DISCLAIMER: I've never heard of this guy, but ran across this information he's tweeting this AM:

--According to a source, Brandon Jacobs will meet with Giants management today and ask to be traded. Might not be a bad idea for both sides.

Maybe some here know of Vinny and if he's reputable.

Jacobs isn't as valuable as he thinks he is... If he would run right at the line and power it in for 2 yards or whatever he could get he'd have a purpose. Him running around behind the line looking for a hole to "dart" through is comical.

Info is info use it if you like, makes sense to me and I'll be looking out for these talks.

Maybe its some dude in the front offices cuz Vinny, and he just has info, lol

Why would the Giants trade him (outside the obvious distraction he could become). He is a very good 1/2 of a RBBC and Bradshaw has not proven durable in the past. I doubt they have the confidence in Ware to warrant making a move at this point, regardless of what he wants.

Ralph Vacchiano, NYG beat writer tweeted, in response to the Jacobs trade info:

--Is Jacobs tradeable? He's in 2nd year of 4-year, $25M contract that included $13 million guaranteed. He's making $3.65M this season.

--... and is due $4.65M in salary in '11 and $4.9M in '12. ... And his last 100-yard game was Nov. 9, 2008 -- none in last 21 games.

And Vick hasn't started a game in years....that highlighted stat means nothing....

Thats pretty much what i was going to say. Hes got a better chance of being released at the end of the year than the Giants finding someone willing to give up something for him.

Jacobs has been playing the whole time and failing the whole time. If you have eyes and watch them play you can see that he is garbage. I mean seriously, do you think Jacobs has value to trade? I sure hope you don't.

Report: Brandon Jacobs will ask for trade

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 20, 2010 10:07 AM ET

Will Brandon Jacobs' east-west run and subsequent helmet toss/benching be his final act as a New York Giant?

That's what Jacobs hopes, according to a report from Vinny DiTrani, longtime writer of the Bergen Record that just can't stop covering Big Blue. DiTrani reports that Jacobs will meet with Giants management Monday and request a trade.

Good luck with that. Perhaps a divorce is best for both sides, but there is no team that would remotely be interested in Jacobs considering his salary and attitude. He's toxic. Oh, and he hasn't been particularly effective since the start of 2009.

The Giants gave Jacobs $13 million guaranteed before 2009 and surely regret it now. He no longer produces and seems to take his frustration out on others. There's next to no chance he'll be back in New York at $4.65 million next year, so the only question is whether the Giants keep him for the rest of this year.

Considering the money they have already paid Jacobs, we'd think they'd try to calm Jacobs down and get something out of him. They are getting used to that.

Who is going to trade for this headcase? No one, that's who.
He's a headcase because he is mad about losing his starting job? Cmon. Even so, the NFL is littered with HCs that think they are the special coach that can make headcases good teammates.
Dude, he threw his helmet at the fans. Add that to the fact that he''s not very good. And scheduled to make big money. Why on earth would any team want that?

His ONLY strength was his size and beast running. Remember when he trucked Laron Landry I think it was in the Giants Redskins game? That was a LONG time ago.

Now, Jacobs dances and runs sideways instead of straight ahead. On top of that he has been melting down for a few weeks now. He is irrelevant to fantasy and most likely football teams too.

Except Jacobs has still been in the league and running the ball.Vick was in the pokey.

Vick starting and Jacobs lack of production are not related whatsoever.

I remember reading a story about him and a coffee barista across from Giants stadium. If I remember right he went in and bought coffee then through an absolute fit because the girl didn't know who he was. That was shortly before he signed his big deal. It is amazing that someone could have an ego that couldn't fit into that enormous skull.

per Mike Garafolo, beat writer for the Star-Ledger:

Hang on right now on the Brandon Jacobs trade demands. Getting info right now that we're not quite there yet. Stay tuned.

Skins will send them Fat Albert for Jacobs and a mid pick. Both sides can handle it because their contracts were ludicrous.

I'd love to see how Coughlin would deal with Albert too.

Doesn't Shanny like cheap, replaceable, disposable running backs?

What this tells me is that Bradshaw is firmly entrenched at RB1 for NYG...and "his best friend, whose family hangs out with his" isn't handling it very well.

Jacobs deserved what he got last night. That run he tried to make right before he was pulled was terrible. This guy thinks he can run sideways and turn the corner. Please. He is SLOW.

Then to act like a complete jerk with his helmet. I hope he gets suspended a game because that was totally uncalled for.

By the way, he is NOT 1/2 of the RBBC. He is about 10%.

You know what? I'm going to defend Jacobs. Putting the attitude aside I think NYG seriously effed up. They threw millions of dollars at him only to demote him. He played injured last year - not his fault. This year he came back healthy. Then they put him behind that piece of garbage offensive line (did you see how many times Eli got hit last night?) and expect him to produce?

The NYG is an average team with a bad offensive line. And now Jacobs is taking the fall for it. The only reason Bradshaw has success is that he is able to dance and make defenders miss. But I have watched both NYG games this year. Some series Bradshaw gets stuffed due to offensive line collapse. Some series he has a nice gain. Bradshaw gives you 1 yrd gain, 0 yrd gain, then follow up with a 10 yrd gain. I think his stats are muddled and inconclusive.

Jacobs' attitude, and I DO NOT AGREE WITH HOW HE IS HANDLING THIS, is still the result of bad decisions by the NYG. I think Jacobs is purposely acting this way so that he can be traded. It's clear that he wants out. In the right situation, he's still a 6'4 260 lb north/south runner who can produce.

I'm sorry you have Jacobs on your team and still need him to produce. But, the problem with Jacobs is that he is a 1, 0, -3, 4, 2 yard type of guy without the big pops. He is most definitely not a north/south guy anymore. He looks afraid.

I don't see the Giants being willing to trade him now.
They should be willing since he sucks. Who would want him though? He is worthless as far as helping block the DE attacking Mannings blindside, as is Bradshaw. They need a RB that can assist in pass blocking so Manning can survive the season. Everyone is going to come at him now that they saw Indy do it.

It landed 10 rows back. That's a hell of a throw, the type where you should be suspended just for being a moron.

in his defense, the bench ran a very pour route.

He's a rather strong man

Less than 5M per year isn't big money.
NFL RB Salaries - 2009This years data isn't available yet, but last year his $3.5M base was 7th in the league. Pretty sure LT2 and Westy are playing for considerably less this year, so he's probably around 5th this year. When four other players at your position make more money, you don't consider that big money?

Admittedly its not Darren Sproles $7.2M big money, but there are only two RBs (SJax is the other) making over $5M.

Big money is a relative thing.

I have no basis for this, but I would be very surprised if he's not suspended for at least a game for the helmet throwing incident. If the NFL doesn't, I bet Coughlin will.

Curious about the helmet being taken from the fan. Hope that he got something from someone. Noticed that either security or the Giants equipment staff took the helmet from the guy. Seems like if you almost got nailed with a heavy object flung by a player that the player should lose the helmet and be forced to pay for it himself.

I don't know how the NFL can't with it being a national TV game, and it being an incident that NBC extensively covered.

Why exactly would they have to? How does it hurt the NFL in any way to let the Giants deal with it? I don't see the need. The NFL will probably still do something because that's what they do.

wellan angry player threw a large heavy object into a group of fans of the other team and then got in a screaming match with themseems to me you hurl something at the fans that could injure them, it is an NFL issue

how much of the gurantee is future money?

If we're talking about Goddell saying "Okay, if you give him a game, we won't give him two" yes I agree with you. But there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the image-conscious NFL will give him something when you have millions of people repeatedly see that a player chucked his helmet at fans. Doesn't matter if it's right or wrong for them to do it, but they will.

Typically teams wait for word from the league office on these matters as a courtesy, but I agree that they'll be proactive on this one if the NFL isn't direct in its intentions.

I don't consider it big money. There isn't a salary cap this year. We don't even know if there will ever be one again, and if there was how much it will be.

Did someone get a HELL of a souvenir for free, then?ETA: Nevermind...I saw above that it was taken from the fan. That is messed up. In baseball, balls and even BATS fly into the stands, and the fans get to keep those...
