Buried 2.5/5 kept you interested, decent story, must have been a cheap movie to produce

Considering the movie, if it kept you interested you dont think it deserves a higher rating??I liked it a lot, was basically non-stop suspense. I could see how some people would get bored since the movie takes place in 1 scene/area basically, but if its keeps your interest, I dont see how you wouldnt enjoy it.

2.5 - 3 means an average movie to me, which means it was solid but not outstanding.

The Adjustment Bureau: Oof. Not good at all. Big Matt Damon fan and he was solid as usual in this. I liked the concept of the movie but the execution was extremely lacking. Every time they tried to explain what was happening it seemed so forced. Anthony Mackie was just awful. It felt like it needed to be a bit longer to flesh everything out properly. 1.5/5

Yeah unless you're into the chick flick aspect, which was Andy pointed out was executed well, the rest was garbage. At the home theater, we saw Saint John Of Las Vegas last night. Not great, maybe not even good, but enough Steve Buscemi character portrayal to make it worth watching. Wish they could have found someone else to play the Sarah Silverman role - not a fan of her. Also wish they could have had a few more Dinklage scenes - he was good in this.

I love a good western but just couldn't get into True Grit. I wasn't a fan of the original so I probably shouldn't be surprised. The girl played it way too strong imo. Bridges was good but I think Matt Damon was miscast. It wasn't as "gritty" as I picture the times, especially up against a show like Deadwood. A bit disappointed. 2/5

I gave Boondock Saints a shot due to the love in this thread. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood but with all the over-the-top acting I only made it about 20 minutes in. Maybe I'll give it another shot one day but what I saw was really bad.

Honestly, I can lose myself in a stupid movie like this. Clearly, the intent was to make a ridiculous, over-the-top action flick. And I'm not saying it failed. But all I think watching this kind of flick is that they could have paid for five good indy films with the money it took to make Knight and Day.

Moon- Yeah, I'm late to the party. I've had it DVR's for 6 months or so and finally got around to watching it. Very well done movie and a nice change of pace. I enjoyed it. Would have liked a bit more time spent on why Sam started seeing visions and what his deterioration was all about.

Knight and Day Blech. Only redeemable thing is Cruise doing his own stunts. That's not enough to justify this movie's existence (which segues into: )

Centurion Gorey Roman era "chase" movie. Mildly entertaining if you like sword clashing, arrows through the head fun. Not a great movie by any stretch though.

I think that the concept was a bit more revolutionary (not quite the word, but close enough) at the time than it appears today. The idea of "what is existence" was done better in The Matrix but the examination of the concept itself was done interestingly, if grotesquely, in ExisTenz.

I was just talking about that latex TV screen effect to my wife after seeing something CGI fail at trying to do the same thing. I really liked it when it came out too, even though there's a consistent B/Grindhouse-Movie quality to most of his other special effects that borders on laughable in comparison to the effort given over to the conceptual side of his movies.

Saw this for the first time a few weeks ago after many beers at happy hour and enjoyed it (the movie and the beers). I guess the beer took the edge off the over-acting and helped suspend disbelief. Definitely in the Crank / Transporter / Kick ### genre of over the top action and fighting movies

Radiation. That's how the previous clones had died. Radiation would probably explain the hallucinations too, but I thought it was a little "supernatural" and out of place that he saw a vision of his daughter current day.

Liked this a lot of first watch, but revisits tell me I bought into the hype. This movie's rewatchability is surprisingly bad. Im not if that means I bought into the hype the first watch, or its more like movie unlike its actual genre, say superhero, where once you view it, its not near as interesting.

Good stuff. Either way I enjoyed Boondock and will continue to do so unashamedly.

The sequel otoh sucked Hulk nuts.

Why is it when Tarantino rips off Scorcese or any number of Asian film makers it's called an homage (or giving a nod to) but when someone does it to Tarantino it's a rip off?Tarantino didn't invent the revenge genre and it won't die with him.

Besides, Tarantino has been a cheap knock-off of himself for years. The last good movie he directed was Jackie Brown.

I think even the most jaded viewer should appreciate Dafoe's performance at the very least. Great character.

I doubt any viewer would appreciate the performance after turning the movie off less than 1/4th of the way through.A big pet peeve of mine throughout this thread has been people reporting back about how awful a movie was after the first 15 minutes and then turning it off. If you don't have the attention span to at least sit through the movie, at least have the courtesy not to complain to us all about how bad you thought it probably would have been if you watched it.

That said, 2001: A Space Odyssey was freaking awful. Turned it off after 15 minutes.

I enjoy Boondock Saints every time I watch it. Fun story, good action, funny dialogue and Dafoe is awesome. What's not to like?

will never understand the hate for Dafoe in this. i thought he nailed the role perfectly

I enjoy Boondock Saints every time I watch it. Fun story, good action, funny dialogue and Dafoe is awesome. What's not to like?

Perhaps I am influenced by my enjoyment of the documentary Overnight about the Boston bartender, Troy Duffy, who wrote Boondock and thought he had become an overnight success story and then proceeded to burn every bridge and piss away every shred of his success. Good stuff. Either way I enjoyed Boondock and will continue to do so unashamedly.

The sequel otoh sucked Hulk nuts.

Movie snobs wont like it, but if you can get past the sub-par acting(except for Dafoe), it is a good movie. The sequel wasnt very good, but it is far from the worst movie i have ever seen.

I think even the most jaded viewer should appreciate Dafoe's performance at the very least. Great character.

Dafoe's worst role EVER in a horrible movie. And I'm not a movie snob.

Not liking it isnt exclusive to movie snobs. I was just playing the percentages, people with no taste wont like it either.

That it's a cheap, crass ripoff of Quentin Tarantino without the good dialogue and plot?

Why is it when Tarantino rips off Scorcese or any number of Asian film makers it's called an homage (or giving a nod to) but when someone does it to Tarantino it's a rip off?Tarantino didn't invent the revenge genre and it won't die with him.

Besides, Tarantino has been a cheap knock-off of himself for years. The last good movie he directed was Jackie Brown.
