Run in with a Walgreens Mgr over some Swedish Fish (1 Viewer)

I have mixed and matched at my Walgreens, and I usually get the discount, but I certainly wouldn't fight with somebody over a couple of bucks.

As far as the signs being misplaced, it happens all the time. That's why you have to read them. I don't see what the big deal is. You get to the register, they tell you to get another one, you go get it. It's certainly not worth getting upset about. Humanity is imperfect. People working at a store making almost no money to do a job which is miserable in the first place because they have to deal with the public have enough problems without people yelling at them over a couple of bucks.
Do you think if they were paid more they would work better/harder? I can tell you from my experiences with hourly wage earners that this is not the case, not even close so don't feel too bad for them, most feel they are doing the stores a favor by showing up to work in the 1st place.
Jesus, what a repellent post. Purely vile.

Many, many years ago I got mad over something really stupid at a checkout line and scared the poor young girl staffing it enough that she called her manager in tears. It's one of my lowest moments and I doubt I'll ever stop feeling bad about it.

You're a piece of work.
So it was fine when you did it, talk about projecting, holy ####!!!

He's worse, he took it out on the poor clerk, I aim all my heavy missiles at management and on up the ladder.

Here is the deal...I got sick this week with bronchitis, went to the doctor, he put me on antibiotics and a couple other things, drop my prescriptions off around 9:00PM, come back about 11:00 later that night to pick them up. My wife was starting to catch what I had and she of course asked me to pick up some little boxed candy so we could curl up when I got home and watch a movie. She likes the swedish fish and also gummy bears. I grab 2 boxes of the swedish fish, 1 bag of gummy bears, they all are clearly marked 3/$4 and I take them over to the cashier at the pharmacy so I can pick up my drugs and get home. Nice gal behind the counter rings up the candy, Rx are free with insurance, total was about $6. I said I think the candy is 3/$4...she says let me get a mgr to do a price check. We wait...she calls him again and this little man waddles to the back and I just politely tell him the candy is always marked 3/$4 and it's ringing up wrong. He says "let me take a look 1st and see what they really cost." As if I was lying to him. And honestly I was already starting to get irritable now. He can clearly see me standing there white as a ghost, nose running, just want to grab this stuff and get the hell out of there. So he asks if I can walk with him to where I found the candy. So I actually do walk him over there and show him. He then says "Well they are not exact matches even though they are 3/$4." Meaning he is now saying that I am mixing and matching. I said well you knew that before you made me walk with you halfway across the store. So we start exchanging unpleasantries back to the Pharmacy counter. He says he "really doesn't feel like he should give me the discount but that he will make an exception" as we got back to the counter and that was it for me. I told the pretty lady behind the counter, "just charge me full freight!" This guy has had plenty of time to right this situation and since he keeps telling me that corporate doesn't like this and that, maybe I'll just call corporate tomorrow and find out what the rules are myself. You have made me feel like a liar, thief, and you don't know the 1st thing about customer service. He tried to have the clerk take the discount off, I said we are way past that point. I told the lady to charge me full price which she did and ran my card before he could come over to the register. He knew he messed up big time at this point. I asked him to flip his name over on his badge so I could read it and he started to walk away. No matter I got his name form the pharmacist tech and oh did I have a song to sing walking out of that store from the back of pharmacy to the front door and the drunk homeless people littered about the front door you had to step over to get in the front door. This has happened a lot lately it seems when I go to stores. Not the run in with the manager but a lot of mis-priced items that if you are not careful when you check out, you end up paying more than what the signs say. I went to buy some bottled water at the grocery store the other night and the sign clearly said 10/$10 on Evian water, bring it up and it rings $2.49 a piece. Bag boy runs to the sign, brings it back, says it is for Dasani...I said was it hanging under the Evian water? He says yes but the stock boy misplaced the sign. I don't fuss with kids in retail, I just left but it's annoying beyond all. I feel like a thief every time when i just want to pay the bill. Now I do not have this issue at Costco but that place is a pain to run in and just grab 3 or 4 things. I really want to call corporate and roast this guy but what is it gonna solve? He might get a slap on the wrist but he marches on.
Jeez thanks. I was just about to come online and tell everyone how I got into a fight with the manager at McDonalds because they charged me 5c extra for extra pickles even though I told them to hold the onions. I told him I'm giving up something so I want a credit. He told me no. I said you can't treat me as a valued customer that way. Well, as you'd expect, it escalated from there. I'm not outside McDonalds' corporate HQs with my protest sign.THANKS FOR STEALING MY THUNDER.......

MOP, you hate hourly workers so much...refresh our notebooks. What do you do and how much do you make?

I'll bet things would be run better there if you were on staff.
:lmao:
:lmao: JFC
I venture to guess a lot of you live in areas where white people are still the majority in the area...I think it has a big impact on what I have to put up with vs what some of you in the more rural parts of the country ever have to experience. I've been to the MidWest and there are sections where you can go a month and not see anything but basically caucasians. I can go several days around here in Miami and not see another caucasian. You might not think it matters but it wears thin...
Add "racist" to the list of reasons MoPe is a POS.
:goodposting: Dying over here.

He's a cashier at a Rite Aid, he makes 9.50 an hour and hates his Hispanic manager

This is what I keep picturing...

MOP: Excuse me? Excuse me, senor? May I speak to you please? I asked for a mai tai, and they brought me a pina colada, and I said no salt, NO salt for the margarita, but it had salt on it, big grains of salt, floating in the glass...

Mexican Waiter: Lo siento mucho, senor.

[under his breath]

Mexican Waiter: Pinche gringo.

MOP: [as the waiter walks away] And yes, I won't be leaving a tip, 'cause I could... I could shut this whole resort down. Sir? I'll take my traveler's checks to a competing resort. I could write a letter to your board of tourism and I could have this place condemned. I could put... I could put... strychnine in the guacamole. There was salt on the glass, BIG grains of salt.

MOP, your first mistake was you didn't buy Sour Patch Kids instead. Any clerk will know that you do not deserve a discount for picking the wrong candy.

I took a bus last week and the driver said I did not have to pay the two dollar fare. MOP, should I have forced him to take my money?

MoP seems like the guy that says/does what other people want to do, but they're too constrained by things like decency to follow through on. I'd bet he's a hero in his little corner of the world where he makes sure this aggression will not stand.
I know we all cut up in here and I have been a very polarizing poster for many. I think in the beginning most enjoyed my football postings but then I came in here and started to open up about my life...likely a mistake but in many ways it was therapeutic. I definitely speak my mind, not a single person who knows me for more than 60 seconds in real life will say anything different. I speak what is on my mind even if the other person doesn't really want to hear it. Guess that makes me a bad guy.
I'd be really surprised if anybody in real life knows you for more than 60 seconds

MoP...I've been considering creating a website and subsequent app and I think you'd be my target market.

It's called "WhiteFlight"

The website keeps you up to date with current census records and allows you to set a specific target of whiteness. Once the meter dips below that target for your area...you know it's time to sell and move to another area that fits within your comfort range. Thus maximizing your profits before the neighborhood goes to hell.

The mobile app would hopefully use your gps in order to tell you when you're in a less desirable neighborhood or about to shop at a store with too many non-white hourly workers.

The app will require users like you to report the level of whiteness at the stores you visit and within no time we'll have the nation pretty well mapped out.

I'm presuming Google will want to buy the entire premise once it proves its concept.

If you are going to adopt the "If you can't beat em join em" or "Make fun of yourself and they'll stop" defense, at least get the quote right.

What's interesting about MOP's constant threads of this type is that he never learns from them. In all of these situations, there is one common denominator, one thing that is the same about each of these stories... MOP. You'd figure, at some point, he'd realize this and understand he needs to change, or at least have some self-awareness about the root cause being himself, yet, he continues acting the same way, oblivious to the truth. It's like the old adage about the definition of insanity... it's MOP.
Well, it's also all made up. All of them are. MOP moved from poster to fisherman long ago and his unique brand of weird stories continues to rile up the masses and feed his needs. It's very bizarre and nobody will ever fully understand why he does this, but he keeps churning out multi-page threads with this fabricated nonsense, so he's doing something right(?).

however a lot of you don't have to go thru the same BS the rest of us do in bigger metro areas so lets have a reality check.
False. I live in Cincinnati and VERY RARELY run across these issues you so frequently have. Just take a step back and look. You may realize that the problem is most often...you.
You live in Cincinnati and you've never seen a group of mostly-minority employees take a half-assed approach to their jobs, like they're just going through the motions to collect a paycheck? You don't make it to many Bengals games, do you?

You are a monster.

The guy is some poor schmuck working a bunch of hours for not a lot of pay. His life already sucks. Then he has an area manager working him over on whatever silly ####### rule they have today that pisses off customers. He has no real power and he tired to give you the discount despite that obviously being a corporate rule issue. Of course by then you were in full high dudgeon and couldn't accept that you already won. So yeah call whoever, make the guys life worse because he gave you what you wanted but you were too high and mighty to take it.
This, exactly. Basically, MOP, people like you are the worst. And the sad thing is, I think you get a hard-on acting like this, as if it is a badge of honor or something.
You only know what you read on here. I don't post up every time I have a good experience. How many of these have you really seen in the last 4-5 years in here? I've cut way back. I understand why you say this Ghost but what is the alternative? To just take it? To accept below level competency every single time? I usually do but sometimes I just have had enough and considering I had/have bronchitis and was running a fever, it is possible I just had enough at that point. Well i guess I just did but you all are the quickest to make judements on people who share in here. I'm amazed anyone posts anything anymore in here.

Relax Ghost, we bump into each other in real life and I doubt you would say I am a hot head.
MOP: Now with more racism
:goodposting: What in the....

I would think that a true fisherman would make up stories that are far more involved than "I didn't get my discount on Swedish Fish."

Wow.
There's a reason he's The R:e:igning Champion.

Let me get this straight. Guy wants to confirm the price, does so, acknowledges that they don't like to mix and match but that he is willing to do it this time. So you decide to become a giant ##### and throw a fit? Got it.
Never saw that coming, did you ?
That's not what happened. He made me feel like a thief just for wanting to pay what the signs said was right. Where is the disconnect here?
Between your brain and reality.
