Ron Dayne to start? (1 Viewer)

(on the starting running back for Sunday) “I’ll start Wali (Lundy) or Ronnie, but chances are it’s going to be Ronnie with the direction we’re going. They’re going to all play, but what you’re going to see is Ronnie and Samkon’s role get bigger and bigger as the weeks go on and on.”

(on RB Ron Dayne) “He’s a big physical player who’s always fallen forward. You watch the Indy game, I thought Ronnie was still a little rusty from the Ronnie I know, but you got to remember that he really didn’t have a preseason. I thought he got better as the game went on. I just think he kind of fits the mold. Right now we need somebody to pound the ball for three to four yards and we need to get some third down and threes because on third down and long, we’re not very productive right now. I think he’ll keep our offense on schedule.”

Righetti's favorite topic, and apologize for starting a new one, but valuable new information here hot off the wire...

You don't understand the power of the dark side!

Kubiak has learned his lessons from Darth Shanahan well. You will see flavor of the week RB ...

Something's just a bit off in this whole thing. Is it possible Houston is trying to showcase ( ) Dayne hoping to get someone to bite & give them a pick for him? I didn't watch Houston last week, but it looks like Dayne showed the worst of the three (ypc-wise anyway). Or is Kubiak just trying to show he was "right" in bringing Dayne over from Denver?

I don't know, but Lundy is looking more and more expendable. So much for being my saving grace sleeper at RB3 :)

I read it as Kubiak going with the veteran RB that he is most familiar with. Dayne had some sucess with Denver and that likely is enough for the rookie Head Coach.

No.You don't pick up another team's scraps and then try to trade him.
It happens every weekend at garage sales and flea markets. Something about shining a turd comes to mind.

Drafted Lundy and Morrency late in my draft. Thought I was brilliant. 2 weeks later, and both have been purged from my roster. I am a free man..

Uhh, no actually, that's not possible.

If Dayne does start this weekend, I really don't know what would be so surprising about that. No team wants to go 0-3, and while I personally think such a move smacks of desparation, its not outside the realm of possibility or believability that Kubiak feels Dayne is the most familar with his system and gives the Texans the best chance to win.

The only thing I find unbelievable is that so many fantasy owners continue to believe that there is fantasy gold to be mined here.

The NFL is not a garage sale, it's not a flea market, and it's not fantasy football. It's never happened. Ever.

Michael Bennett?
That was fluky since the Saints no longer needed Bennett because of an unexpected turn in the draft, and the Chiefs suddenly needed a backup with Holmes going out. And I'd also say Bennett > Dayne.

You would be giving Houston's managment alot more credit for foresight than most of we Texans' fans do.

Olandis Gary down?Buffalo picked him up off the street after Denver let him go, and then traded him to Detroit. Here's the link.

That's the problem with never. It's a really long time.

Maybe so. I guess I just don't see the logic. But as you say, ineptitude trumps logic. You'd think that, as a Baltimore Orioles fan, I would have realized that :bag:

Really, once the regular season started Lundy has not looked very good and Kubiak was never a huge Morency fan. At RB, I believe they are now just trying to get through the year with Dayne and Gado in some way getting most of the carries.

Am I the only one who things Gado will end up being "the man" and will have a decent amount of fantasy value? I know that Kubiak is a committe guy, but he was gushing over Gado when they acquired him and he did well the first week he played on only 3 carries. Everyone has to remember that the Texan running game can dish out plenty of fantasy points from when Dom. Davis was "the man" there.

I agree, but then again you and I both have "S. Gado" in our sigs. :excited:

No question about it! And it will start this week.

Bloom's sleeper of the week on the Audible (recorded Wed night before this news broke).

Those of you that own LT, LJ, JJones, LJordan may have a viable flex (or even RB2) if you own Dayne this week.

Dayne is a slug. He will put up a decent game here or there, but he's not a starting NFL RB. Never was - never will be. The Nigerian Nightmare will be the starter, and take at least 75% of the touches, by week 6 or prior. Mark it down.

Quick- what do Ron Dayne and Kmart have in common? They both suck. It doesn't take a Rain Man to figure that out. Gado will be the guy.Just saw Ahman Green may be hurt... think GB regrets letting Gado go?

Dayne does suck but I don't know if Gado is the answer

No, because they obviously liked Morency better.

I've been the biggest Dayne apologist for YEARS, thinking finally the Denver system would unleash his awesome talent. wrong. I'm convinced now; if you can't make it in Denver I'm not sure you can make it anywhere else. He'll probably go off Sunday just to spite me.

FYI, as a blind auction free agent, Dayne got picked up for $355 out of $1000 today, with the runner up bid in the 300's also, so somebody must dig his chances.
