Ridley not at practice (1 Viewer)

There have only been 2 goal line carries this year. The first one was given to Vereen after Ridley was benched in week 1. The second was given to Ridley in week 4. Bolden has gotten zero carries inside the 5 yard line.
Check again...

Huh? Bolden got one just last week.
Don't mind him, he's just an uninformed troll.

1st and 3 at ATL 3 B.Bolden left end for 3 yards, TOUCHDOWN. The Replay Assistant challenged the runner broke the plane ruling, and the play was REVERSED. B.Bolden left end to ATL 1 for 2 yards (D.Trufant).
I was just looking at the play-by-play. What exactly was trolling about my post anyway? At least I'm not the one getting excited about starting McGahee tonight, DB.

Getting back on topic

Ridley is listed on the official Patriots web-site as "limited" with a "knee" injury.

Blount looked like the best RB against Atlanta, at least late in the game. It's hard to say if he would get the official start, but I see him doing some damage if he gets 12-15 carries.
I'm a big Blount fan/apologist, but he only had 4 runs in the 4th quarter. The first was for a 47 yard TD. The next three went for -1, 1, 0. Just trying to be fair here. I am not so secretly hoping he gets the start, although even if he does, playing @ CIN is not a great time to get your debut.

Interesting stat..

Backup LeGarrette Blount has exactly 17 carries with a fullback on the field and 17 carries without. With one he averages 6.2 yards per carry, and without one he averages 2.5, which is the second biggest difference in the league.

Unless you're Johnathan Franklin.

This is true. Although he did come in and get all 13 of his carries in the second half. But even with his 13/103 effort, the Bengals are only allowing 3.8 ypc on the season. Pretty solid. I'd have to be pretty desperate to start Blount in any capacity (RB2 or flex) if Ridley is active. Forte managed 19/50/1 against them. But Pit and Cle are a mess, so maybe they padded Cincy's stats making them appear more stout than they really are. Starks had 14/55/0 which is 3.9 ypc. Damn it, now I'm starting to think Blount could be a decent flex if he gets the start...

Congrats sir. I honestly LOL'd.

Still can't start anyone in this backfield, next thing you know Devlin is running for two scores. You are in a bind if you have to start Blount or Bolden, thats for sure.

I have to believe Blount is the play here, as Bolden is still not completely healthy. Perhaps Bolden in PPR formats has more appeal.

Oh how will I ever do without the 4 pts he would've given me????
General McClellan once conveyed to Pres. Lincoln that he was unable to move forward because his horses were too fatigued. An exasperated Lincoln replied to McClellan asking "what the horses of your army have done . . . that fatigue anything?"

What has Ridley done that he should be injured and unable to practice? He did not leave last week's game with any apparent injury. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Its gotta be Blount.

From Rotoworld:

NESN's Doug Kyed spotted Brandon Bolden (knee) "limping in the locker room" on Thursday.

Bolden noticeably aggravated the right knee injury in last Sunday night's win over Atlanta. Kyed acknowledges Bolden appeared to be moving better in Friday's practice, but he was still listed as "limited" and questionable on the injury report. While we fully expect Bolden to play against the Bengals, it's hard to imagine the Patriots giving such a banged-up back much of a workload.

Any updates on Bolden? If we know Ridley didn't practice, why no news on Bolden?

I've got to figure if he practiced fully, its a 50/50 guess as to who to start between Bolden and Blount. If Bolden was limited again, all signs point to Blount.

My post right above you as a quote from Rotoworld about Bolden. Looks like he was limited on Friday. And was still limping around on Thursday.

Blount is officially a must add correct? All leagues he is a bell cow this week and he is on a high powered offense.

I added him as soon as ridler missed first practice, so yes must add especially if you need bye week help

just dropped bolden for blount in a 12 team ppr league mainly because i need help THIS WEEK. was going to start zac stacy (clearly my rb2 situation is horrid) but now blount looks like the workhorse. then again belichick is not one to be trusted with injury reports....

FBG really whiffed on Ridley
I think a bunch of people did. I saw him as a low-end RB1, high RB2. With all the questions NE had going into the year, I thought they would rely on the running game to help them. Then once Vereen went down, I really thought Ridley would take over. But he just can't seemt o get it going. And it's not like the OL is bad because Blount seems to be doing alright. Just seems like a strange year for RBs.

Outside of a fumbling in Week 1 he's actually been the same as last year in this Pat's fans eyes. Only thing that has changed is playcalling. He's even looked good catching the ball.

Not a fan of Leg Blount, but had to pick him up just in case. There is a strong fish odor emanating from this thread.

Per Rotoworld:

Stevan Ridley (thigh/knee) has been ruled out for Week 5 at Cincinnati.

Patriots beat writers were surprised Ridley was on the injury report at all to open the week. It became clearer and clearer he wasn't going to face the Bengals when he missed practice each day. Fantasy owners should hang onto Ridley in hopes of a return in a week or two; reports indicate his injury is not a long-term deal. LeGarrette Blount will stand in as New England's early-down pounder, with banged-up Brandon Bolden handling the "passing back" role.

I'm thinking Bengals give Patriots all they can handle and jump out to an early lead where New England plays catch up all day. Meaning Bolden is the strong play here, especially in PPR leagues.

How is Belechik?

Any chance if Blount does well, that he runs away with the job?

Got to think with Gronk and Amendola coming back...they'll be movign the ball with ease = goal line carries

Looks like I'm starting Jonathan Franklin then. Too bad this info didn't come out yesterday or I would have started McGahee.

already ruled OUT for Sunday...

this is gonna be a multiple week thing
Most stuff I read suggests it's minor but if you look at in the context of guys like Gronk and Amendola have been questionable and not playing for a month it's kind of telling he's already been ruled out.

Yea the guy who was limping thursday is the play *rolls eyes*
CJ Spiller was limping earlier this week too. Was even gimpy on his 50+ yard TD run last night. Some guys play through things, some don't. I think Bolden plays and plays well. They need him, and this is a big opportunity for Bolden. The matchup seems better suited to Bolden's versatility than Blounts predictability as well.

Blount or Rashard?
I like Blount. He's averaging 4.6 ypc. Boldin might still be in the picture, though, but the Pats line is strong at run blocking.

Oakland's isn't and Reece might be in the picture, though Jennings has come though before when filling in for MJD.

why would you start frank when Lacy is bacK?
Because it's either Franklin or the best available on the WW which would be Donald Brown. Gotta figure Lacy will be eased in a bit so Franklin will get some additional touches.
Lacy has been practicing in full all week. He's coming back from a concussion, not a sprained knee. He's either 100% or cant play. No reason to ease him in.
