Alright, I'll tell you once I get around to watching it. My fiance is in detroit and my kids are with their mom. I can't stop masturbating long enough to watch this sci-fi thriller.

I fell asleep. I wasn't very interested.

Watched the Hangover on BD last night. I thought it was a good flick...not great like so many people have told me. I don't think this will be a big repeat watch like other classic guy flicks I love such as, The 40 year Old Virgin, Superbad, Old School, Sideways, Forgetting Sara Marshall, and even Wedding Crashers which get's better and better with repeat viewings (despite to sappy hollywood ending BS). But I can see watching it again and picking up on some jokes I may have missed. The brother in-law was hyterical. And the Dr..errr I mean dentist was also pretty funny. Good flick.I did like the fact you had no idea what the hell happened and you have to piece the crazed night together with the 3 amigos as they search for their buddy who is getting married.I would give it 6 out of 10.

Just saw this over the weekend. Had to give it two tries because the wife and I fell asleep the first time around. Totally underwhelmed by the movie, and thought it was ok at best. Verrry few laugh out loud parts besides the furry guy and the #####y girlfriend at the end and a couple other lines I can't even remember. I'd say it was ok to sit through but probably won't make it into my "have to watch again" rotation. 5/10, 6/10 if I'm feeling generous

He's one of my favorite actors. I don't remember loving the Beethoven movie, but he's always good.

Was over at a friend's house the other day and caught a little bit of the Transformers II movie as his kid was watching in their home theater. As expected, it sucked. But the one thing I will point out is that if you want to see how good your surround system will sound, rent this. i've never heard more bass in my life. It was like being front row in a Metallica concert. This will push your home theater speakers to their extreme, if you can sit through it without choking on your own bile.

2-1/2 hours of this ####? i could barely stomach 30 minutes.

Watched it with my nincompoop BIL who laughs at everything ... "$5 dollar foot-long- LOLZZZ!". He laughed at everything. I thought it was really forced all the way around, despite a great premise. Had a couple of funny lines (something about the Holocaust ring- they gave out rings?), but mostly a lot of forced misses. Thought the bearded BIL in the movie was tiresome- if he had been a real person who was just quirky, that would've been one thing- but he was a mix of moronic stereotypes that I just couldn't buy (I know- it's a comedy... but still). I fully expected the taser to the noggin to shock-therapize him into some kind of normalcy, or super-genius state. nope.

Oh... caught most of It Could Get Loud last night. Really liked it- doc with a loose theme centered on the electric guitar, but really about 3 musicians' history and use of it: Jack White, The Edge, Jimmie Page (three generations of guitar players). Combined old footage, interview (live and audio), and a head-to-head-to-head between the three in a sound-studio, talking and playing about their music and techniques with each other. Well made visually and narratively- easily could've gotten bogged down in guitar-tech/history specifics, but kept it flowing nicely with personal anecdotes. Thought the director did a great job getting these guys to open up. Some great live footage and fantastic getting to see the awe on Edge and White's faces when Page starts playing and showing them how to play certain songs/riffs. Leitmotif: attack it with absolute conviction. Got my own creative juices inspired by this film...

watched "he's just not that into you" last night with the wife. pretty ho-hum kind of film that would be pretty forgettable but for the fact that it has a slew of hollywood folks in it. anniston, connolly, johanson, barrymore and one of the wives from "big love". on the ther side of the gender divide you have bradley cooper, ben affleck, the young dude from the Mac commercials, and one of the toady guys from "entourage".

it's not really funny or insightful as relationship films go. it does make a city like baltimore look fun and pretty. oh, scarlett is silly hot in this. jennifer connolly is also pretty damn hot. she totally kills me.

both my wife and i said the same thing. it took me a while to recall the "big love" role. as far as scarlett goes, it's just unfair that her character played a chick that was chasing after a married dude. it was damn near cruel.

Facing Ali

Excellent documentary providing unusually strident insights into Ali and the fighters he faced. You get insight to the fights themselves and the boxers who participated in them. Many fascinating characters on display here and the camera gives them all fair time to reveal their stories. One of the better sports movies I have seen.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist... thought this one was going to be more adult themed. Other than being set for the most part in my neighborhood, there was next to nothing going in this thing for me.

The writing wasn't as clever as intended. The characters were unlikable- and despite the story-line hammering at the audience that the title two should be together, there was nothing in the movie showing that they should. The characters were supposed to be HS seniors (I think), but come off as written by 30 somethings for 20 somethings characters.

Michael Cera (?), the cat from Juno, ... replayed the cat from Juno. Likeable and all, but is there more to this kid than that? Maybe there doesn't have to be. The Norah actress had nice cans and was yet another hottish girl that we're somehow supposed to think is an unattractive loser.

Just finished District 9. I generally enjoy sci-fi flicks and I have to say that this one was quality, and it kept me completely interested from beginning to end. It didn't hurt that I just bought myself some new surround sound speakers for Christmas, either. I'd give it a 7.5/8 out of 10.

Watched Funny People, as well. It did live up to its name for the most part but it really started to drag about two thirds of the way into the movie. The last third just seemed like it lasted forever. Maybe a 6.5/7 out of 10? Worth a watch but only for the jokes.

Watched Donnie Brasco for the first time the other night thanks to the masterminds behind Starz on Demand.

The story was a lot less complex than I was expecting it to be. IMO, the increased budgets and quality of episodic drama, especially cable drama, have hurt interesting-but-not-classic drama from previous eras.

I did like the Depp/Pacino scenes a lot. It was cool seeing Pacino play middle management so convincingly.

I like that movie a lot. Small scope, like you said. But very entertaining.

re: District 9... I enjoyed it. A lot of my classmates (architecture) ended up going into CGI and they all raved about how seamless the CG was in this. One of them going as far as saying the MOST seamless he'd ever seen (he's worked on some major movies)

When did Jonathan Demme turn into Robert Altman? He had a lot of scenes with a thousand characters all talking at once.

Anne Hathaway was very good but she's too pretty and too healthy looking to portray a long time druggie.

Debra Winger was excellent in her brief scenes, and oozed rage and turmoil.

I have mixed emotions about Altman. I love The Player, Gosford Park, and Short Cuts. But I'm not saying he's perfect. Can you give examples of sloppiness just so I understand?

Fantastic Mr fox was well worth it to me. Love Baumbach's writing- and the art direction/aesthetic was hilarious and impeccable. It's not going to linger emotionally at all, but one of the more fun movies I've seen in a while.
