Running Backs Losing Jobs Midseason (1 Viewer)

Portis took over around week 4 of his rookie year.

Julius Jones took over halfway through the year, though he was injured for the first half so I'm not sure that counts. Still, Eddie George was thought to be the starter even before Jones got hurt, iirc.

I keep hearing/reading about Addai replacing Rhodes in week 4, or Williams replacing Foster due to their superior skill, not injury. Can anyone tell me the last time this happened for a winning team? I remember Portis replacing Anderson week 4, but Portis had really won the job earlier and then been injury (my memory isn't that good if that is incorrect). Obviously injury has caused this to happen, but given the number of RBs who this is "supposed" to happen to this year:Rhodes losing to Addai (really the most likely, I think)Foster losing to D> WilliamsDillon losing to MaroneyT Jones losing to BensonJ Jones losing to MB IIIMBell losing to TBell (or has this already happened?)All of the above rate to be on winning/playoff contending teams. C Brown losing to LenDale White Lundy losing to MorencyAn awful lot of precarious RB1's, but I think its a rare circumstance to actually happen. So what's the history to back this up?
Good post. However, I not sure if the Maroney replacing Dillon will happen. Dillon is 100 healthy, and Maroney is the one with the bad knee. The rest I could see happening.

Seeing where the original poster makes no mention of Deuce Macallister and Reggie Bush, which seems to me like a very similar situation as the others stated on this thread; I'm curious to find out why this situation has not been brought up yet during this thread...In a redraft, money league in which we've been playing for 15 years, Bush went early and Deuce went in the 7th round.....is there a general perception all around that Bush has already won the job???

People need to get off the Addai koll-aid...the guy has looked terrible in the preseason and is a rookie. He will not be starting this year barring injury, whic knowing Rhodes' health issues, could very well happen.

Good post. Also Rhodes has blocked for P. Manning before giving him a huge edge to keep his starting role for the season. I don't think Indy will risk their franchise QB with a rookie that is stuggling to carry the ball and is a below average blocker at this point in his career. Indy will pass alot this year and Rhodes will be out there blocking and getting dump offs because he is a better blocker.

Chaka, I don't even know why you bother . . . have any of the White posters actually watched preseason tape ?? The guy has looked average at best, and that was late in the games against 3rd stringers . . .

like someone else said, the only way he starts week 6 is if he is in the CFL . . .

Rhodes is NOT known for his blocking . . .

Lendale has done absolutely nothing since the Rose Bowl to show he is worthy of all this praise that is being heaped upon him by the fantasy football communtiy.
While one of his bigger supporters, I don't heap kisses upon him. I see the ability to be great under the surface. It's always funny to see which way people swing when it comes to Bush versus White. One has too much talent to fail, the other is too much of a headcase to succeed. But in my mind, I really can't tell you which one is the talented one and which is the headcase. They both are boneheads with great physical talent.

Rhodes losing to Addai = wasn't Addai on him in January, still not. Will start some weeks, but not expecting him to ever be the primary ball carrier. RBBC is the key until the sign or draft another guy next year.Foster losing to D> Williams = weird feeling that Foster remains the top guy for most of the season. Eerily like SDavis, he misses the most important weeks of the season and Williams falls into the Foster play-off frenzyDillon losing to Maroney = Maroney gets a few series to himself each game, but not a major change at RB unless Dillon gets hurt.T Jones losing to Benson = Jones will stay in power unless he gets hurt like last year. Not sure the politics alone can keep Benson healthy.J Jones losing to MB III = Jones 65, Barber 35. Jones provides the best chance to win and Dallas is primed to do well. If Jones doesn't get injured, Barber will just be an afterthought.MBell losing to TBell = MBell unless he proves he can't handle it. TBell is still 2A even with his limited carries. C Brown losing to LenDale White = Brown will be used until his wheels fall off (pick a week). They may use him even when the wheels do fall off as 3rd down RB, since they don't owe him a penny after the season is over. Brown is playing for a contract, so he may go either way.. play hurt or "play" hurt.Lundy losing to Morency = RBBC. Lundy looked good when the games didn't count. Morency has some natural talent. I have no idea how it will turn out.McAllister losing to Bush = RBBC. Imagine the Denver running game on a down year (still great for other NFL teams). McAllister = primary rusher, Bush productive in his 10-15 carries a game.

:goodposting:I'm out.

Barlow will take over by week 3 because Blaylock is a better change of pace.

Dayne will take over by week 4 because Lundy is pure hype.

Benson will take over by week 5 because Orton started over Blake and Grossman starts over Griese.

Bush will take over by week 6 because he and the Red Cross are bringing in all the money.

Addai will take over by week 8 because it takes a while to learn to audible every play.

Maroney will take over by week 14 because he's the best chance for making the playoffs at that point.

Drew will take over by week 15 because Taylor wont return next year and they'll be out of contention.

White will take over by week 16 because Young will need a few games with the vets first.
