Packers coach Mike McCarthy thinks "there's more to do with" Ty Montgomery.
The Packers finally let Montgomery loose last week, and he responded with 162 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries against the Bears. Even when James Starks (concussion) gets back and Christine Michael becomes more comfortable in the offense, the Packers would be foolish to use Montgomery as anything but the clear lead back. Montgomery is a top-12 option either at running back or receiver this week.

Thats a tough one. I am trying to decided between him and Sanders in a PPR league as well. I would probably go with Ty in a non-PPR league.
I am currently starting DJ, Ware, Miller.....I'm worried about Miller's ankle. But I'm worried about your point too.
With regard to allowing FF production to RBs, Minnesota pretty much IS Chicago.
Chicago has allowed 17.4 FFPPG to opposing RBs (non-ppr); Minny has allowed 17.0.

Minnesota and Chicago have played the same schedule except for 4 teams. Minus those four for each (Carolina, Chicago, Arizona, Washington vs @Green Bay, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, San Francisco), the remaining 11 games add up to:
Chicago = 276 Carries 1238 yards 12TD
Minnesota = 242 Carries 962 yards 5TD
Minnesota is not Chicago. You are far more likely to score a TD against Chicago. Before for Minnesota gave up two TD's last game, it was an even bigger discrepancy.
I have Montgomery in a league where he is WR only. I'm playing Kenny Britt and Desean Jackson over him this week. Britt has a good matchup, Montgomery has a bad one. Green Bay doesn't run the ball enough, and I don't think TY will get in the end zone. Thanks for getting me to Championship Ty!

Not sure why you want to just discount 4 games. They've both played 14 games & given up very similar FF points to RBs. Perhaps a higher % of the points Chi gave up have come via TD, while a higher % of Minny's have come via yardage, but they are still FF points.
As far as it (TDs allowed) being closer before Minny gave 2 TDs last game, you do realize Chicago gave up THREE TDs last game, right? The TD difference was actually smaller before last game.
Plus, a lot of Minny's good performances vs RBs came earlier in the year. They are currently 22 in FF pets allowed to RBs for the entire year. They are 11th over the past 5 weeks.
GB has a good RB matchup, not a bad one, as you believe.

I also have Cooks. Cooks and Ty carried me to the final. Rolling with Cooks, Desean and Britt in the final though. I just see a 13 carry 40 yard game with 3 receptions for 20 yards for Ty.

One of my standard leagues I'm debating him or Ajayi. It's for third place so I'm not too obsessed. Wish I would have used him over Ajayi last week...then again, I just picked him up off the WW.

Last week Montgomery carried my team to a win. I needed that last week; hopefully I don't this week. I'm starting him as my WR2, hoping for 10 points (non-ppr). More than that is gravy. As seen last week, he is just as likely to have a blow up game as any of my other options, & I like what I perceive to be his floor better.

So what do you folks think about Montgomery's utilization next year? He's not a stud at RB. Not a stud at WR. But is he useful enough to supplant Chubbs Lacy a little bit? Will GB try to figure out how to put Lacy and Montgomery in the backfield at the same time? Do they have any of these play currently? I don't watch enough GB games to know.

What are some thoughts on Ty going forward now? I assume GB changes his number and officially makes him a RB right? I'm not in a dynasty league but am in a contract keeper league where I would say the majority of players are kept in the 2-4 year range. I'm trying to figure out his value (I own him) and whether I should shop him around and hope that the Packers bring someone in to be the feature back and maybe he becomes the change of pace back or do I give him a 2-3 year deal and bet on him having a major role.

My best guess is that unless a bizarre confluence of events happen again that result in the team having no running backs at all, Ty's value is going to take a serious nosedive.

I don't know, best rb on their roster and the gm is about 4 years behind fixing anything. They've only needed a mlb since Montana retired.
I've been consistently saying, even when it looked like his role disappeared, that the genie was out of the bottle and he is here to say. I thought and continue to feel the reduced workload he got for a few weeks was mainly due to sickle cell issues than coaching decisions and/or return of Starks.
Only question remains is if he's going to get a chance to be the full time back or is looking at more of a Gio or Theo Riddick type role. My personal belief is something like Gio is what he'll end up being, a little more than a 3rd back or COP but not feature back. I'd feel pretty good about chances the Pack bring in some solid RB comp, in large part because Ty has had issues staying on the field. Other than sickle cell issues he's got a bit of an upright running style and does not shy from contact so staying on the field has some challenges for him and why I think he's probably not a feature back thought I think he'll be given a shot to win that role I just think more of a Gio type role in his future and that's got real value.
And in terms of position I'm operating under the assumption he's going to be classified as a RB.

I think he could have PPR value next year, and I like him, but he's exactly the type of player I love to throw into a bigger trade to get it done. In fact that's exactly what I did with him this week.

But if you must pick between the two... Michael is a FA after this year and MOntgomery is under contract. Chances are GB brings back Lacy, keeps Montgomery at RB, cuts Starks, and drafts or signs a young RB to bakcup the two

I don't either. Actually I think Green Bay moves him back to more traditional WR role. They love Swiss Army knife type players. If he can provide RB depth from the WR spot, they would probably like to keep him as WR. From a contract standpoint, I don't see any way he would want to move to RB. WRs make more money and play much longer. I think he goes into next season as WR3 or 4 on the Packers depth chart. And they carry 2-4 running backs including Ripkowski.

Montgomery could not have a bigger swing on value for 2017...everything revolves on what Green Bay does or doesn't do...if they bring in someone legit he takes a huge hit...if it is just Lacy than Montgomery has real value but you won't know much value until you see how Big Eddy looks in camp...if it is someone more complimentary or only a mid-round pick than his value skyrockets...this kid is beyond intriguing and I think with his skill-set and an offseason committed to the position he has a chance to be a real quality RB...right now his fantasy-value is in a holding-pattern until you see what the Green Bay backfield looks after free agency and the draft...
