te scoring is very generousOlsen???
And my current TE's aren't gonna be very generous. Was between him and Jarrett, and I, for the first time, went with need instead of want.te scoring is very generousOlsen???
PPR is weighted as follows: TE > WR > RB'sA good receiving TE is worth a lot, comparable to a good RB2, and an elite guy like Gates is comparable to an average RB1. Plus, TE's are the only position that you can switch out with RB's in your lineup; you can only ever start 3 WR's, but you can start either 2 RB's and 1 TE, or 1 RB and 2 TE's.te scoring is very generousOlsen???
Four picks in the 1st and no RBs. I can't believe that's how it went down. With solid LB scoring (several LBs were Top 50 players in this format in '06) and ability to start four, that was $$ for me. Russell (well that was my pre-draft and SOMEONE started early) might be a tad high, but I had Bowe over Meachem - albeit very slightly. I was torn on #8 with Jackson, but decided to take the far better player in Willis.First round's in the bag.

No WR on the Jags is worth my flatulence. They have a mess at WR and at QB.On Leonard, he's 2nd on the depth chart behind Jackson...he will get utilized. No RB in this league is bullet proof and I think he'll get a decent amount of touches.Besides, I thought you "sharks" always say to draft according to talent and not situation? I actually like Leonard a lot and considered taking him with each of my first 3 picks. But, not only is Jackson ahead of him...he will also have to compete with Holt, Bruce, Bennett, McMichael, Klopfenstein, etc. for catches. Not sure there's enough balls to go around and Jackson is an excellent receiving option so it's unlikely he'll be pulled in 3rd down situations. The best scenario for Leonard to be worthwhile is an injury to Jackson and I wasn't looking to play the lottery here.Anyway, I was comfortable with my RBs. When I took Beck with my middle pick in round 2, there were a handful of WRs I liked and I figured one would drop to my next pick. Well, 3 of them went in the picks right before I was up (Davis, Gonzalez, Hill). I don't think any IDP was worth that pick and I already feel pretty stacked at LB. I already drafted 1 QB and didn't feel like I needed to burn another pick on one there. There were certainly no TEs that warranted going there. So, WR was still clearly the best position to pick. If you think there were better WR options out there when I took Walker, then please share them. I think he clearly had the most upside of any WRs left. I think Walker has something Reggie Williams and Ernest Wilford lack...elite speed. And, certainly seems possible that the new offensive coordinator can get more production out of his WRs. As a Jags fan, do you not like Walker? No WR on the Jags is worth my flatulence. They have a mess at WR and at QB.On Leonard, he's 2nd on the depth chart behind Jackson...he will get utilized. I agree that there just isn't that much talent in this years draft. I was going through the same thought process as you before I picked Leonard. I wanted Troy Smith but he got snagged by Tonn right before my pick. There's really not alot of skill available.I'm just saying as a Jags homer, I don't like what's brewing down there in J-ville. I have never liked Del Rio as a head coach and it seems the fans down there, as well as the FO, are starting to agree with me. If Del Rio goes after this year or next, it's a rebuilding team with the new coaching staff and Walker may be SOL.Leonard is with a HC that is fairly new and promising so I think his future may be a bit brighter. Bruce will more than likely be gone after this year and Klopfenstein doesn't worry me. He will have to fight with Holt and Jackson, but I envision him as an outlet for Bulger with that turnstile O-line they have in STL.I actually like Leonard a lot and considered taking him with each of my first 3 picks. I really like Walker, but his combine 40 time does not reflect his game speed. He is not a true burner. He's more of a crafty WR who is courageous and physical than a guy who does well by creating deep separation. He'll do most of his damage in the first 15 yards after the LoS.While we're at it, Hill's combine 40 time was also deceptive. He does not separate with ease, he gets by on toughness and clutch instincts and ball skills more than straight line speed. I don't blame these guys for training specifically to shave tenths off their 40 time, but it doesn't change what you see on film. You can either separate with ease, or you can't, and neither of these guys can.Aaron Rudnicki said:If you think there were better WR options out there when I took Walker, then please share them. The following is an excerpt from the transcript of Head Coach Jack Del Rio's press conference following the first day of the 2007 NFL Draft.
(was it a good day?) “We are happy with the results. It was a productive day. We wanted to add speed and we were hoping to add some defensive players. We were able to do that. We got a really exciting linebacker in the second round – a good run and hit guy. We feel like we solidified a spot that had an opening at safety and we were able to get a real fine player there with speed. Then our last pick, we got a wide receiver with good hands, he’s a good route runner and he’s got speed. We feel like his best football is ahead of him. In all three cases, we brought in guys with passion for football. When you watch the tape, you can watch the passion jump off the tape.”
(on characterizing Mike Walker) “I think the best thing to do is take a look and watch him in spring. We think he is a good football player and a good route runner. He is a competitive player who played some defense in college. He’s played some safety. He is a physical player. He’s a really good player.”
(did you find him at the Combine?) “No, we’ve been tracking him. We were wondering what he would run. George O’Leary is a guy that several guys on our staff know well and Central Florida is right down the road in our backyard. Our scouts cover them well. He’s a good football player, but it was just a matter of if he got his speed back off of the injury. That was the last hurdle for him. He was a guy, if he got his speed back, who would make a big impact.”
(on your wide receivers on the roster) “We are going to make it competitive. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were another guy or two added tomorrow. We are going to have a competitive group. We like the picks we have made over the last couple of years and we have a young, promising group. The addition of Dennis Northcutt was a very solid addition. He’s a great young man that has brought a work ethic and an approach to the game that is more veteran and more polished, and he has been a really good addition to our group. The room is better with him here. We have added Mike now and we are going to continue to make that group competitive. I think Todd Monken is a very detailed-oriented, high-energy coach, so we are very excited to see where that group can go.”
Im not saying he's slow, I'm just saying that his game is not based on speed. He might have gotten some burst back between the end of the season and combine, but thats only 2 months. I don't expect the Jags to use him to stretch defenses.you don't think the ACL recovery had something to do with that?I really like Walker, but his combine 40 time does not reflect his game speed. fine with me if he's physical and a good route runner with good speed to boot. I still think he can be faster than Reggie Williams and Ernest Wilford, but maybe that's not asking a whole lot.I'm still not sure why Ben thinks he was a "huge reach" other than he hates Jack Del Rio and thinks all Jags WRs will be useless.I'm not too happy with the way this draft has gone.Traded down from 1.10 to 2.01 and picked up the 2.15 pick in addition to my 2.07 pick. With my first 4 picks, I wound up with:2.01 LB Jon Beason2.07 QB John Beck2.15 WR Mike Walker3.10 QB Trent EdwardsI was happy to get a LB from the top-tier in Beason but was hoping that Posluszny would be there at 2.01. I passed on Stanton with the 2.01 but was hoping he or Zach Miller would be there for me at 2.07 and they went in the 2 picks before me. I think Beck has a shot to give me a 3rd starting QB, which I'll need since my top 2 share a bye week this year and Kitna is old. I passed on WRs at 2.07 b/c there were a bunch left and none stood out to me at the time. I hoped Davis, Gonzalez, or Hill would slide to me at 2.15 but they went in the 3 picks before me. With my first 3 picks, I felt like nobody fell to me and all the guys I targeted were gone right before my pick came up. In the 3rd, I would have loved to see Brian Leonard there after giving him serious consideration with my first 3 picks but that didn't happen either. Since I already have Losman and Nall, I figured I might as well complete the trifecta and add Edwards. Kolb was a value consideration there but he probably would have just been trade bait anyway.Im not saying he's slow, I'm just saying that his game is not based on speed. He might have gotten some burst back between the end of the season and combine, but thats only 2 months. I don't expect the Jags to use him to stretch defenses.

Fixed. Here is how my ROOKIE draft shaped out....
4.10
DE-STL-Adam Carriker
Basically went with BPA. He could contribute in year 1, but overall I think he has a solid career ahead of him.
Roster now looks like.
DT
BYoung, Pickett, FRobbins, Carriker
DE
Carriker, JGreen, TPryce, Jason Taylor
![]()
I read that STL is planning on moving Carriker to DT. I was looking at him last night and I was all set to have him #1 on my pre-draft list until that scared me off of him.I needed WR help but Russell is too good to pass up at 5. I like Bowe over Meachem, so I'm happy there. Willis and Pos are likely starters for me this year, so I'm also happy with those. Did feel rather strange taking 4 picks in the Top 13 and no RBs.Aundrae Allison in the 2nd made me feel better about only 1 WR in Round 1. 4.14 was a gift in a trade of Sage Rosenfels, and I thought about Hairston or Ben Patrick there (who went at the next pick). Gamble either way.Overall happy with it. I'll post my complete team in a minute.1.05 Russell, JaMarcus OAK QB ® 1.07 Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR ® 1.08 Willis, Patrick SFO LB ® 1.13 Posluszny, Paul BUF LB ® 2.10 Allison, Aundrae MIN WR ® 4.14 Hairston, Justise NEP RB ® - Someone has to be the 2nd back in NE - why not him?
I think you've had one of the best rookie drafts so far....a little bit of a reach on Allison, but #### if you wanted him that bad...I needed WR help but Russell is too good to pass up at 5.
