The analysis around the web on rookie rankings for PPR seems light. At the crux of the issue is CJ Spiller. I am basically torn between Sigmund Bloom's praise of CJ Spiller's playmaking and receiving skills and Matt Waldman's reservations about his running style.
Which two backs would you choose for your team from among Mathews, Best and Spiller in a PPR format? A few points to consider:
1) If Spiller is merely a slightly less effective runner than Mathews, does that make him the pick to click for PPR purposes? In a PPR league, Reggie Bush was the #10 RB in his first and second years. Looking at Maurile Tremblay's redraft projections, Spiller is the #20 RB in standard but #11 in PPR, and he could get more than 47 catches.
2) Can Mathews really catch 40 balls like Norv Turner says? With Darren Sproles and Shawnbrey McNeal lurking in the background?
3) Since Best is both a quality runner AND a quality receiver, does this make him the best prospect?
