Salas failed, so it's Pettis' turn (1 Viewer)

Rams rookie Austin Pettis revealed that his reps were increased in practice this week, indicating he may make his debut in Week 3.

The Rams' third-round pick, Pettis was a healthy scratch in Weeks 1 and 2. "I got some decent reps with the offense this week, so hopefully I can get in there and make some plays," he said. Pettis also fielded punts in practice, on the heels of fellow rookie Greg Salas' fumbled punt last Monday night. If Pettis is active against Baltimore, it could send Salas back to the bench.

Ok, I'm willing to sit back with interest to see what happens. He's 6'3" 210 with some skills at Boise St and is a 3rd rd pick. Any weapon for Bradford is welcome.

no - I don't know why I should, and this is a guy that loves to find hidden gems . . .
Dynasty league owners are always interested in players like this. Especially with QBs like Bradford.
I'm a dynasty player, but you can only hold so many slots for lottery tickets . . .
Pettis is good for a spot in most 12 team 24 roster leagues, but I do agree it depends on the league/roster size.

would love to add him, but I only have a roster of 20 spots - and I have Cobb and A Brown taking up space until they (hopefully) blow up . . .

I'm going against the grain in one Dynasty 20 roster 12 team PPR league. I dropped Dallas Clark (already have Finley and Gresham) for Pettis. My team is really strong so I can absorb the mistake should it turn out that way. Really though, you don't think I can't replace Clark with someone? I may drop Pettis in two weeks for another flyer, especially in a 20 man roster 12 team league ;)

That's crazy, Hoss.

Pettis has what Salas doesn't have, hands, but that's really it. He's one of those types that in the best case scenario tops out at 60 catches for 700 yds and 2-3 TD's. He's good in the short and intermediate game, but doesn't have the explosion, speed, quickness, or leaping ability to make plays down field.

Don't you have to see what he does with Bradford? It's not like he doesn't have the pedigree. It's better to pickup someone like Pettis for some other scrub and drop him later for another flyer than to miss out because he blows up one week in the near future.Edited for spelling correction.

wow, Clark has NO trade value??
Not in a 12 team / 20 man roster league he doesn't. Trust me I tried. I couldn't get a 2nd round pick for him giving up a 3rd. I'd rather pickup a flyer than take a 3rd rd rookie pick in this league. He may go unclaimed, but not likely. Someone will no doubt live in the past.

It's a balance. If Pettis were potentially the difference between winning and losing this year it'd be one thing, but he's at best a long term project, not an instant impact. Dumping a spare part for an unknown like Pettis makes sense but not a TE with proven top 5 potential.

I needed some RB help in a dynasty league so I dropped Pettis for Isacc Redman. I intially drafted Pettis in the 5th round of our rookie draft. I like the guy but figured there were just so many WR's on the Rams that he wouldn't get much of a chance this year. Was planning on picking him up later in the year for 2012. I think Pettis is kind of a possession/over the middle type guy ala Hines Ward so he could hold value for the Rams. He's on our WW so I put in a claim for him for next week. Gonna drop E.Bennett as he ain't doing shiot either.

One major drop that killed a long drive. He tried to catch and turn for an end zone attempt but left without the ball. Bradford looked pretty damn upset. I think due to the coaches lack of confidence in the past and Bradford being upset and not looking for him in key situations tells the story. There was another time where he was wide open in the end zone and Bradford looked off him.

Bradford looks so uncomfy. Last year he was brand spanking new in another new offense with all new teammates and he looked comfy so McD is just not cutting it.

Salas, assuming he is out for the year, does he maintain any dynasty value? no room for him on IR as those spots already taken up my amendola and mikel leshoure

I picked him up this week but will be sitting him on the bench until I see how things play out a little bit.

Rotoworld:

Austin Pettis caught four passes for 49 yards with two touchdowns in Sunday's Week 5 win over the Jaguars.
Operating from four yards out, Pettis made a nice snag over the middle for his first score. Later, he roasted overmatched Jags CB Will Blackmon on a vertical route for a 31-yard score that put the game out of reach. Pettis is up to four touchdowns on the season, but he's yet to top 78 yards and has an extremely tough matchup at Houston in Week 6. We wouldn't chase these points.
