I always liked him after seeing him in "The Right Stuff". He kind of fell out of favor following "The Silence of the Lambs", I thought.

He was great in The Right Stuff. He's kind of like Alan Arkin for me in that he's always instantly believable in his movies. Makes me want to rent more Scott Glenn movies.

Wow. If that doesn't work for you then nothing will. It is the first film I would recommend to Jutz if he is looking to delve deeper into anime.

Watched "50-50" the other night. OK film. Nothing special but kept my interest until the end. I like Gordon-Levitt a lot and thought he did good work. I can take or leave Seth Rogen at this point.

The Watch: A few laughs. Plot was something new. Stiller just isn't funny and needs to stop. Vaughn, Hill, Ayoade and Forte were good. Biggest laugh may have been in credits:

Great movie to look at for color mise-en-scene. It's entirely possible to watch the film with no sound and totally follow what's going on just by looking at the interplay of orange vs. blue. Orange for the Soviets, blue for the Americans. You can tell who's who, who's winning, what's happening, who's in danger, etc. just by following the colors. For example, there are two actors with orange/red hair that appear... Jack Ryan's wife (Gates McFadden), which establishes him as sympathetic to the Russian's POV, and the sub expert he consults (Jeffrey Jones), which establishes that character as an expert on the Russian sub. When Ryan has to go kill the saboteur, he's in the engine room, a vast array of massive orange pillars that's the heart of the Russian sub. But at the end, when the Americans win, the final scene is shot in only in shades of blue, a total victory for that side.

My Week With Marilyn:
Fantastic job by Williams as expected, but the movie did next to nothing for me. Can't quite describe it - maybe too 'fluffy' or didn't seem to be very interested in digging beneath the surface much? Worth a viewing, but nothing great.
Compliance:
Great movie that I wouldn't be too fast to watch again. Based on incidents of a caller pretending to be a cop and targeting fast food places claiming that they have evidence of an employee stealing. Not quite as raw, but think on the lines of the uncomfortableness of a movie like Elephant where you are in there with the people experiencing this. Thought it did a great job of making you think "no way would anybody (or I) fall for that, but then make you relate to the people enough to put you in there shoes. Not a comfortable watch, but still recommended.

this looked like one of those movies where, when the credits roll- I look at all the names of the people who worked on it and think about all the hours and money spent on it... and just wonder wtf it all couldn't have just gone to charity instead.

Jackie Brown is my favorite Tarantino movie - or at least tied with Pulp as my favorite. So I understand your argument. I heard a critic say that Django isn't aiming nearly as high as Pulp or Inglorious was, and I agree. So just seen as a popcorn flick, I think Django succeeded.

Django was decent, nothing earth shattering, but a fun movie to watch. The performances were all awesome, every single one of them, from Waltz to Dicaprio to Samuel Jackson (best performance IMO in the film) to Foxx's incredibly good and well restrained lead character. Though the writing was very good, I felt the ending was a bit too predictable.

Ive really liked all the movies Affleck has directed and written personally. While Id say The Town is easily my favorite and Argo may be my least favorite, I think Argo is probably his most well made film so far.

Thats what Im saying, but The Town is just my personal favorite of these (and Gone Baby Gone) partially because crime dramas and mob related movies are my wheelhouse.

Instead of he and DiCaprio dying in the middle, the movie would've been better if they would've joined forces (I REALLY wanted the Dentist to be a total sick-### Tarantino badguy) and then Django somehow takes them both down with his lady or some other runaway slaves.

But I'm guessing that shock will fade with repeat viewings and scenes like the hilarious KKK ride will always seem funny.

Olivia Thirlby. I was wondering when the cute friend from Juno was going to turn up in something decent. She has a refreshing look.
Just a solid action movie that accomplishes everything it sets out to do. Awesome score. I watched it at home but the reviews said it had been one of the better movies to take advantage of 3D. Karl Urban was fine but any recognizable lead and this one does a lot more box-office. I know Dredd wears a helmet the whole time but casting Urban made this one seem like a "B" production. The exact oppossite impression you needed to give if you are trying to reboot the Dredd series after the cheesy Stallone version.Puts The Raid to shame IMO. 7/10.

Been sucked into some atrsy type movies while watching TV late night lately.
Young Adam, kind of depressing but worth watching. Lots of nudity/sex but it's kind of gritty and not very erotic at all.
Beautiful Kate, also kind of dark but an interesting story. The few Australian films I've seen come across as much more believable than US Films, less sensational maybe

Judge DreddI was actually kind of looking forward to checking this out. I was quite disappointed. I did finish it, due more to my laziness than a compelling storyline. It did build some momentum and the second half was quite a bit better than the first. But compared to The Raid? Its not in the same league.
