S-Jax hurt (1 Viewer)

Broke that long td, went into the locker room for a while, came back out for one run and then went out of the game and on to the bike.

He's still on the sideline so we'll see what happens going forward.

Cadillac as the last "pick" in my auction draft is looking like a decent Mr. Irrelevant right now.

SJax is extremely talented but something always seems to happen to prevent him from putting it all together. 2006 is looking like his highwater mark. I think Caddy has RB2/Flex upside as long as he's out.

I think the Rams knew Philly was going to kill them so no use risking SJAX. He didnt look that bad off to me and I expect he will be in there next week.

 The Rams were in this game until the 4th quarter. To suggest that they essentially sat a player that would have given them a better chance to win is RIDICULOUS. This is the NFL, you play to win the game. HELLO! You don't "save" your best player because you "know" you're going to get blown out of a game where you were up early and only trailed by 2 scores until late in the 4th.I owned S-Jax in 08' when he had a quad injury that many said was minor and he would be back the next week. He ended up missing 3-4 games if I remember correctly.I have no idea if this quad injury is similar but I'd be very concerned if I was a S-Jax owner.

Who had "First half of Week 1" in the annual Steven Jackson injury pool?
:hey: ...and I'm a Rams fan. I know there will be a bunch of people arguing about how few games he's actually missed, and how he somehow really is durable, but he's on the downside of a career where he had the unfortunate timing to be the only solid player on a crumbling team. He got beaten up and overworked for years. I wouldn't touch Jackson under any circumstances for fantasy.

I've played all different types of sports for many years and just about had all the injuries possible, but never had a pulled quad. How the hell do you pull your quad muscles? This guy is done, pick up a used Caddy.

any update on this yet?
Read that he was having an MRI today, but haven't heard more yet. Will look for a link.linkhttp://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/492963/steven-jackson
according to that link, Spags is already saying he won't go week 2 :wall:
Spagnuolo: Jackson unlikely for Week 2: Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo told reporters on Monday that RB Steven Jackson will probably sit out his team's Week 2 game at the Giants on Monday night. Jackson hurt himself on the team's first offensive play, a 47-yard touchdown run, in Week 1 against the Eagles. Cadillac Williams would get the start in his place.

Seriously. Who can imagine an NFL RB doing anything on the field utilizing leg drive.

Here are the Rams injuries from LAST game against Eagles

-WR Danny Amendola dislocated his elbow, will most likely not need surgery

-CB Ron Bartell has a fractured neck in two places may be out for the season

-CB Bradley Fletcher fractured toe, day to day

-RB Steven Jackson strained quad, probably be out next game

-QB Sam Bradford has a contusion on his throwing hand day to day

-RT Jason Smith sprained ankle, day to day

These are all starters. The Rams are only carrying 4 CB's and the other two are mostly nickle and dime CB's. The Rams are toast. 3-13 ?

So they're saving him for the easy games? Maybe that Josh McDaniels is the genius he thinks he is.

Honestly I think its because he never gets his feet off the ground anymore when he is running, so its like a reverse hamstring injury. IDK thats my unprofessional opinion.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo announced Monday that Steven Jackson (quadriceps) is "probably" not going to play in Week 2.Cadillac Williams will get the start next Monday night. Spags confirmed that Jackson's quad is strained, and it sounds like a week-to-week situation. The Rams have a Week 5 bye, but they'll hope to get Jackson back before then. After Jackson's early-game injury in Week 1, the Rams showed they are willing to lean heavily on Cadillac with 24 touches. The 29-year-old running back will be still be more flex option than RB2 against the Giants. Sep 12 - 3:15 PM

Dude is out already... definitely pick up Cadillac if you need him...

Quads are usually pulled when a runner has to do a slow motion spin move for a commercial.

wow out til week 6unbelievablei think ill pass on cadi and plug best in til he gets hurt
Link?I've seen this rumored b/c of the week 5 bye and actually think it could be likely based on his previous injury to the same quad 3 years ago but haven't seen anything of substance yet.

Link or is this your personal diagnosis?
I think he is taking the "Hope they get him back before week 5" statement and running with it. But honestly, quad injuries are just about the same as Hammys in length of recovery time, according to what I've noticed, so 4 weeks seems right.

espn's take

Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams: Fantasy owners were no doubt excited to see Jackson scramble for a 47-yard touchdown play right out of the gate. As I watched the play, however, Jackson's last few strides looked suddenly labored, as though something was holding him back. Turns out, a strained right quadriceps was the culprit. Jackson remained in the game for one more carry but then was done for the day. Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo has not offered any specifics as to the degree of Jackson's thigh injury but has called him week-to-week and indicated he is likely to miss the Rams' Monday night contest in Week 2. Unfortunately, Jackson is no stranger to soft-tissue injuries, as he has missed time with quad, hamstring and groin injuries in the past. Although there is no way to predict at this moment just how much time he could miss, fantasy owners should plan on his absence for Monday and potentially a couple of weeks beyond. Cadillac Williams came into the game when Jackson left with the injury and finished with 140 total yards of offense.

I think they were referring to Amendola on having him after week 5 bye. I haven't seen anything indicating Sjax will wait til the bye to return. From Spags news conference they were going to take it day-to-day after next weeks game.

Might as well "SUCK 4 LUCK" or at least the opportunity to trade the pick

RAMS TAKE STOCK OF INJURIES

September 13 - St. Louis Post-DispatchAs if Sunday's 31-13 loss to Philadelphia wasn't tough enough for coach Steve Spagnuolo and the Rams, along came Monday's injury report. "I've been whacked with all kinds of news today," Spagnuolo said. "So I'm dusting off and getting ready to go forward." A voluminous report included good news on Sam Bradford and Jason Smith, so-so news on Steven Jackson and Danny Amendola and surprisingly bad news on Ron Bartell. After concern about the possibility of nerve damage after Bradford's throwing hand was slammed into by the hand of a Philadelphia pass rusher, there was a sigh of relief at Rams Park when it was learned that Bradford merely has a bruised right index finger. The Rams quarterback had good range of motion Monday, and with a little rest and treatment could be good to go next Monday night against the New York Giants. "That will be a day-to-day deal," Spagnuolo said. "We'll see where we're at on Wednesday. We'll keep our fingers crossed, no pun intended." Smith does not have a high ankle sprain as originally feared. So instead of being out for what could have been a few weeks, the right tackle is day-to-day for the Giants. As for Jackson, an MRI exam Monday showed that the Pro Bowl running back has a strained quadriceps muscle in his right leg and probably will miss the Giants game. "Then it probably will become a week-to-week thing," Spagnuolo said. "I've always trusted Steve with injuries and how he feels. He knows better than anybody how his body reacts." Amendola, meanwhile, has a dislocated left elbow. He has no fracture or break, and as of Monday afternoon head athletic trainer Reggie Scott didn't think surgery would be needed. Even if that's the case, Amendola could be sidelined for several weeks; for now, Spagnuolo ruled out the wide receiver only for the Giants game.
