Redraft '24 - Xavier Worthy vs Jaylen Waddle...Rest of the Season (1 Viewer)

It's only Week 3 but my how the Waddle stock has dropped thru the floor
On one site that many frequent I saw Waddle 33rd and Worthy 36th this week for their Sunday games and I wasn't sure who I would actually want on my roster for the rest of the season
Waddle is in Year 4, just got paid very well, $27M+ per year and now he is basically a WR4/Flex in 10-team leagues is what these rankings would say

Worthy is just a rookie but he's flashed a lot of skills already and the ability to produce on low volume
You must assume Waddle's volume will slide a little with Skylar Thompson chucking balls for Miami
I was wondering in redraft what the Sharks prefer
Tua could come back in a month but that's pretty dicey right now
Worthy is likely to see his role expand in coming weeks and as he learns the offense more and more

What say you?

Too many questions in Miami at the QB position to even discuss taking a WR from that team now.

I pretty easily take Worthy, due to his big play ability and QB throwing him the ball.

For me I would rather have Worthy.

• Better QB KC
• Questionable running game expecting a few more jet sweeps to Worthy and perhaps more passing.
• Kelce doesn't appear to be taking a majority of targets which gives an opportunity for Worthy after Rice.
• Expecting an increase in passing attempts with Pachecho down.

Miami

• Questionable QB and I am predicting Thompson to play most of the rest of the season beyond this 4 games IR
• Expecting less targets with Thompson with increased targets to Achane.
• Expect less sustained drives.
• Expecting an increase in running plays.

I drafted Waddle in my 10 team league and I’m keeping him on the bench until I see a reason not to. I’d trade him straight up for Worthy right now.

I'm guessing Waddle will still have more consistent catches. His ceiling however is crashed. The question with Worthy is what can he do with two catches a week? Or are we assuming that's going to go up significantly? The Chiefs do not need to throw to him to win games, so I'm not confident his volume rises much. So I'm going to say Waddle outscores him, but not by much. It'll be a few points a week vs a few random spikes via Worthy TDs. I own both in my home league (along with GWilson and Higgins) and I'm not too excited about the overall situation. Worthy at least gives you what you bargained for, imo.

I guess I disagree, but your stance on Rashee Rice must be different than mine.

Rice's aDOT of 5.6 isn't scaring anyone. Tyreek Hill has an aDOT of 13.2. I bring up those guys as competition to Worthy/Waddle. I think Worthy's ceiling is significantly higher and his floor is probably lower than Waddle's. Worthy's usage is worrisome, but I believe we could see an uptick in usage come playoffs. Worthy's efficiency is pretty high (small sample size, I understand).

That could also be similar these next few weeks, but I feel a lot better with Waddle in my lineups for the ROS. Worthy will have a few spectacular weeks sprinkled in with lots of duds. I hope I'm wrong about Worthy's floor. I own a lot of him in my dynasty leagues (it's wild he was falling to the late 1st in superflex drafts) and would love to pencil him into my WR3 slot.

Hmmm, I can't agree with you on this one but let me share/explain my POV here
I felt when they put Tua on IR, that almost never happens on a concussion, 1st one of the season and he hits injured reserve and a minimum of 4 games off...he wasn't allowed to just walk thru concussion protocol and see if he can clear in a couple weeks, they shut him down for at least a month

Tua is almost in the Chris Bosh world when he was with the Heat. Bosh could not FIND a doctor that would clear him to play basketball in the NBA, he tried lots and lots of them from my understanding and none of them were willing to lose their medical licenses over him. Why will Tua be any different?

I know, blood clots vs concussions are not the same but you have CTE, NFL settling lawsuits and on OWNER who not only took orders from Goodell to overhaul Hard Rock so the NFL would continue to play Super Bowls there....but then you add in he was caught red handed throwing games (I happen to believe Flores)...and you have an owner that is now a LAP DOG for Goodell meaning all Roger has to do is call Ross up and tell him he doesn't really want to see Tua back out there, at least not in 2024 as it brings so much negative media attention that quite frankly I don't think we will see Tua in a Miami uniform the rest of the 2024 season and I could be wrong but that's how the tea leaves and most of the folks I know down here seem to be whispering.

-I believe it's between Tua, his family and the doctors/neurologists that he hires and trusts and no one else...but there are others that feel the choice or option should be taken away from him because most athletes will never walk away with the kind of play Tua had and say that was it, that was my last NFL moment. Guys don't want to go out that way

I was not trying to shoot down your POV, I'm just trying to look out for you and others that are game planning on Tua coming back. I don't share that vibe right now
But I know Tua will want to try and play or come back, it's who he is

Rice's aDOT is that because their whole offense is that. Worthy's aDOT through his 7 targets in his career may be higher, but personally it seems like he's also running routes mostly at the line of scrimmage.

Nobody is doing Tyreek stuff in this offense anymore. Not even Tyreek could. It is just not a big play offense and does not attempt to be.

I would probably take Waddle over Worthy, but truthfully I regret anywhere I have either right now.

Worthy vote here. I loved Waddle with Tua, but no faith in Skylar. From the Worthy side, without Pacheco and Hollywood Brown, I see the KC passing game getting stronger and Worthy with a lot of routes. I would not be surprised if Worthy has more FP by year end.

I just think Worthy has a path to relevance. KC has started pretty slow every year. I don't know that nickel and diming your way down the field with Rashee Rice is going to win another SB.

1. The offense could be more pass heavy.

2. Pacheco was pretty much the guy, 3 down workhorse. If Worthy gets half the targets vacated by Pacheco... 20% target share with his efficiency?

3. Maybe, Xavier Worthy sees more gadget plays without Pacheco?

There is a path to higher usage and when he's had opportunities Worthy has looked good.

This thread makes me want to trade for Waddle.

A lot to like with Worthy, but we’re talking less than 100 NFL scrimmage yards and a couple of schemed TDs. That compared to a guy with Waddle’s track record of 3 straight 1k seasons despite injuries to himself and Tua. This is easy.
