Ricky Williams (1 Viewer)

Ricky Williams will reportedly start at running back for the Dolphins when they face the Steelers on Monday night.

Jesse Chatman's injured right ankle hasn’t shown much improvement and he’s walking with a noticeable limp – so Williams will apparently get the nod. His touches will be somewhat limited, making him more of a flex option than a RB2. Use Williams at your own risk, but this should be interesting.

RUN RICKY RUN !!!

I think that it is pretty obvious that Ricky is running for a contract - literally; I think he runs well tonight

15 carries: 75 yards and a Touch

Other predictions......???

I cant believe that this guy is their best option, I bet he gets 10 carries for 40yrds and Chatman still plays and outshines him.

I am not an owner, but I am very curious to see what he can do. I am sure this is not the way they envisioned "showcasing" him (against Pittsburgh), but I am curious to see whether he will be rusty, fresh or a combo of both. This is pretty uncharted territory where an elite RB took a lot of time off not due to injury and is attempting a comeback.

I'll go with 18/70 + 4/25, no scores. Who else have they got? Is Gado an option? Where's Booker? If the 'Phins are starting Ricky tonite, they have essentially given up the rights to him next year IIRC. If he were inactive tonite, they could have kept his rights and traded him or kept him another year so I'm thinking that Ricky is that much more valuble right now than any other option they have and could very well get over 20 touches. I'll amend my 18/70 and say he gets 19/90 with Polo out.

Anyone know/guess how they might use a mix of Chatman and Ricky if both play?

Would Chatman still stand to be a third down back with the chance at some carries and receptions in that manner?

If this game is out of hand, would Chatman or Ricky be more likely to play in a passing role? I can't recall Ricky's receiving skills, or lack thereof.

i think you are right.... 6 games = a full season

Chatman. ;) Weeks 13 and 14 are the Jets and Bills, so he could be good for those two.

i would love to know why he's not getting a shot...
Cause Miami wants to showcase Ricky the rest of the year and if he shows he still can be a starting runningback they will trade him in the offseason for whatever he is worth draft pick wise.

Well Cleveland thought going up against Pittsburgh was a great way to showcase their QB, only to bench him after 3 quarters. Turned out to be the right move, but what a tough showcase.

I swear if Ricky puts together a string of nice games I'm going to kick my own ### for not grabbing him off the wire after staring at his name for half a day.

In playing him tonite, they are doing the opposite of showcasing him. Activating him for this game, the 'Phins lose the rights to him when this year is over. This is a very generous offer by the 'Phins front office (or very dumb), allowing Ricky to seek a contract that should pay him a little more than he would have earned w/ Miami next year.

Interesting. Link?

He will get shut down. Miami sucks to begin with, Pitt is mad after an embarassing loss to the Jets and Ricky can't possibly be in football shape.

9-19 0tds.

no catches.

I will be cheering for him though.

I thought they had him through 2008.

Miami as a team sucks, but you should check out their rushing totals before you just give up on them. Their offensive line has been the only bright spot of the year and if Ricky gets the touches he will put up impressive numbers.

Got Ricky in my starting lineup tonight!!!

Game is already won, but that is how desperate I am at RB... I've lost Ronnie Brown, Lamont Jordan forgot how to run the football, Pittman had a chance but keeps getting dinged. Kenny Watson is now my #2 RB in a must start 3 RB league.

I am hoping that Ricky can hold up for the rest of the year and get even a bit of production.

I think he goes 16/85 rush + 3/25 rec with a TD!

SPARK IT UP DUDE! :fishing:

Weeks 13 and 14 look good but 15 and 16 are against the Ravens and Pats.

Ricky's trade value has been consistent for about three years now: Zero. With Goodell as commish, it may have actually gotten worse. The Fins may have to throw in a 7th round pick for a team to take Ricky.I am sure the Fins know this as well. Cam Cameron is looking to win games, not showcase players for draft pick he may not get to use if he can't win a game.

I got called a guppy in the Pool for dropping LJ (on the assumption we are all being played and LJ is out for the year) for Ricky last week. (redraft)

I feel better now. :lmao:

I would be absolutely shocked if Ricky does anything. Does anyone remember his stats from the CFL? I know his first few games the numbers we abysmal. That was in Canada.

The Blog has an update:

[MONDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE] Last night when the Dolphins went to bed here in The Burgh, it was pretty well known among players and coaches that Ricky Williams was going to get his first start all of seven days after his first Dolphins practice.

Well, while that may still hold true, the situation has become more fluid in the past couple of hours. Seems regular starter Jesse Chatman, limping on a bad ankle since the Philadelphia game last week, has been telling coaches he feels much better now and wants to play.

So now, although it looks like Williams will still figure prominently into Miami's plans, the resurfacing of Chatman -- who did not practice full speed even once this week -- could change how Cam Cameron handles the RB situation.

I'm guessing you'll feel worse after watching him play.
Lord, here we go again. What, I'd feel better having LJ on the bench than a live body on the field with at least the potential to do me some good?
