Really strange internet problem..... HELP! (1 Viewer)

Try it on a different network. Like your neighbors.
Haha, I was going to, but they are all secured.

I can get in from work, and when I turn off my wifi on my phone, so it has to be a router problem.... I think, but I don't know how to fix it.
Call your ISP and ask them to grant you a different external IP
Yea they were no help at all. I asked them reset my IP address and they said they couldn't do it and that it wasn't a Time Warner problem because they could access the site from a couple of different TW computers at their home office
It wouldnt be a time warner problem. But if your IP was flagged by the site and blocked for some reason(this happens for many reasons) then until you get a new IP from them, you may still see the issue. If you could get access to a VPN, you could test and confirm this. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/ Is really good(i use them) and worth the price. This could confirm whether the issue was indeed environmental or not.

You could also try releasing your IP address on the router, and turning it off for about 24 hours. The idea is that the IP will be assigned to someone else and you will get a new one. But that may not do it if the lease is longer.

The other thing you can try is factory resetting your router. that will rule out any issues in the router. I got my money on your IP being the issue.

Try taking your laptop somewhere and logging in somewhere that provides free wifi and see if it works there. Same sort of thing happened to me with YouTube about a month back. Then I went on a trip where I had to use public wifi, got on to YouTube fine and when I came back the issue was no more. I can't make any logic of it but perhaps it may work for you.

OK, did this, bought it for a month and it is running now.

The webpage still does not work.

Clear all your browser cache or download a different browser, flush your dns, reboot, then connect to the vpn and try it again. Also before you connect go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and confirm that once you connect to the VPN your IP is different.

you also might try connecting through another part of the country or even another country all together, but clear all your cache and cookies before you try again, because the site may be leaving something behind.

Report back after this.

I ran Crap Cleaner, flushed the DNS, tried 3 different browsers, verified I was on the VPN, webpage did not work.

Your last sentence about connecting through a different country, I decided to try it. I connected through Switzerland.

Webpage works.

WTF :tebow:

LOL. Looks like they are blocking certain IPs. If you can get time warner to change it, then it should resolve your problem without needing the VPN, now that you have verified that is the issue.

I will call them again, but they said they could connect on their computers so it wasn't their problem.

I still can't connect on my phone wifi, is that odd?

So you think the problem is with TW?

Its not with TW. but the problem is certain IPs have been blocked/flagged. Not sure how, but maybe they detected malware. Whatever the case, the site works when you connect to another IP(switzerland) with nothing else having changed. Its quite possible your wifes phone IP was also flagged somehow.

When techs from TW try it they are doing so from an IP that probably hasnt been flagged/blocked so they are right it isnt a time warner problem. If they give you a new IP its likely your issue goes away(as it did when you tried your VPN). However, the question is, why is this site flagging these IPs, and will the site flag any future IPs.

Ok, I think I get it now.

Thank you so much. I think I am going to try unplugging everything for 24 hours and see if I get a new IP.

When I was talking to them I asked for a new IP but was told they couldn't do that. Who knows, I might have been talking to a nobody.

Thank you again!
