolling with Patterson in my flex, mainly because I don't really have anything great to put in that spot. The fact I'm in this rd of my playoffs is a miracle. House money this point on.

I'm seriously considering starting CP over Jordy Nelson in my 0.5 ppr league. But Dallas defense is so bad even Flynn might have a decent game.

Went to bed early, so woke up early... and saw NFLN reporting both Peterson and Gehrart likely out. This do anything for Patterson?

Probably hurts him a little since there are no other weapons on Minnesota, but he should get force-fed some touches, and could even be involved in the running game a few times.

He's still a pretty high upside play as Minnesota probably knows he has to have a big game for them to keep up with Philly

No AP no Toby + Philly's offense

Hopefully they'll be down by 50 at half time so they'll be forced to throw on every down

Putting him as my WR2 over Jordy since I need to go YOLO this weekend

I don't know that AP and Gerhart out benifits Patterson. That's just more talent the Eagles D doesn't have to worry about and can put focus elsewhere?
Ummm...someone has to make plays with those 2 out
