Republican National Convention - Cleveland style (1 Viewer)

There may not be enough :lmao: s in the world if this thing goes off the rails.  If it goes as planned we can probably cover things with a rush order.

Dressed as Hunger Games character Caesar Flickerman (part of The Late Show "Hungry For Power Days" bit Colbert has been doing since September), the comedian held the stage Sunday with enough time to say a few words.

"[Trump] has formed an alliance with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence," Colbert announced theatrically. He then bowed his head and apologized for blacking out at the mention of Pence. He continued: "So it is my honor to hereby launch and begin the 2016 Republican National Hungry for Power Games!"

The RNC technically gave The Late Show permission to film on the floor, but this is probably not what the Republicans had in mind — evidenced by the security guard who appeared to escort Colbert offstage.

Mid-stride, Colbert turned back toward the guard to say, "Look, I know I’m not supposed to be up here. But let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump."

A group of delegations, meeting the threshold required, submitted a petition for a roll call vote on the rules.  Chair did a quick aye/nay instead.  A bunch of "NeverTrump" supporters lose it and start chanting "Roll Call Vote."  Chair makes a quick exit.  Colorado walks off the floor.  People toss their badges to the ground.  Sen. Mike Lee tells C-Span that he hopes that the Chair did not have a medical emergency come up.

Chair comes back -- announces that a few of the delegations that had initially signed on to the petition withdrew their request.  So, no roll call vote is done.  Still lots of upset people at the convention.  Melania Trump charged with binding the party's wounds tonight.
Charles is in charge tonight

It's happening.

Anything interesting happening?
Some delegations have walked out after a "voice vote" on the whole rules package, including allowing a floor vote on opening the nomination up.

That's it. Never Trump is dead. The GOP convention rules are adopted.

GOP convention recesses until 7:50. Actually running 5 minutes ahead of schedule right about now

More on the chat being disabled with screens

As former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle gave a speech promoting inroads that Republicans have made with Jewish voters, as well as ripping the Democrats for allegedly being more hostile to Israel, Trump’s alt-right followers flooded the page with anti-Semitic vitriol.

Among other things, the Trump fans wrote “Press H for Hitler,” “JOOS,” “BAN JEWS,” “OY GEVALT,” and “****.”

I'm really hoping that the strippers and hookers are going to pace themselves over the next couple of days.  There is a ton of money for these girls to make but they need to stay hydrated and get some sleep during the day.  It is fine if they need to blow some lines to keep them going through the late shifts but ladies I beg you don't get home at 4am and start hoovering your profits up your nose.  Be disciplined with your drug use and maximize your earning's potential.  God Bless America.

MSNBC reporter ‘hassled’ off RNC floor by security during liveshot

Kelly O’Donnell, an NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent and a correspondent for MSNBC, was ushered off the convention floor by security personnel during a live segment while covering the Republican National Convention.

O’Donnell, who was reporting live from Cleveland during the 5 p.m. hour for a special edition of “The Place for Politics,” told anchor Chuck Todd that she was being “hassled” on the convention floor while trying to report on the chaos that erupted when some Republicans tried to force a roll call vote to change the rules governing the convention.

Security personnel, visible behind O’Donnell, repeatedly approached the reporter and interrupted her, attempting to move her from her live reporting post.

O’Donnell flashed her press badge to security at the RNC as she was reporting, but she was visibly flustered during the segment, which was broken up with repeated interruptions. Ultimately, O’Donnell cut her segment short, telling Todd that she was being told she and her camera person needed to leave the convention floor.

“I don’t want you to lose your credentials, Kelly,” Todd said, turning to another correspondent.

It's unclear whether security escorted O'Donnell off the convention floor. We've reached out to MSNBC to find out more about what happened and will update once we hear back.

I can't imagine we ever get another party convention more entertaining than this circus is going to be. Best seat in the house is your couch. Look at these mentally unstable freaks in the crowd.

Is that the one front right with tats on her hips and what appears to be c-section scars?

When I look at this photo, I can help but see a bunch of faces...nips are the eyes, navel is the nose, and either fat folds or bush making up the mouth.  The short pudgy one on the far right was the first to get me, and now I can't unsee them

Updated: She is back on the floor. MSNBC chalks it up to a misunderstanding

I wonder how the author of the story knows that the comments were from Trump supporters.
They were from white supremacists. How many white supremacists can there be who aren't Trump supporters? I mean, surely there are a great deal of Trump supporters who aren't white supremacists, but it seems pretty unlikely that there are many white supremacists who aren't Trump supporters.

Also, while I didn't see any of the comments, if they were solidly pro-Trump in content, I think it's a fair inference that they were from Trump supporters.

Or are you suggesting that they may have been from Hillary supporters who were trying to make Trump look bad? That seems implausible. In my experience, people don't have the stomach to use the n-word or other vile epithets like that when they are just kidding. I think anyone who uses the n-word in that way, in that context, is pretty much by definition a true, no-fooling-around racist.

There were very few comments that weren't just racist in the story that PlasmaDogPlasma linked - maybe 3 (only 1 actually mentioned Trump at all, the other two were about building a wall and it's not clear if they are sincere or sarcastic).  The rest were all just racist comments.  I don't think it's out of the question to assume that there may be liberals spamming the RNC live feed comments.
