RUMOR, Cowboys eyeing Ryan Williams (1 Viewer)

BigTex

Don't mess with Texas
Just what I heard. They hope Aaron Williams falls but if not they love Ryan Williams. The word is they have some concerns at the running back position and one way or another it will be addressed in this draft.

Tex

I was expecting throughout round one to see Dallas move back at 1st, but when they didn't, I expected them to move back into the 1st rd for Ingram. Doesnt surprise me at all if they have a crush on yet another back.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram suggests Illinois RB Mike Leshoure and Texas CB Aaron Williams as two players to "keep an eye on" for the Cowboys in the second round.

Beat writer Clarence Hill isn't citing inside information, so we'd take this as a prediction as opposed to a report. The drafting of Leshoure would signal the end of the line for Marion Barber in Dallas.
I guess RB really is on their radar.

If this was coming from anyone besides BigTex, I'd laugh it off. But I can't. BigTex knows too many folks in the know.

Yes, they want to replace Barber. But there are plenty of guys in the 6th roudn who can do that just fine.

Aaron Williams is 31 on Goose's Top 100. He'd be the pick if he makes it to 40, which is not likely. Of the guys who visited Valley Ranch, Kendrick Ellis who was 45 on Goose's board, seems the highest ranked guy who'd likely be available at 40.

I'll be more ticked off if we take a RB at 40 than I'd be if we took Rahim Moore. And I think Moore will be a waste of a pick.

Updating my notebook. Big Tex was the same guy that predicted to the week julius jones' monster tear his rookie season?

I really hope this is Jerry blowing smoke just like they did in the 1st round. Taking a RB here just flat out does not make sense.

I mean isn't Murray a poor mans Felix Jones? Or... a rich man's Felix Jones?

We all expected Barber to go, are we now back to a freaking 3-man committee? I feel like a dumb ### thinking this was finally the year a Dallas RB would break out into fantasy stardom.

In one dynasty league I own Pierre Thomas, Best, and Felix. I couldn't give them away at this point.

Pierre thomas is toast but I think people are overreacting to the Best situation and I really see Murry as so similar to Felix that its a real life move to have a consistent playbook through all downs regardless of personnel on the field and not an indication to unseat Felix.

Murray is a terrible RB. He won't beat out either Jones or Choice.

Frankly I don't see him lasting more than a couple years at RB in the NFL. He has zero lateral movement.

I've stop posting things about the Cowboys cause it got me in trouble in the past, lol.

After the Cards took Williams the Boys went in a different direction with the 2nd and was shocked that Murray was still there in the 3rd were they were going to draft the best back available.

Murray will be the back to have on the Cowboys.

Stephen Jones made it very clear that they felt it was time to shake things up bc they had "gotte a lot of mileage out of their three backs." He said Murray will spell Felix and they have some decisions to make beyond that. He also said specifically that no back is going to be asked to run the ball 20 times a game.

There are some very strong concerns about their backfield! Seriously! Eventhough they really wanted Williams in the 2nd they feel Murray in the 3rd is accepted as well. They want a real bellcow and I'm not saying the Murray is that bellcow but he's going to get that chance.

Why is this? Souring on Felix?

Saying he's going to spell Felix is the right thing to say, now they still like Felix but ALL of those backs are.on a short leash. They were not happy with Felix as well which is why Felix is trying to slim down to a lighter weight. They wanted Williams in the 2nd for a reason. If the Felix of 2009 doesn't show up this year and Murray pick up the scheme there's going to be some disappointed people!Either way I can't wait.Tex

@gianmarco

No not entirely. ONLY IMHO, their faith in all the other backs is zero. Felix is getting his chance THIS season. Jerry is faithful to his players but he was completely embarrassed by certain players last year. If Murray could push Felix to be that 2009 Felix then they'll be happy but Murray will get he's too.

If Murray outperforms Felix they'll be happy with that as well. I didn't make my comment clear enough in that post.

The guys that are saying Murray is no threat to the backfield are mistaken! He's a threat, he will be #2 at WORST. He's going to get his chance.

Now if you just think Murray is garbage then that's another argument.
