Greg Giraldo: Midlife Vices
Giraldo is one of the best comedians around. Brilliant stuff. Giraldo is one of my favorite comedians, along with Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Silverman, Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt, and Brian Regan.

Tekken: Based on the video game... delivered pretty much what I expected. Cool fights, hot chicks and gaping plot holes. I thought it was better than most other that have come out that were straight fighting (all of the Street Fighter and MK movie). 2.5/5

I've enjoyed nearly everything Noah Baumbach has been involved in. I had high hopes for this despite the presence of Ben Stiller.

No. Not the vampire movie. The ghost movie.
Not worth the effort. It seems to be missing 20 minutes of film as the plot jumps a bit and makes absolutely no point.

I watched this over the weekend and completely agree with your review. I then looked on Rotten Tomatoes and was shocked that it got 78% and the critics said it was Baumbach's best movie. There's no way that's true. Maybe I'm missing something, but this was boring, the dialogue was stupid and the characters were loathsome.

I usually use Rotten Tomatoes for a quick review before I check out a movie. Saw Ben Stiller and 78% and figured it would be worth a watch. It just seemed awkward and unintelligent. The scene where he went to Florence's apartment was beyond ridiculous. The single entertaining part of the movie was when he was in the restaurant and yelled 'Sit on my dXXX, XXXhole'.Twice this weekend I found RT to be way off. Greenberg, which was completely awful and Centurion was rated 55% which I think was way to high.

so my wife and i have been watching serial television shows through netflix. "deadwood", "the wire", and now we're onto "breaking bad", which is pretty good. netflix recommended showtime's "sleeper cell" to us and i have to say it bloody awful. just awful. it's like CSI meets Fox Network. we couldn't even finish the first episode it was so bad.

I loved Kicking and Screaming and Mr Jealousy, but both are simple, easy movies. Squid and the Whale... I enjoyed, but started going in a direction- dunno, maybe a bit more depth/edge/darkness that felt too much to me at Baumbach's hands. Margot at the Wedding sounded horrible, so I stayed far away.hooter311 said:

Watched "Ran" and "The Road" over the weekend.
Thought both were equally mediocre, maybe a bit worse. Had pretty high expectations for the former, being as it seems to get a lot of acclaim. But I wasn't feeling it. Dragged too much for my liking. i typically give a little lead way in this department when it comes to foreign films so long as the pay off is worth the wait. It wasn't the case with this movie imo. I was bored for about 80% of the movie.
As for The Road, i found the child actor almost unbearable. I couldn't have cared less about whether or not he got captured and roasted on a spit. I was probably subconsciously rooting for this to happen by the end of the movie. Viggo Mortensen didn't do the father character any justice either. In the end, The storyline was pretty cool, but the actors failed to deliver.

I think it was Jdog that recommended it originally, but big thumbs up for "Ghost Writer" with Pierce Brosnan and Obi-Wan. Crisp little mystery/thriller that I really enjoyed about the ghost writer of the autobiography of a former Prime Minister (fictious, but meant to be Tony Blair).
Always good to find a little gem out there.
ETA: read that after I wrote it, and it's hard to imagine a story about a ghost writer to be all that gripping...but it is.

I think I said earlier I felt as if I didn't like the movie as much as I probably should have. It's very well written, well paced, and smoothly crafted, but, something just didn't sit right with me about it, and I don't know what that is.

What a craptastic piece of ####. Dumb plot, horrible FX, silly biblical ending, Nic Cage's usual horrible acting. This scene really set the tone for the rest of this trainwreck:
Loved it during the first plane crash. He walks into the site, and some guy runs by on fire screaming, and Cage is talking to him like he is asking for directions. Then he is able to reach into another fire to help another victim out without the slightest hint of pain. Great stuff, and it only got worse.

Still think it comes in as the solid #4 on the list of Animal Attack films behind Jaws 1 & 2 and Anaconda. Written by David E Kelley that created the Practice and Ally McBeal. Everyone is a sarcastic jerk, which adds to the fun. GB Stan Winston and for this movie coming out before CGI took over everything. I love the use of actual models instead of crappy CGI.

i was home from work yesterday and able to watch "big fan" via netflix streaming while my son napped. i like patton oswalt a ton but this was a pretty disappointing movie. it had stuff going for it in the early going but pretty much #### the bed in the second half. the ending was even worse. i wasn't expecting "taxi driver" or "the fan", with de niro and snipes, but it seemed afraid to go dark. if you wanted a character study then make the script work just a little harder. i knew it was coming off the rails when there was a montage in the middle. that said, i've seen worse over in the SP...

We need a good non-CGI bear attack movie. I wanna see a bear pull a helicopter down from the sky or knock someone's head 20 feet off with one swipe. I'm going to get to work on the screenplay.No CGI, but the bear is equipped with a chain gun for the finale.

Gorillas, Chimps, or Baboons?Gorillas were very poorly represented in Congo, that was such an awesome novel turned into such a disappointing movie.
Link is another great animal attack movie with a super smart chimp against a young Elizabeth Shue.
In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro is another underrated animal attack film featuring baboons on a murderous rampage, based on a true story.
Lots of directions to go here, Spider Monkeys is the correct answer though.
