I am just lost on how everyone is ranking Rocky IV ahead of Rocky II.
My order is pretty simple:

Rocky II is a good movie…..but it just feels clunky compared to the awesome III and MTV paced IV.

I think what I love most about 4 is the training montages are simply second to none.

III’s story is so good…..fall from grace, Apollo takes in Rocky and trains him….just so many angles.

Rocky II just plods too long before the highly anticipated rematch with Apollo. And for the record….Apollo destroyed him lol. Rocky just had that iron chin and of course the “Eye of the Tiger”

I'll give you 3 reasons I'd say 4 > 2.....

1) There's no action at all in it for like the first 45-60 minutes. And lots of that time is him sitting bedside reading that dumb Western story.
2) Rocky looks like more of an idiot in this movie than in any other. He can't get ANY job and the Beast cologne "smeel mainly" scene is cringy.
3) Meh on the ending. Still not 100.0% convinced Rocky survived the count there....

Wife reported to me that ever since the twins watched Rocky III and school has ended that they like to put on their boxing gloves, get on the trampoline and box, repeating frequently: "I pity the fool". No injuries yet and while my wife is less than thrilled, there's a big beam of pride deep down inside this guy.

I guess that's why I like 2, similar to 1. I think 1 and 2 are movies more about "people" instead of "boxing." I like that. 3 was all more about the boxing, and 4 even more so.

Don't get me wrong. I love them all. I just really enjoyed the pacing of 1 and 2.

Want to rewatch with my son this weekend, have heard a lot of anime easter eggs are in the film, due to Jordan being a big anime fan, and want to see what sticks out to my son who only reads books that are backwards and only watches cartoons that need subtitles.

Today on Facebook my friend's mom informed my wife that my friend, his brother, and I when we were kids started a large bonfire in the street with burnt out fireworks one 4th of July evening and sang "Take it back... doo doo doo doo" ala Frank Stallone style. I had completely forgotten about this and THAT IS AWESOME.

Yeah honestly dame was a great villian. Its worst when you have to fight your friend. It was well done and I think Mike jordan did well in his first director stunt
And the fights were awesome
