Replacable / Irreplaceable Members of Popular Bands (1 Viewer)

Wife and I were driving in to work today and a Beatles song came on and I asked her (a big Beatles fan) who (if you had to) could be replaced and who couldn't.

Obviously the lines would be set on Paul vs. John and Ringo vs. George, but then I got to thinking about other popular bands such as:

Eagles

Nirvana

Van Halen

Kiss (for the heck of it)

Rush

REM

Pearl Jam

The Who

Thought it might make for a good Thursday discussion.

If you think about it, that newbie Neil is a replacement in Rush.

Seriously, Geddy and Alex might want to record and tour again; but since Neil isn't as into the touring anymore, the tour this summer might have been it as far as major tours go. There is some talk of them doing a 'tour' by only doing extended stops at large cities, like a bunch of nights at MSG or something like that. As a fan, keeping hopes up.
