Retired Cop Kills Man for Texting (2 Viewers)

I really don't give a #### about gun ownership.

The theater killing story was/is interesting.
This doesn't seem interesting at all. There are going to be a lot of witnesses that saw the events, so I don't see much controversy over what really happened. I imagine this will end up pretty clear cut. I'm amazed that this got to 20+ pages so far.
I'm pretty sure the witnesses will all agree on the way the events happened. No chance any of them saw things from varying perspectives.
:oldunsure: Of course the perspectives will vary, but the theme will be constant. That's what the detectives are after.
The dead body will be fairly constant too.
####!! I walk into that every ###### time!/lieutenant kafee

Has anyone brought up how lame texting in a theater is? Surely we can all agree that must stop.
And the popcorn...had they not had popcorn to throw there would have never been a reason for the guy to draw his gun. Besides it sucks when it gets stuck in your teeth so we might as well ban it from consumption. If you think about it, it's really the movie theater's fault.

Nobody brought it up last week. Or the week before. Or the week before. Suddenly this week it's become a huge national problem that must be stomped out. Not sure why.

I thought it had been established that the shooter threw popcorn first...

Based on one poster stating it in this thread?Did Reeves and his wife even have popcorn? I have still yet to see this confirmed anywhere, the only news piece I could find of an eyewitness had this to say:

Authorities and witnesses said the chilling encounter began after Reeves grew angry that Oulson was sending text messages as previews rolled inside the cineplex's theater 10.

Charles Cummings, 68, who was sitting nearby with his son, Alex, 34, said Reeves asked Oulson to stop several times, but was brushed off.

Reeves then stormed out of the theater to complain to the theater's management, authorities said.

When he returned, Oulson, who was sitting with his wife, confronted Reeves about going to the staff, and claimed he was sending messages to his young daughter.

The men began to argue, and it got physical, authorities and witnesses said.

"Somebody throws popcorn. I'm not sure who threw the popcorn," Charles Cummings told reporters outside the theater Monday.

"And then bang, he was shot."
He doesn't say popcorn was thrown back and forth, he just said somebody threw popcorn - most likely when Oulsen threw the bag at Reeves' head

.

All the theaters I go to (AMC, Arclight) tell you to turn off your phone when the previews come on.

This guy is one deranged killer. Who would even consider pulling a gun and shooting a guy you were arguing with in a theater? That's some twisted stuff.

some details need to be fixed

Reeves was with his wife and sat behind Oulson, 43, and his wife

Curtis Reeve’s police officer son was just entering the theater when the shot was fired

Chad may have been quicker to anger than usual upon having his date with Nicole disrupted by what likely seemed to him a petty objection to a legitimate communication regarding his child. He is said to have thrown a bag of popcorn—popcorn being by volume, weight, and force one of the very least harmful projectiles.

You are trolling, you are not clearing anything up. msommer stated that Reeves threw popcorn at Oulsen causing Oulsen to throw his bag at Reeves. You are trying to be a comedian and failing.

No, you are an idiot. You are mixing up the eye witness' son with the shooter's son. :wall:

Reeves was sitting with his wife.

Oulsen was sitting with his wife.

The eyewitness, Charles Cummings was sitting with his son.

You reference Reeves' son walking into the theater during the shooting.

Does not sound good for the old man shooter: Witnesses say he made statement that he will"teach the young guy to throw popcorn on him". After shooting said out loud" I can;t believe I shot him" Also told his wife to shut her f-ing mouth after she said what the young guy did'nt deserve to be shot,

And completely avoidable with the slightest bit of self control. Maybe THIS dude should be the one fighting Zimmerman....put a gun in the middle of the ring gladiator style...whoever wins gets fed to the lions.

because leaving the theater and then coming back and then getting into a verbal confrontation is less disruptive to fellow moviegoers than a text...

How many people's lives ruined by the presence of a gun here:

Old man who spends his twilight years in jail

Dead guy

Dead guy's widow

Dead guy's daughter who has no father

Shooter's wife who now spends her twilight years with a husband in prison

All because this guy just had to "pack heat" to a movie theater.

I agree, but this ####face needs to rot... The damage has been done to the victim's family, now his actions have to destroy his own family and children.

Do you do the same brilliant analysis whenever someone goes out driving and gets involved in a fatal accident?

If he'd only stayed home...

No because we need to drive cars every day. We need to do tons of things that involve danger every day. This man did not need to bring a loaded gun into this theater. There is a difference between engaging in necessary risk and unnecessary risk. HTH.

Now imagine this old man was in the Aurora theater during the shooting, you'd be calling him a hero instead.

And last time I checked there's nothing in the constitution that reads:

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms, but only in situations approved by poster Clifford.

All because this guy just had to "pack heat" to a movie theater.

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms, but only in situations approved by poster Clifford.
quite the assumption there.

Good, let this demented old #### die in jail... Hopefully he lands in gen pop.
How many people's lives ruined by the presence of a gun here:Old man who spends his twilight years in jail

Dead guy

Dead guy's widow

Dead guy's daughter who has no father

Shooter's wife who now spends her twilight years with a husband in prison

Why do you keep misquoting this amendment?

Such a sad story
And completely avoidable with the slightest bit of self control. Maybe THIS dude should be the one fighting Zimmerman....put a gun in the middle of the ring gladiator style...whoever wins gets fed to the lions.
Did you get this nugget from your buddies at the shooting range or come up with it all by yourself? Good job associating an unlawful shooting with a lawful shooting, seems like you are still bitter about that one.
