Roy Williams offically traded to Dallas (1 Viewer)

Every time I turn on Dallas I see two playmakers, Witten and Miles Austin. Sure T.O. and Barber get theirs when spoon feed, and Jones is exciting, but for moving the chains in crunch time on third down these are the guys. I think this move upsets Owens and stunts the development of an interesting young player. Bad, bad move.

I can't wait to hear the #####ing from TO and RW about not each getting 15 targets per game.

Romo's head is going to explode

ESPN SAID TWO #2 THIS YEAR AND NEXT tHEY JUST GOT A 5TH AND 6TH FROM tENN BECAUSE OF THE pACMAN SUSPENSION YES.Just have to hal on for the next 3 weeks and get Newman and Romo back then it is on

I own T.O. and Calvin and i'm much more worried about the impact on Megatron than T.O. T.O. should be released and set free now, but Calvin will face massive coverage.Excellent chance the Lions go winless.
in most cases, less competition = more opportunity = more fantasy points... as a calvin owner, you should be ecstatic

Just saw on ESPN NFL ticker. Wow. That's a lot.

The Detroit Lions have traded wide receiver Roy Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the trade was made today, just before the NFL trade deadline.

It is not clear exactly what compensation the Lions got from the Cowboys, but Schefter reported that Detroit received “at least one first-round pick.”

Williams, who played his high school football for the Permian Panthers and his college football for the Texas Longhorns, will return to his home state. He becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
WDFN reporting trade is a 1st, 3rd, 6th from DAL for Roy Williams and a 7th from DET.

The stink of panic is entering my nostrils.
Considering they have been rying to get this guy sense April this is not a move of desperation. That would have been if they tried to get a QB. This is a good day for Dallas lose Pacamn who they really do not need and get the wr they need very bad. Lets see that triple on Owens now mother f'er
How can losing Pac Man possibly be good for the Cowboys? They're without their best corner in Terence Newman, and by all accounts Pac Man was doing a very good job in coverage. Furthermore, they just lost Felix Jones for a while, meaning they went from having two quality return threats to having none in a matter of days.I'll buy that you're excited about the offense (although I think this move is bad news for several reasons). But I can't buy that losing Pac Man helps the Cowboys.

3 picks for a guy who was gone after next year anyway and drops 5 balls a game? This is what Detroit without Millen is going to be like? I must be dreaming!
 that was funny, but even funnier when I stare at the picture of Dwight in your avatar.

Shefter just stated it was a 1st 3rd and 6th
If this is correct, Jerry Jones is well on his way to becoming the George Steinbrenner of the NFL. Considering that the "mortgage the future to acquire marquee superstars" model didn't work in MLB, I can't imagine this will end well for the Cowboys in a league with a salary cap.If you want to trade a 1, 3 and 6, why not get a quality corner to replace the giant void left by Pac-Man and Terence Newman?
 Cowboys still have zero chance of winning the superbowl this year.

As a Calvin owner, this is super news. He won't have to share any garbage time production with Roy anymore. Calvin will be the undisputed king of GTP the rest of the way. And the best part of all this? GTP will start in the 2nd quarter now.

I think Roy coming to Dallas actually increases Witten's value, if that is even possible. With Roy and TO on opposite sides, it's going to be even harder to scheme for Witten.

In fact, I think Johnson isn't the worst thing for Witten either. When it comes time to dink and dunk and look for that security blanket over the middle, it should be Witten he looks to first.

Who is the pickup in Detroit?
 WR: Calvin Johnson (inj), Roy Williams, Shaun McDonald (PR), Mike Furrey, Brandon Middleton (KR), Reggie Ball (IR)MIke Furrey or Shaun McDonald?
I remembered reading earlier this season that McDonald was the de facto WR3 on the team but that if either starter went down with injury it'd be Furrey that would stand to gain the most as they'd prefer to keep McDonald in that WR3/slot position. I'll see if I can find it.
I remember reading the same thing. I think Furrey is the guy to target here if you want the WR2 in Detroit.

Does anyone know who got this story right?

Is it a 2009 2nd rounder + a 2010 2nd rounder as Werder and ESPN have reported

OR

Is it a 1st, 3rd and 6th rounder as reported by NFLN and Schefter 9and apparently the Dallas News)?

Roy Williams' Schedule (with 2 Bye Weeks)

Code:
NFL WK OPPDET 01 at ATLDET 02 vs GBPDET 03 at SFODET 04 -- BYEDET 05 vs CHIDET 06 at MIN-----------------DAL 07 at STLDAL 08 vs TBDAL 09 at NYGDAL 10 -- BYEDAL 11 at WASDAL 12 vs SFODAL 13 vs SEADAL 14 at PITDAL 15 vs NYGDAL 16 vs BALDAL 17 at PHI
This hurts me. As an Owens and Witten owner, I really don't like having 3 players for the same team from the WR/TE position. Roy was a 3/4th WR for me anyway... Week 10 is going to suck now.

TO won't play forever- nice pickup by Dallas, even if they did give up a lot. Williams value just skyrocketed in dynasty, I would think.

Problem is you're not wearing a pair of theseIt's really the only way anything MustangMen says makes sense.

i hate pacmanbut the cowboys need him right now, so losing him hurts

long term, screw him move on

As for Rioy, the cowboys did need a WR, they have no deph, TO is an aging flake, and this will help. They may, however, have really overpaid.

Does anyone know for sure that he was traded for a 1st, 3rd and 6th? Other posters in the other threads have indicated that Ed Werder reports that Dallas did not trade a 1st rounder and that the trade was for a 2009 2nd and a 2010 2nd.

Didn't hear he was traded in the other Roy Williams thread.
<3 the board police here. Don't whine or report all the random AC posts that pop up, no whine about something actually relevant happening in the NFL. Also title / OP of other thread has yet to be changed to confirm this.

Ed Werder's saying it's a 2009 2nd rounder and 2010 2nd rounder.

Just saw on ESPN. Wow. That's a lot.
Waaaayyy toooo muchThey already have a 2 WR that knows how to drop passes.
Isn’t Roy a free agent next year? If so, that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
He's said he wants to play in Texas, so signing him won't be an issue.
There is another team is Texas and if he wants to play for the ‘Boys they could have probably gotten him in the off-season for a cheaper price tag . Either way, I’m not trading a 1st or two 2nd’s for a player that is not signed for a few years. That is quite an investment for a player that is going to be a free agent.

for all those r'tards that called the Skins stupid for trading Champ when we knew he wasn't going to resign...well the Lions just did the same thing. Brilliant move. And I think both Washington and Detroit CLEARLY got the better side of each trade.

For one, I'm not "whining" about anything. Second, if you looked in the other thread, you would of seen that he was traded and didnt' need to start another thread. HTH
