Safe to now drop Gado... (1 Viewer)

It appears that Dayne (UGGHH) may have cemented the starting gig in HOU yesterday (22/58 and 3/11). Not great numbers by any stretch by certainly better than Gado's (6/9 and 1/4). Kubiak had said before the game that he would give Dayne and Gado equal amount of carries vs. MIA to see if one of them would emerge. Well, it looks like he had more confidence in going with Dayne in a tight game.

Looks like Dayne holds the job for at least several more games. Any HOU homers care to weigh in?

I'd wait. I am waiting, since I have him.

Houston has a bye week this week. I'm going to give Gado another 2 weeks to get acclimated, see what happens when they get back.

Neither of these guys will be great - but I mean, c'mon, he's behind Ron Dayne. There's always hope behind Ron Dayne.

Dayne is worth having in large leagues so I completly disagree with that statement. He is a starting RB and as such should be owned in 12+ leagues.

If you have Dayne though and are hurting at RB it might be possible to obtain Gado on the cheap now.

No matter what you think of Gado, anyone who thinks that Ron Freaking Dayne "nailed down a starting job" with a 55-yard rushing performance against the struggling Dolphins needs to get their head checked.

I think I'm going to drop Dayne. I'll never play him and I can't sell him for even a kicker.

Sure he's the starter but let's face it-if you're relying on Ron Dayne you've likely got bigger problems to worry about.

Let us know what you decide to do.
Would you like a PM or would you prefer I announce it in some vaguely relevant thread as I did here?I'm waiting anxiously for your reply.
Why bother with a PM? I'm sure posting what you decide to do with Ron Dayne will help everyone here.
I'll be sure to do that. Thanks for the moral support. Sometimes I like to see what others are doing with their players...it helps me get a general idea of (perceived) value. Glad to see you're not one of those jerks who attacks posts that are otherwise completely harmless.

Rule of thumb- no team is long going to stand for their running back averagine less than 3 yards a carry. I dont know if Gado can do better, but somebody will get the chance- somebody not on the roster yet if these guys cant get it done.

Its equivalent to having a QB with a sub 30% completion rate- you just cant play a guy performing that badly for very long.

So will Cadillac lose his job next week? I think Dayne stinks, I simply think the other options are even worse. Not sure they're going to trade for anybody this year. Dayne should be good in the grandest of emergencies but not sure he'll ever get you more than 5-9 points.

As a Houston homer, I would stay away from all their RB's. Let someone else deal with this headache. The O'line isn't getting much push at all or creating much in the way of holes and neither Dayne nor Gado have looked that good.

One thing of note from the game yesterday that I saw was that Gado COMPLETELY blew at pass-protection. On one play Gado completely missed his block but Carr somehow got the ball out in time just before he got his bell rung. Carr was shaken up on the play but was able to get up and continue. Gado won't see much playing time if he doesn't improve on his blitz pickup. The O'line is already swiss cheese, we can't afford to have the RB's missing their blocks too.

So will Cadillac lose his job next week?
If Caddy doesnt start producing in the next couple of weeks, he's going to be diagnosed with some vague ailment and his PT cut in favor of Pittman and Graham. Caddy is a big investment, so no they arent going to give up on him, but they are not going to let him play an entire season getting stuffed like this. If it gets really bad they will shut him down for his own good, before he gets hurt physically or psychologically.Guys like Dayne and Gado dont get even that much consideration. Houston is almost certainly scouring the league for options. Why not bring in a practice squad or arena league guy just to see what happens when what you have makes trying to run a total waste of time?

:goodposting: Caddy's underperformance is not really similar to Dayne's underperformance - with Caddy it's more likely to be viewed as a temporary problem, with Dayne it's more likely to be viewed as....him being himself.
