Rethinking the jags offense. (1 Viewer)

Yes. I know. It's preseason. But that offense has looked spry tonight. Against a pretty good defense. Henne looks sharp. Gerhart looks like a beast. Marquis lee and Mercedes Lewis looking good.

This is an offense I have ignored for several years now so I'm clueless about them.

I don't know much about the jags' receiving corps. Who are the starters and who are the ones to own this year and beyond? It's doesn't seem like the depth chart is set in stone.

Does marquis lee carve out a big role starting this year? Cecil shorts?

I'm thinking one of these guys is going to be a late round gem in fantasy this year.

this isnt your daddys bears defense
Yes I know...but are you discounting the fluidity of this offense BC they aren't playing a top defense?

Again, I know it's preseason...but people bump players up their sheets all the time BC of preseason performances (I'm looking at you, mark ingram proponents lol).

So, why can't an absolute late round gem come out of this?

Marqise Lee being targeted a lot is a good sight. I don't necessarily think he looked "good" with his catches though. Too much stutter stepping and not enough decisiveness. His one catch in the redzone where he had some space, I think he could have ran that in if he kept running instead of stopping and trying to dance to juke the guy out. If he can learn that this isn't backyard ball anymore where he's just more athletically gifted than everyone else then he could be promising this year. His targets should be there even when Shorts is back.

Sooo many good wrs this year. Best one I've seen in my 20 years of playing this game. Cooks, brown, Latimer, Lee, Watkins, Evans, cooks. Benjamin and I'm Probably missing some. Sick.

I really like Marqise Lee. The Jags got a steal in 2nd round.
yeah not really. See Rotoworld's article on rookie WR ratings and their ceilings based on historical data. They applied a fairly credible formula for effectiveness to Lee's production vs age and he came in near last of the top 20 WR prospects this year. This article was done months ago, before the draft even. Guess who was #1? Brandin Cooks. Same guy that's been lighting it up so far. Banking on anything from Lee this year is an exercise in futility.

1,100 and 11 at age 19 is a bad sign? These sites need to give the pseudo-informatics a rest.

Right?!? Why even play the game if Rotoworld has it all figured out before these kids even take their first regular season snap.

Not able to watch. Please tell me about Gerhart. Can he carry the load this year? Is he a potential RB1?
No but a high end 2 if things work out.
What makes you so sure gerhart can't be a rb1 if he's stays healthy? He's a good Rb. And he'll be the bellcow and the gl back for the jags this year.
TDs, I just don't know how any opportunities he'll get. Is it possible? Sure. Probable? I'd say no. Hell, I own him and would love for him to be an RB1 but just not sure he's got the ability.

Mjd played on some of the worst jags teams and somehow managed to be productive and score Tds year in and year out. The offense was centered around the run BC they couldn't pass.

If gerhart stays healthy, I think he is going to make a lot of people hit their heads against the wall for not grabbing him In the 3rd round of their drafts. Jmho

Ya and that's one of the reasons I sought him out and he's on my team but I don't think he's as good as MJD.

I believe this is also the formula that was pimping Allen Robinson and downgrading Kelvin Benjamin.

I'll trust my eyes over anything that Rotoworld puts out. This was a very deep WR class. Lee would have been a high first round pick if he had been able to declare a year earlier. Cooks looks like a definite winner too and is in a much better fantasy situation. But the Jags couldn't draft him because the Saints did first. Hence the steal on Lee in the 2nd round. The only other WR that was drafted after Lee that I think has the potential to be top 5 in this class is Davante Adams. And I seriously doubt any scout had Adams rated higher or equal to Lee.

He looked very good between the tackles. They tried a couple outside runs and he (and the o-line/push) looked pathetic. CHI just strung them out for 0 +/- 1yd each time. If it keeps up they may get into telegraphing their plays where Todman/Robinson are in for the outside carries... again not much push anyways. But, then again, what the hell do I know?

What to make of Hurns? Does he have a chance to be relevant if ARob comes back slowly (or even if he comes back quickly)? They were leaning on him a lot, and he looked like he could be Rod Streater part 2.

Yeah, ANYTHING RotoOpinion puts out has to be taken with a grain of salt. I go there for the news only. Have to sift through the opinionated B.S. first though.
