Reggie Brown at 43... (1 Viewer)

43 is the number of catches Reggie hauled in last year, and it just so happens to be the number he's sitting at right now. So let's break out the tale of the tape:

Reggie Brown, 2005:

43 rec, 571 yd, 4 td, 13.3 y/c, 24 1st downs

Reggie Brown, 2006 (14 games)

43 rec, 789 yd, 8 td, 18.3 y/c, 33 1st downs

Hmmm... I'd call that improvement. In fact, it reminds me a bit of Chad Johnson's improvement from year 1 to year 2. Going into year 3, CJ could be had in the middle and even late rounds in redrafts (I remember getting him in round 9 in one league), and of course that year he joined the elite wide receivers. Brown looks like a nice target in the middle rounds next year.

As an RB owner in one league, I do like the trend. The only caveeat to comparing him to CJ is that CJ was/became the #1 option on his team. A game by game analysis of 2006 for the Eagles would be required to see whether Reggie will move into that slot for seaason 3, or will it be Stallworth.

any explanation for reggie's 4 receptions for 77 and a TD last week versus stallworth's one reception for 5 yards? it does seem like garcia maybe likes reggie more. i drafted reggie to be my WR3 and used him a decent amount in the first half of the year, but he's been on my bench for most of the 2nd half. however i'm actually considering starting him over boldin in my championship game. foolish move, or will he have another good game?

I think the biggest explanation is that Brown was covered by the charred remains of R.W. McQuarters, so there was no point in throwing to Stallworth. I'm not sure how Dallas handles their cbs - do they play receivers or sidelines? If Reggie's going to line up against Terence Newman, he might not be a good start. Then again, seems like Reggie's been scoring a touchdown every week lately.

Reggie has been a really streaky player this year. He has had several good weeks followed by several bad weeks. If he improves his consistency, which I think he will, he could be a top 10 receiver next year. He certainly knows how to score.

Yeah, I would expect Dallas to play some better defense than what the Giants showed last week. However, Dallas has given up 9 TD passes in the last 2 games, and Garcia is playing well (certainly better than Leinart). I should probably just play it safe though and stick to Boldin vs. SF. Interesting to note that while Boldin is the big name, he is the 20th ranked WR in my league while Brown comes in at #15.
