Rediculous Trades (1 Viewer)

Depending upon the type of onwers in you league and their experience in fantasy football, I am sure we have seen some laughable trade offers this year.

So without further adieu, lets here some trades that have made you go

I'll go first:

Trade: Edge for Maroney

Offeror: Edge owner

Trade was rejected by league, thankfully.

Your league overreacted in a big way. Quite frankly, they screwed up. What happens 5 weeks from now if Edge is still averaging 3 yards per carry, but Dillon got hurt and Maroney is going Larry Johnson on the league? What happens if the Edgerrin owner loses the championship by 2 points on a week where Maroney outscores James by 20 points? Are you just going to apologize to the Edge owner for completely screwing him over? If someone traded Deuce McAllister for Larry Johnson after week 1 last year, your league probably would have laughed at the guy trading away McAllister and rejected the trade... but in the end, the guy giving up McAllister would have been laughing all the way to the championship.Trades shouldn't be vetoed unless the league has evidence of collusion, or unless the league has evidence that one team is just trying to tank the season. You might not think a trade is fair, but if everyone valued players exactly the same as you do, then no trades would ever get done, would they?By the way, I agree that Edge should be worth more than Maroney, but I don't think the gap is really that big, to be honest. And even if I think the gap IS big, I'm not positive that I'm really right, anyway.

how about this #### raping

Team#1

Mike Bell

Fred Taylor

Antonio Gates

Eddie Kennison

to Team 2 for

Team 1 now has

I inquired about possibly trading for DeAngelo Williams and the Chargers defense, plus any of his middling WRs. I basically asked if the owner was interested in trading them and what he might want.

He is new to the league and he writes back that he loves to "wheel and deal" and here is what he wanted...

I give him:

Tomlinson

Harrison

Vick

he gives me:

DeAngelo Williams

Braylon Edwards

Chargers ST/Def

I told him I thought that was a bit pricey and that I would pass.

I also told another owner that I might be willing to trade Maroney (this guy is a HUGE Pats fan) and wondered if he was interested.

He e-mails me back and this is all it says...

Wayne for Tomlinson.

I have no idea where the communication breakdown occurred, but I e-mailed im back and said "C'mon now...we both know that won't happen."

While I'll agree that I wouldn't do it, that offer, if the Edge owner is rebuilding in a dynasty, is actually pretty much on track for what Maroney should be going for.

I'd hate to be in your league. That's a legitimate deal. As long as a trade is within the 70/30 ballpark, it should probably go through sans collusion.

agreed in a dynasty league 'd take Maroney over a Caddy Williams and would place him in my top 10 around a SJax type value.... the league over reacted imo

Precisely. That's why you never leave trades up to a league vote.Maroney will have more value than Egde in keeper/dynasty leagues right now. As well as having more value down the road in 2006 (aka re-draft).Let them make their own trades. If something really smells fishy (collusion), then it is your job as commish to stifle the trade or put it to league vote.Otherwise, live and let die.

BTW FWIW Edge was just traded in my 3 man keeper (NO KEEPERS after the 1st 3 rounds) league.

Egde for Hasselbeck straight up.

The Edge owner has Gore, Tatum, Ronnie Brown, and one more RBBC guy (Maroney), so it was a non decision.

Edge for Hasselbeck, never!!!

But, when the guy has 5 starting RBs, can only play 3, it's a fair deal.

Just putting it out there. I know my league rules don't apply to most.

Hey, as long as both team get better in the deal, who care what the ending rosters look like.

I don't understand why this was rejected. Even if this isn't a keeper or Dynasty league, Maroney is getting a lot of carries this year, The Pats love to run the ball, and Dillon is always one play away from being injured.Game 1: Edge - 73 yards rushing 13 yards receiving 1 Touchdown Maroney - 86 yards rushingGame 2: Edge - 64 yards rushing 33 yards receiving Maroney - 65 yards rushing 1 touchdown

Ditto that. Why can't people just let other owners run their own teams like adults? Sometimes people will make mistakes. Sometimes what you THINK is a terrible deal for one person works out the complete opposite in the long run. No one knows whats going to happen in 3 months.I've yet to see a single case of a legitimate veto on this board. IE: teams shown to be involved in collusion. It's always a mildly questionable trade at best that should be allowed through. It's pretty pathetic.

worst trade ever just happened in my HRB kicker league.

Salex for W.Dunn & Chicago D.

Now D's do score pretty well in this league. This was offered by the SAlex owner. Geez.

I have a theory: perceived value. In the league mentioned its equivalent to name recognition. Note to The Accountant's league: Edge is a Cardinal, and Maroney is the next big thing in New Englad.

:goodposting:If that's what you like, then more power to you, but that's awful.

I got offered Big Ben for Shaun Alexander. Then the guy pulled the trade offer when Alexander didn't practice. :lmao: As if I was going to suddenly try to take advantage of him by quickly approving the trade when Alexander didn't practice.

12 Team Keep-3 League:Gates, J.Jones, MBIIIforD.Williams, B.Watson
Guy must really love Williams. Can't blame him. The guy looked electric last week.
Yeah, it my was team that got Gates, JJ, and MBIII. I really like Williams long-term, but I thought this would improve my shot at a championship this year. It gives me a core of Brady (meh), Tiki, SJax, Driver, DJax, Gates. So JJ and MBIII are just for depth/bye-weeks with Rhodes (also meh), The Burner, Glenn, and Cotchery. Not that any of you care.

Yes, but only because this board has a tendacy to always want the one big player in the deal. Anytime a deal is a 2 for 1 or in this case, essentially a 4 for 2, people whine and think it's lopsided without considering the teams involved. Now, I personally wouldn't give LT for that, but it's not horrible.

For fun league with a friend of mine with most of the teams owned by relatives of my friend so I really don't care.

Doug Gabriel for Joseph Addai.

This is a true guppy league that I just filled a team slot to help my friend out.

In a start 1 TE dynasty league I was offered (before the season)

Crumpler

Ced Wilson

NE DEF

for

Heap

Foster

2nd round FA draft pick (no rookies)

Problem: I have Gates and Watson in addition to Heap

Insult: He sent a note along with trade telling me how this worked out for both teams and it was extremely fair.

I STOLE Randy Moss, IMO, for Deshaun Foster striaght up.

My RBs are now c Portis J Lewis M Bell and D Williams

My WRs are now C Johnson, L Coles, R Moss, Matt Jones

(plus I can start Colston as a TE)

Fixed. It's not the poster's fault...completely  Here's an idea:

BARRING PROVABLE COLLUSION, let the two teams actually involved in the trade decide what's best for each of them. In a out dynasty rookie draft Wali Lundy and Santonio Homes went in the first round...while guys like L.White, J. Norwood, M. Turner, M. Lienart, V. Davis, J. Addai all sat there. Do you think anyone overruled that mess?!? Heck no! I was happy to land White at 1.09! People value players differently for different reasons and perceptions. Just because someone thinks a players value is higher or lower than yours (or even the majority) doesn't make them WRONG (nor should it make their trades veto-able!)

I thank the good Lord everday I'm not in a league that vetoes trades.

Man, I can't stand the arrogance that goes along with vetoing trades!

In 2004 in a dynasty league I traded, then starting TE for the NO Saints, Boo Williams (who was actaully pre-season ranked in the top 10 I believe) and William Green - when he was a starter in 2004 for a handcuff rookie RB (Fargas), and a 2nd year TE that was expected to be good. The guy I traded with had Alge Crumpler, so had no problem parting with the unproven young TE named Antonio Gates. A few weeks later, he wasn't happy (this was early in 2004) - when Gates started exploding. But that trade was far from veto-able. Did I know Gates was going to be that good? Heck no, I just took a shot - and my hunch paid off. In the leagues of some of our posters, a trade like that probably would have gotten vetoed! "A top 10 TE & a starting RB for a 2nd year TE and a handcuff!?!?! - How one sided!! How UNFAIR!!"

Yep, it was. But at the time neither I nor the other owner realized it ;)

Who cares if the other already owner had LJ? Although I probably wouldn't have made that trade, it's not a raping at all -- not by a long shot.

I am of a mind that all leagues need to state either, all trades allowed or no trades alllowed, period!. With the exception of my local 12 team, annual redraft league which allows "ALL" trades to go thru barring collusion and where the Commish has sole discretion concerning collusion or tanking, this has never been the case in 8 years, trades are continually objected to and vetoed in most other leagues, where a small majority of owners are given objection status which directly influences the final veto decision., especially in the CBS Sportsline leagues, which almost always, 90% of the time, disallows trades.

If owners are willing to shell out $100 $250 or $500 or more, they should be given free reign to do as they will as far as trading goes. I do not believe that their has ever been a trade between 2 owners where these same owners felt the trade was not good for them, what would be the point?. Owners see value or lack thereof in entirely different perspectives and the only people who disagree are those fellow owners and conference rivals who have a "PERSONAL" stake in any given team becoming a stronger team. The purpose is to win the Championship and/or the $$$, isn't it?????

I have finally learned my own lesson after years of fustration and will not be involved in CBS type leagues ever again, after this season. Anyone recommend a competitive, challanging, active ownership-no matter the record, smack-talking, good sportsmanship and FUN! $$$ league for 2007?.
