Ridley not at practice (1 Viewer)

hasnt shown to practice today - some speculating a "rest day".. but dont you usually have to have a big role to get a rest?

something may be up. pay attention

Stevan Ridley (undisclosed) was not spotted at the beginning of practice Wednesday.

We didn't see Ridley incur any injury on Sunday night, so perhaps this is a rest day. More will be known after practice. If Ridley were ever to miss time, LeGarrette Blount would handle the majority of early-down work. Passing back Brandon Bolden would see a bump in usage as well.

Bellichick doesn't really strike me as the kind of coach who would give a rest day to his underperforming running back. Something is going on, even if it's just a minor injury.

Ridley going to Cleveland for Gordon before Gordon suits up Thursday night?

Ridley going to Cleveland for Gordon?......
If so, then the next RB up at NE will certainly get a boost in value. With Thompkins coming on lately, Amendola and Gronk coming back very soon, Gordon's value would possibly go down imo.

What would this be for more draft picks from the Patriots? No way that is an even straight up trade if it happens

Gordon by far would be their best WR.
That's why I said possibly (more mouths to feed), but I agree he would be a great receiver to have and a huge deepball threat for Brady.

Isn't Wednesday a pretty standard rest day for players? Lots of guys get a Wednesday off now and then.

Sure but he hardly even needs to shower after games with the light work load he's had. I think Gostkowski is more deserving of a rest

I just grabbed Blount off the Free Agent list...

but seriously, little to no chance this is a "rest day"

I actually read that he was shopping at Target when a ton of binders, notebooks, stickers, and sparkly pens and pencils fell on him. They said Ridley might have the dreaded Lisa Frank injury.

It's been a while since I've seen a punchline without a joke. B- for effort, though.

Good indication Gronk will be back. Bill Belichick needs a replacement player for his "let's mess with the media" game.

Hm, well besides Ridley, also out are Slater (injured) and Wilfork (injured).

On the other hand Jamaal Charles also did not practice today, and that's being put down as just rest.

Charles is a stud, is proving he's a stud, and is on the field almost every play.

Ridley... kinda plays.

I know a guy in the organization, and according to him, ridley saw my cousin get on a bus yesterday.

take it for what it's worth.

This topic is of interest to many people, I'm sure. Even if it is just a day of rest, I'm paying attention. It's a shame one has to wade through 75% nonsense to get to The topic. And most of you aren't even funny, you're just on the Internet and no one can smack you for consistently being unfunny. Do better, folks.

Agreed. This topic is interesting because the Pats' RB1 will have a lot of value. This isn't the Browns we're talking about. Veterans getting a day off for rest isn't uncommon, but Ridley isn't exactly very veteran, nor has his workload dictated a day off, so this is definitely an intriguing situation. Much better than "I'm starting player X over player ____". Those threads should just get moved straight to the AC forum.

I'm now leaning towards Blount more so than Bolden if Ridley's absence means anything whatsoever. Blount has been specifically eating into Ridley's carries weekly, leading the team in rushing yards over the past two weeks. Maybe BB thinks he has something in Blount and views Ridley as expendable. Who knows.

maybe you should be in the other ridley missed practice thread

Somewhat on topic. What is wrong with Ridley? He has been productive in the past if he could just hang onto the football. Before the season I was reading how he was a beast and looked ready for a big season if he could hang onto the football. Since the season has started he has been a big disappointment. Is it an injury we are not aware of? Something else? I think there has to be more than what we are seeing here.

you are seeing teams not respecting the passing game as much, therefore the running lanes are not there.

Knee injury for Ridley. No indication of seriousness, but it might be why he has been limited or why Blount got so many totes on Sunday
