I'm thinking of looking at him for a keeper in '08. Will he rebound healthy for next season ? What's the rehab time for his injury?

I am going to have him on my watch list. Of course it is still too early for an 08 return timeframe. IMO he might be able to play for the start of the 08 season, but I wouldn't expect huge games till the midway point.

Probably a very good buy low guy right now.

i think the training camp timeline would be the true indicator as it's way too early right now. a local source down here said that he's currently in the locker room hanging about with the team after all the games. he's off crutches but has a noticeable and expected limp.

If I'm remembering correctly, I thought these types of injuries were always a MINIMUM of 1 year...even with the intensive rehabbing. Seemed like Edgerin James and Javon Walker both took at least that long. I can't think of any other examples off the top of my head for recent examples, but I'm sure there are others.

So, yeah, he may hold some good value next year, but I wouldn't expect anything substantial until mid season or later. Plan accordingly in your draft.

Historically, they always seem to have one mediocre year before coming back fully from this type of injury

Yep. He's not a good buy-low right now. But he'll be an excellent buy-low a year from now.

Rotoworld:

Ronnie Brown says that he is ahead of his rehabilitation schedule and should start running next month.

Despite playing fewer than seven games, Brown is still the Dolphins' leading rusher with 602 yards. He looked like one of the best backs in the NFL before tearing his ACL, so it's unlikely that the team would look to anyone else to start so long as his rehabilitation continues to proceed on a favorable schedule.

It would depend on what draft pick you need to give up for him. Brown coming off he injury and playing for a sorry Dolphin franchise would not warrent a very high pick. I'd project him as a 4th-5th rounder ATM.

The same sorry Dolphin franchise who has nowhere to go but up, and that Brown produced fantastically in?He's an incredible buy-low for next year if he comes back from his injury.

:minihijack: but related... maybe as a handcuff play.

What do you guys think about J. Chatman's chances to keep the job at least through the beginning of the season. Minor didn't seem to get much of a chance. He's on the WW in one of my leagues and I opted for UFA TJDuckett as a pick up, but considered JC as a early season play in 08.

Given the addition of Big Tuna it is hard to predict what the Finns will do, but I think that Brown will be the featured guy again and if Cam has any say and is still around then I think Chatman is the fill-in RB along with Ricky W. I don't see them getting any of the FA Rbs or spending a high pick on a Rb. While it is true that most RBs take 18 months to fully recover, the surgery techniques keep improving and Brown apparently is ahead of the normal recovery at this point. I think he will be worth owning next year but as far as keepers it depends upon who else you could keep.

The good news is that an ACl is not a career threatening injury and lots of guys have recovered without any loss in their game.

I think Ronnie will be fine and gradually improve througout the year. Right now he's a 3rd rounder IMO. If you can lock up a stud RB in round 1, a stud WR round 2, and Ronnie as your #2RB in round 3 he would be good value especially if you can lock up whoever would be the starting MIA RB come opening day if it's a RBBC until 100% health.
