I thought it was pretty good. Chalamet’s performance was good but not sure he was believable for the combat scenes. He’s so skinny. It deserved more conversation than it got, especially considering it was immediately released on Netflix so it was accessible.
 
Local Historic Movie Theater hosted a Quentin Tarantino Fest over the past couple weeks:

Week 1: KILL BILL VOLUME 1 & GAME OF DEATH
Week 2: RESERVOIR DOGS & FROM DUSK TILL DAWN
Week 3 ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD & THE WRECKING CREW

Of course I loved all 3 of the QT offerings, the sub-QT offerings were a mixed bag. GoD was OK. I'd seen DtD once before and I found it to be kinda meh. The wrecking Crew I'd always wanted to see due to it's reference in "Once Upon...Hollywood". Had some good spots in it. I don't need to see it again though. Sharon Tate was a beauty even though it's tough to tell in the WC.

Oh man. I just added his collection on Criterion streaming last night and was thinking how little I have seen of his (just Breathless). I might have to join you by watching one tonight.

The Wrecking Crew really, really sucks. The Matt Helm movies are bad. The Silencers was the first and the best and that just really sucked. If you watch WC stoned it can have some camp value.
You can catch Sharon Tate in the Fearless Vampire Killers which was a movie that was intentionally designed to be campy.
 
Rear Window - feel like I watched this before. Gorgeous set work, snooze fest of a movie. Just Jimmy Stewart looking out a window and saying “now wouldya look at that?” for a 120 minutes.

I just watch it to live vicariously through Stewart being so close to Grace Kelly. :wub:

Oh yeah I don’t expect it to be good. I just want to see it for the historical context of it.
 
Last night I watch a movie with Clint, Amy Adams, John Goodman, Justin Timberlake. It's about baseball - no way this could be bad, right??


Hint: wrong - it's a terrible movie. Laughably bad.
 
The Ride

Been listening to a podcast picking apart (mostly terrible) "white savior" movies and other movies tackling race and other topics. Another one that was laughably bad, but I knew going in to these what was going on with this and the other one. Here we have a racist kid sent to what looks like a legit prison at about 8 years old, and gets picked to be fostered (8 freakin' years later!) by Ludacris and his wife. :lol: This was even worse than what I imagine Lifetime movies are.

Can't disagree more. I thought it was one of the worst things I've watched in awhile. From the dumpy a-hole that is supposedly a 1st pick prospect for the MLB to resolution of years of trauma for Amy Adams in about 30secs because daddy said she should be running the team. Dunno man, I hated this thing.

I caught this at the theater last week. Absolutely loved it.
It's intended for a very specific audience. Basically only those who have followed Smith's View Askew universe will pick up on the callbacks, references and inside jokes. I thought they did a really good job of keeping the focus on the original Clerks cast/characters this time with only token nods to the other films sprinkled in here and there. Smith did a great job with the story. It allowed him to combine the reality of what life is like now that these characters are all in their 50's while at the same time allowing him to revisit the story of making the first "Clerks" film. It is a story stuck in the present that manages to celebrate the past.
A very touching conclusion to the franchise. As someone who grew up following these characters it hit me right in the feels.

I take back what I said about Clerks 3, looks like the core fans really love it. It just seems like the critics who were forced to see it because it’s their job resented having to see another Clerks movie. The fans are digging it.
 
Criterion Channel has a great collection that popped up in the last couple months - Noir in Color. I've been working through that this week and really enjoying these. I don't think I had heard of any of the 14 besides 1, maybe 2. First up was: Leave Her To Heaven, Niagra, and Desert Fury. Next is Inferno.
