Not a movie, but a series: Battlestar Galactica 2.5.

Seriously, if you're not watching Battlestar, you're really missing out.

Get caught up and enjoy the new season starting in October on the SciFi channel.

The World's Fastest Indian

Not bad. Feel good story about a guy who came to the salt flats in Utah to try to set the land speed record. Very feel-goody. Anthony Hopkins was very likable. Not much action in it, but you have to cheer for the guy just to get there to make his run. Not my favorite genre, but still a decent movie.

Underworld:Evolution

If you liked the first one, you'll love this one. The action has been kicked up, awesome effects and Kate is hot as hell. I thought the first one was good, but this is much better. It's more of a horror movie than the original.

Awesome! I ####### shot that!

Beastie Boys concert in 04 at MSG in NY. They gave a video camera to 50 fans and the only rule was dont stop shooting. They compiled the film into one movie. Very cool. You can hit the angle button on the remote to switch to other cameras and sometimes they show the screen split 50 ways. One dude caught Ben Stiller rapping along " suckas always say they can take out Adam Horowitz"

Also good extras. They show clips of fans outside of their shows on their worldwide tour. Jack Black is pretty funny outside their show in australia.

I just watched Annapolis.

It has every cliche from every military movie I've seen in the last 20 years (even a hint of Rocky) but it still had a good story, few funny lines, feel good movie and was worth a rental. I'd give it    out 5.

Finally saw Ronin. I'm a big DeNiro fan but this was one of his that I never got around to seeing. The movie itself is nothing special but it has some of the best car chases I've seen in a long time. No cgi here, just the real stuff.

Good movie, nothing special. two and a half stars.

That's exactly what I would say about Ronin. Not great, but a very good car chase that's worth seeing.

Brick- Horrible, do not watch this movie.
Just a boring, dreary film. The essence of a good film noir is a dark plot with actors that are good enough to pull off a sullen, brooding tone. Well, Brick tells me that 20 year old actors cannot do this material.

I thought Ronin also had a very good cast.Just saw Dark City. Different with lots of atmosphere.

Dark City rocks. Listen to Roger Ebert's commentary if you have a chance.

For the first time ever I saw the original Wicker Man. I thought that it was well done. I hate to see what they did with the recent remake though.

Watched Downfall this morning. Very good movie although it seemed a little long. Amazing portrayal by the actor playing Hitler. The acting was very good, but I just didn't think it was gritty enough. It just didn't seem completely authentic, looked a little too cheesy at times. Mostly in the bunker.

Still a very good movie and worth the rental.

Watched Primer last night. Low budget flick about time travel. Not really sure I understand it fully yet. Decent low budget flick with a cool idea.

Anyone else who has seen it care to explain it to me?

If you liked Seabisquit, take a peek at Dreamer. It was ok, my kids enjoyed it.

*** SPOILER WARNING *** Dakota Fanning is one of the major characters.

Just wathed Hard Candy. Holy Crap. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Can't really go into it witout spoiling it.

Next up:

Boondock Saints

Rounders

United 93 - one of the most intense and amazing movies ive ever seen

im adding bloody sunday to the top of my queue

its by the same director, about the IRA

has anyone seen that?

"where the truth lies" with kevin bacon, colin firth and alison lohman. not so good.

i am a huge fan of atom egoyan films. i still rank "exotica" as one of the very best films of the last 20 years in fact. this film is just a mess and i found little redeeming value in it. firth and bacon play a comedy duo along the lines of martin and lewis who are destroyed by a death of a young woman. 15 years later their story is about to told.

pretty much everyone is miscast. plot is weak and overwrought. lots of nudity but little else going for it. steer clear.

Watched it 2 years ago...I still can't figure it out.

that's as dense a film as i have seen. i understood about 1/2 of it and i think i'm being generous with myself.
I couldn't take my eyes off it. Mulholland Drive-y in its ambiguity and question-mark-over-the-head-ness.

Little Miss Sunshine

meh. C+. it wasn't what i expected. there were some funny moments. but all in all it was more depressing than funny.

i am really surprised by your lukewarm response to it. it is a very gentle kind of comedy for the most part. it's not high comedy or art for that matter but i found it very funny. i found it vaguely affirming and sort of feel good.

I liked it too. Depressing at times, laugh out loud at others, and I agree.....affirming of the family when you got nothing you still got them.

The little girl from this was on "Gray's Anatomy" last night. She's really cute and a good actress, too.P.S. My wife watches the show.
