Reggie Bush Had Microfraction Surgery? (1 Viewer)

Reggie Bush-RB- Saints Jan. 7 - 12:50 am et

Saints GM Mickey Loomis revealed Tuesday that Reggie Bush recently had microfracture surgery on his left knee.

The Saints initially called the surgery a simple scope, but it was much more serious and deals a blow to Bush's long-term outlook. While Loomis claims Bush will be ready by June minicamps, that's far from certain. Athletes that need microfracture typically are nearing a bone-on-bone condition due to a lack of cartilage in a joint. The procedure doesn't always fix the problem. This is the third operation on Bush's left knee in the last two years, which is a very negative sign for a player that relies so much on cutting ability and speed.

nitpick-article spin is a little off, true it's his 3rd knee operation but I think it's the first microfracture one.

I'm curious how a young player responds. I recall older players getting it done and maybe having a year or two more success. It seemed the surgey just bought them a little time. It didn't seem like they could play alot longer.

It doesnt sound good. Pierre Thomas could be in line for a big season in 09

For fantasy purposes, I think this is the key and unfortunately may hurt his dynasty trade value for those looking to move him.

I'm so glad I traded him long ago. It's bad enough that he can't cut it as a workhorse back, now there's a cloud over his health long term. Even in PPR leagues this is a serious blow to his value IMO.

DeShaun Foster had this surgery a few years ago and is still playing OK even though he is not a starter. Still, this is nothing to sneeze at and is another ding in the dynasty outlook for Bush.

micro fracture is never good. I think KW2 had this done two years ago and receovered nicely.
Yes it means he has a bone on bone condition and isn't good for someone like Bush. Perhaps they should turn him into a slot receiver.
not necessarily. it means there's some cartilage missing in his knee somewhere due to the prior bone bruise more than likely. could be as small of an area as millimeters. Think Stoudamire's was 1 cm by 1 cm area. They went in to do a scope and noticed it and decided to repair. Can think of quite a few guys recently in the nfl who have had it done. Vilma, Foster, Bradshaw, Winslow, Walter Jones, Deuce......Seems to relieve most from the prior pain they were feeling.

did Westbrook ever have it?--- I seem to remember an argument that he did or didn't a couple of years ago..

I feel much better knowing that D Foster is Bush's best comparison point. No doubt Bush owners will feel similarly comforted....imagining Bush putting up D Foster numbers the rest of his career.

The Texans were geniuses!
:lmao:Charlie Casserly really avoided some land mines in that draft.
And yet he still gets flack for it somehow. Maybe after a few years of hindsight he'll be a GM again.
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile. Most of his drafting history was atrocious. Edit: And his FA acquisitions and his trades.

bump

article on the blogger saying that Dr. Andrews didnt do a full "micro fracture" surgery but used some mirco fracture techniques to help with Reggie's Knee.

might not be as bad as first thought but a concern none the less

If this is accurate, then now could be a very good time to buy low.
