It also doesn't have to be time travel. I purposely left it at "time" for anything else interesting that might pop up. For example, 25th Hour or Boyhood could qualify.
You'd just have to google. I'm not sure what you were looking for-movies that are good and you'd rewatch or movies/tv shows that you haven't seen yet.
Just bsing for the most part. I had a few in mind, and these 'themes' are just things I've noticed when i look at movies i liked from these years. There was a lot of Ryan Gosling, single word titles, and movies about time.

I knew i wanted to get to Tenet and My Old ***, and there is at least one rewatch i need to tackle that has to do with time, so i thought it would be a fun theme and discussion.

TENET is underrated IMO, not sure why people hate that one so much

Because it was silly, oddly acted, ponderous and bad? Im a Nolan and high-concept fan...but this one didnt work at all for me.

I’m sure Shawshank is re-airing for the 10,000th time on TBS.

It's incumbent on the storyteller to make the story coherent. Tenet expects the viewer to connect dots that aren't even on the same page with dots that may or may not even exist.

Maybe there’s a different meaning of the word pretentious that im unfamiliar with?

I'm not sure pretentious is the word I'd use, but ponderous applies. Mostly what I was thinking during the movie is that Nolan feels like somebody who can't win with people. (me included) Complaints about (and I agree) his tendency to hand hold and have to over explain everything in his movies. Inception is the big one for this, but I think those complaints are accurate even for Memento, Interstellar, and others. Then Dunkirk and Tenet feel like late era movies were he is comfortable enough with his weird ideas and playing with time that he doesn't explain what is going on during those movies and people don't like them either. I am also in the crowd who didn't like Tenet that much either on first watch. There are nuggets of great ideas and some fantastic action scenes, but in between those I was checking out a bit. I also agree with whoever posted that it was weirdly acted. That thought popped in my head a few times during the movie.

Applied here I mean it to say "too clever for its own good, and not as clever as it thinks it is".

In other words it just feels like the movie (and by extension, Nolan) want to show how much smarter it is than the audience.

Anyway, it just didn't work for me on any level. Let's just label it as forgettable and move on.

I’d like to toss in a vote for the Canadian movie “Last Night,” which follows various people in Toronto as they await the end of the world, which is to occur at midnight. It’s been 25 years or more since I saw it, but I loved it at the time and should re-watch.

Couple others that fit the bill

Happy Death Day
In the Shadow of the Moon
Safety Not Guaranteed
The One I Love (maybe a bit of a stretch here but I think it fits)
Totally Killer

All those are good too. Thanks for the reminder on the bolded. I was trying to think of the title last night since Aubrey Plaza is in that one too.

It misses the 21st century, but this was added to my general queue, thanks.

I just watched that one recently for the first time.

I really wanted to like it more, but it was a mess and ultimately a let down. Tone and plot line not consistent or well done enough to make it good/recommendable for me. But enough there that i wouldnt discourage somebody from seeing it (with those caveats)

Ah, I've floated in and out and didn't know there was a timeframe on time. Barely misses.

We aren't being too secretive about it, but 80s and i are working on a 21st century ranking project, so 90% of my movie watching this summer has been related to that.

I thought you guys loved Fincher? It has a 7.8 on IMDB and 72/80 on RT and had a ton of oscar noms. I know I've watched it but right now I can't really remember anything specific about it. Its likely midling and its a romance so it might not be our cup of tea.

Wrong thread for this suggestion, but, in the past couple of weeks, I’ve read Solvej Balle’s On the Calculation of Volume I and Volume II. Danish writer and the series is in the process of being translated to English.

Time loop book, but a bit of a twist in that she can move around and the main character’s day picks up wherever she ended it, and her body ages even if the rest of world is at a standstill.

Tales of the Walking Dead (chapter 2)Chapter 2 with Parker Posey was a great zombie/timeloop crossover. Probably 15 minutes long.

Just now finally getting to Creed. No idea why I waited this long as I like the original Rocky movies and like boxing. This is just good movie making. It's a little ridiculous of course but it hits all the beats you want in a sports movie. The fight scenes are so well filmed and more realistic than we usually get.

This film was way better than it had any right to be as a blind concept. That's mainly because of Coogler and Jordan. As with all of the Rocky movies, the timelines get a little screwy.

Coogler didn't direct the next two (though I think he produced them). Creed II has callbacks to just about every Rocky film. Creed III (IIRC directed by Jordan) has a couple of surreal moments, but I think may be the best of the three just for the performances.
