Rumor: Chad Johnson and #1 pick for Torry Holt and #1 pick? (1 Viewer)

"Hey,

1530 here in Cincy was reporting last night that there is a trade in the works that would send Chad Johnson and the Bengals first pick to the Rams for Torry Holt and the Rams first pick. Has this been reported on Rotoworld yet?

I think it would be a great trade for the Bengals. Holt is still a top 5 WR and we could draft Dorsey, Gholston or C.Long with the pick. What do you think? "

Sounds like some wishful thinking by a delirious Bengals fan. No way the Rams lose Isaac Bruce and then give away Torry Holt a few weeks later, and move down 7 spots in the draft to do it. Holt is a bonafide HOF candidate and Rams lifer and pretty much the face of that team right now. Doesnt make any sense.

interesting trade. If the Bengals feel Johnson is becoming too much of a distraction then they should make this trade if its true.

I would move down 7 spots in the draft to trade Holt and his knee for Chad Johnson in a New York Minute. The guy said he heard in it on a Cincy radio station, so I doubt if it's "wishful thinking" on his part. It might be wishful thinking on the part of the person who reported it however.

I like the trade for the Rams - Holt is old and gimpy where CJ is in his prime - plus moving a few spots down is not that bad considering the $$$$ savings in contract

No way it happens though.

For everyone who keeps saying that there is no way the Rams trade Holt, remember that Holt was in the coach's face last season screaming at him on the sideline saying it was all Linehan's fault they were losing. Linehan has some blame here but when the Rams only have 2 numbers left in the O-Lineman range because they hired so many guys off the street to fill in for injuries, it's pretty hard to win games. I think the strength and conditioning coach and the Line coach should be taken out back and shot. And if we have as many injuries this year I will do the shooting myself.

Holt and the Coach made all nice later in the week but don't for a second think that Linehan hasn't forgotten about it.

Its wishful thinking on the part of someone. I dont really care who it is. Its not about who's younger or who's knees are better. The Rams simply cannot lose Ike Bruce and Torry Holt in the same offseason. Johnson has done nothing but embarrass that organization this offseason with the way he's tried to force the organization to trade him. Id expect there are plenty of people around Cinci that would like to see that guy moved right now.

I'm one of them.. I'm tired of his antics.

It was an unfortunate season in many ways for the Rams. But Holt has been a sterling leader and representative of this team for a decade. They'd never move the guy just because he got in the face of a coach, and swap him out for a player who's thrown his entire organization under the bus.

Not happening because the premise of the trade is that CJ is more valuable than Holt when in reality it is the opposite. This is coming from the Bengal side because they know what a POS CJ is.

I can see that. Also, I still say that Holt is not some sort of untradeable icon. He's had injury issues, got in the coaches face, is getting up there in age. I could see it happening...Remember this is the second such rumor of Holt heading out of town. The other was to the Eagles. These rumors are coming from somewhere and may not just be from a talk show hosts wishful thinking...

Its the combination of the 3 elements here:1) moving the star player Holt, which will be hard enough to do as it is. 2) moving down 7 spots in a draft and out of a guaranteed stud in either Jake or Chris Long, among others.3) adding a highly disgruntled player who's done his current organization a huge disservice with his current behavior, who btw, is only a year and a half younger than Holt himself. I dont think Holt is entirely untradeable. I dont really see them doing it to him, but its not going to go down like this.

I agree with everything here. Moving back 7 slots is not a good move unless there was maybe a 2nd thrown in from Cinci or something like that. Trading for a head case is not a good idea either. But Holt is tradeable.

People are missing the reason Chad is such a ball buster now too. It's not becuase he's under utilized. It's not being called the bad guy by coaching or Palmer. He certainly didn't want to go to the Redskins because Campbell would improve his career.

Chad wants a new deal because his 2006 deal for 35 mil now looks damn cheap when put beside Berrian, Moss, Walker. Chad won't shut up just because he gets to another team, that team is going to have to re-do his deal and give him Moss/Walker money because if they don't he just becomes their cancer instead of Cinci's. Unless the rams are prepared to ramp up his contract big time it's DOA.

I would do this in a second as a rams fan. CJ would definetly charge up a very boring town for football. CJ is in his prime and if he played every game in a dome I would think would have great success for another 5-7 years. The rams are just boring now days and need to make a huge impact somewhere. I think CJ would offer that. Holt maybe has another 3 years at most of being above avg to elite status. I also agree with the fanatic in an earlier thread. Don't think for one second that Linnehan has forgotten Holt getting in his face last year during the game.

CJ is only a year and a half younger than Holt so I don't get your reasoning. But you are right CJ will liven things up and make you forget about football. You will just be waiting to see what he will do next to get a 15 yard penalty. CJ born 1/9/1978 Holt born 6/5/1976

As a Bengals fan I would take Holt with a bad wheel over the cancerous Chad Johnson any day. The higher pick would be major for Cincy as the guys they are hoping to draft will be long gone by #9.

The biggest hurdle is eating part of Ocho Stinko's salary. I can't see this happening.
