Rex Grossman startable? (1 Viewer)

This guy has looked ok in preseason. He gets to play at home against the injury ravaged Giants Defense. They lost a starting CB (Thomas), and starting LB (Goff), and Osi Umenyiora is out week one. How can 1 defense absorb so much loss right before season start and play effectively.

Believe me I am not advocating Grossman as a permanent fix. But I do see if your week 1 matchup is tough or you have marginal starters then he could be a shark move. This is based on how many injuries the Giants D has had and Shanahan being able to take advantage of that. He has thrown a lot in the preseason.

I see a potential very nice sleeper in Rex Grossman. If only for week 1. At least 250-275 yds and 2 TD's

I am actually considering sitting Romo against the Jets. Emotional game in NY and Jets D looks stout against the pass.

He put up some nice games to end the 2010 season, but one thing to remember is that a Rex Grossman with pressure in his face can be a very mistake prone QB. The Giants have one of the top pass rushing units in the league.

good luck with that

Giants D injuries currently

CB Prince Amukamara (Foot)

DT Marvin Austin (Pectoral) out for season

LB Jonathan Goff (ACL) out for season

LB Clint Sintim (Knee) out for season

CB Terrell Thomas (ACL) out for season

DE Osi Umenyiora (Knee)

CB Brian Witherspoon (ACL) out for season

3 CB's, 2 LB's, and DT and DE all out week one and many for season. at the very least being down 3 CB's Their D will be a sieve Sunday.

Sitting Romo for Grossman may work out but I could not do it. Romo is a solid FF QB. He has proven it over many games. Grossman has not been a team's starter for most of his career for a reason.

Agreed, In most situations. Yet the Jets have made Tom Brady look pedestrian in their home stadium. I would never suggest such a thing otherwise. Jets D one of toughest to pass against at home. Giants D ravaged in secondary and home field advantage.
