Rodgers Ranking (1 Viewer)

I normally see Rodgers as a top tier QB, regardless of match-ups, but with NYG coming to town and his recent concussion, doesn't Dodd's ranking seem to not include any risk of him not finishing the game? I realize that there is a risk of injury to any player but the whole ranking list is built on hedges. Rodger's was recently injured and news coming out of GNB still has an air of nervousness to it. Having him listed above P. Manning and Rivers seems like it might be stretch, even if he didn't just get his brains scrambled. For everybody who managed to win their game, when he got his first injury, it has got to feel like getting the gun in Russian Roulette when somebody else already has had a turn. NYG is like 16 slots higher than OAK (P. Manning's match-up) in least fantasy points allowed to the QB position. River's match-up against CIN (who is ranked about the same as NYG in FFP allowed to QB) would also seem favorable, compared to Rodger's. Is the thought that GNB can't run so they will pass, to stay with NYG (shootout theory), applicable? If I was NYG, I would let GNB ground game beat me before I would Rodger's arm. It would also seem that NYG's pass rush and GNB O-line, is going to cause Rodgers to take some hits. GNB has let up 34 sacks this year (and 50 last year), can Rodger's head hold up to a strong pass rush like NYG's (43 sacks, #2 overall)? I wouldn't pretend that I have any where near the knowledge that Dodd's, has in FFB, it's more along the lines of needing to understand in where he is coming from.

P.S. If this is a HONDA, sorry. If someone wants to give me a link to the search engine tutorial, I would appreciate it; because the way I use it, it is a useful as a life-size map.

Does it really matter? How many owners are deciding between Rodgers and Rivers or Manning this week?
Well I guess that in the grand scheme nothing really matters but Rodgers is ranked #4 overall so I guess it matters to more people than just Rivers and Manning owners. Then again it matters to all Rodgers owners who might have concerns about him making it through a game. I guess this same question could be asked of every player on the boards; it isn't like there is a player whom plays on every team.

I'm less concerned about the concussion than I would be a different injury. In theory, a player with a concussion can't play until he has a clean bill of health and risk of re-injury is minimal. It's not like a bad leg or sore shoulder, where he may "give it a try" but be one hit away from shutting it down. He shouldn't be at any higher risk of injury than he would be in any other game.

At least that's what I'm telling myself. The Giants D, on the other hand... that could be a problem.

It being his second concussion this season, I for one am nervous of re-injury. I just see a few red flags with him playing today and how highly he is ranked. If he gets another concussion he is likely out for the year, does this make GNB pull him if the game is in hand? NYG is also a main concern with being able to clinch a playoff berth with a win. Last week until it all blew up in the fourth quarter, the Giants had held Vick to almost nothing. I seem to remember that Vick was like -4 in FFP at halftime in my league.

My point was that if you have Rodgers, you are unlikely to have another QB that you would even consider starting ahead of him. That is assuming you've heard of always starting your studs.

Your insight is keen. Your avatar ...bullseye.

You guys slay me, except for smcindoe, not one of you have the guts to chime in before the first snap with your predictions. As for Master Dodds, he has rarely steered me wrong, I was just hoping to get his feeling on how recovered Rodgers was. I did play Peyton and left about 22 points on the table. It might cost me but I'm in pretty good shape. Like my avatar, I keep rising from the ashes. I also left quite a good deal of points on the table with C. Palmer, but nobody picked him doing well, so I guess we won't question that ranking. Everything I posted was accurate, to me, and I would of bought that shirt if I started Rodgers and he went down while Manning sat on my bench. One last thing, while you guys were all hiding, waiting till the coast was clear, I was in a delivery room with my wife, watching her give birth to our second son. He is healthy and I'm king of the world, today. Good luck guys, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, to all of you!

Edit to add an "s" to Dodds's name.

Have to admit, I was nervous about Rodgers, and at the last minute, pulled him from my lineup. Luckily for me, my replacement was Freeman. However, it was an idiotic move on my part, even though it still worked out.

congrats to you on the son pittstownkiller and good job making a call and owning it. I think the funny thing here is it seems uncanny how often this happens here, that someone starts a separate thread to take a strong stand against a ranking or how a game will turn out and it seems they are almost always wrong.

Thanks Clete, it wasn't so much as thinking I knew better, it was more along the lines of knowing that I would have almost no time today to do any research. I laid out what I was thinking and was hoping someone would of agree or disagree with me, convincingly. Your right about it almost never working out when somebody sticks their neck out but after I wrote what I did above, I would of felt like a heel if I made someone not start Rodgers and then I did. I was close to putting Rodgers back in but decided to go on, with the courage of my convictions.

I am being laughed at in my league for starting Kitna over Rodgers this week. The sad thing is I had Cutler also. Most of the other owners claim they would have gone with Rodgers or Cutler over Kitna but over the last 6 weeks Kitna has been the #4 QB in the league. I didn't like either matchup and Rodgers comming off the head injury. Not starting Cutler or Rodgers is going to cost me the game this week. I just thought Kitna was a sure thing for 20 pts playing Arizon this week. Who would have thought he wouldn't play the entire game.

I make all kinds of mistakes myself, this week I started R. Jennings over Tampa Bay Mike. But I will say starting Kitna over Rodgers is a total gift to your opponent. The week before this the Giants gave up 52 points in my league to Vick. How do you not go with a quality QB like Rodgers at home against that kind of recent pointage?Sorry bro, that's a tough one there. Live by the sword die by it

Don't beat yourself up, Rodgers didn't cost you the game. Nobody not even Doudle D, had any idea that Rodgers would blow this up quite like this. Kitna is tough call to have to make on a Saturday, when your not 100% on your other option. I had to make the same type of call playing J. Stewart on Thursday, in a bad matchup, because I couldn't be left witha zero if MJD didn't play. Kitna coming out has got to be like Rodgers getting injured earlier and you survived that; you did this by having a good team. I'm sure all the guys in your league, who are already out of it, are super smart at picking lineups after the fact; they should come to this thread and show how smart they are - everyone else does.

Classic over-thinking. Looks like you spend too much time here lol

You cant use that as a reason to start a QB against the Giants D. At halftime Vick had 0 points. If not for turnovers and bad coaching Vick wouldnt have come close to doing what he did. The Giants have had one of the best, if not the best defenses against the pass this year, not to mention knocked 6 QB's out of the game. The Giants are probably the one defense i would consider sitting Rodgers against, although i would never consider sitting rodgers when he is starting.

Didn't help having AJ out. I just say its hard to argue against a QB who has been a top 4 qb in my league from week 10-15. I still have a chance but its one heck of a long shot being down by 16 and having Turner/Matt Bryant vs Lance Moore/John Abraham. I'd submit the same lineup if i had to do it again. If Kitna plays the entire game I see him getting 2 more TDs. With the way the Giants have been beating up QBs I would have thought Rodgers would be the one to get hurt, not Kitna. Guess maybe I need to spend more time in the shark pool. I've only been stopping by to see player status before games start.
