One of the best songs ever written IMO. Gorgeously constructed.
Jimmy Webb FTRLook for "I'll Be Me", his daughter's documentary of his last tour - a lovely, heart-rending couple of hrs.
Among other things, Glen Campbell made my favorite couplet ever, "I need you more than want you/And I want you for all time" my favorite couplet ever. RIP -
The late Leon Russell always said that Glen was the greatest guitarist he has ever heard. My parents played Glen's records in the house while I was growing up, and I loved hearing him then and I still do now. I love his rendition of John Hartford's "Gentle on My Mind." RIPHuge talent who could sing like an angel and play guitar to beat the devil.
He was also a member of the Beach Boys when Brian Wilson wasn't able to tour.Always fascinated by the fact he was part of the Wrecking Crew...big fan of Southern Nights...just a real pleasant song...
As a young'un easily my favorite song. RIP Glen."Rhinestone Cowboy"
I hate for anyone to deal with it. IMO, it's the worst thing you can get.Alzheimers is so scary to me. I hate he had to deal with that. :(
Agreed. My grandmother had it. She knew she wasnt the same as she used to be and it was so frustrating for her.I hate for anyone to deal with it. IMO, it's the worst thing you can get.
Same with mine. I didn't see it first hand as she was in Iran, but man I heard the stories. The scariest one for her and my cousin was when she took my cousin's baby out in his stroller for a walk around the block. 1/2 hour later she shows up without the stroller. Everyone frantically went to find it and found the stroller left on the sidewalk a block over. Thankfully no one kidnapped the baby. She just could not remember. So heartbreaking for everyone involved. :(Agreed. My grandmother had it. She knew she wasnt the same as she used to be and it was so frustrating for her.
Will give it top 100 consideration in my Top 25,000 thread. One of the best songs ever written IMO. Gorgeously constructed.
IIRC, Carol Kaye's bass riff opens the tune, but the solo is Glen on Carol's bass.
