*** San Francisco 49ers *** Kittle locked down til 2029; Purdy contract watch underway (12 Viewers)

Does Purdy still get mega paid?

Hell no. Dude has been shown as a fraud
I definitely dont think hes a fraud. I think hes looked pretty good this year with a TON of extenuating circumstances and his #s arent bad. Theyve had no consistency at RB all year. They lost their #1 WR after he started off slow due to holding out. His other weapon looks washed up. He hurt his shoulder, then they played in snow, then they played in rain. Its been a bizarre season with absolutely no consistency week to week. Im hoping they take care of him. He is the least of their problems.
Maybe he’s slightly more than “just a guy” but he’s not anybody who can win you something when things go south (see this year) and 50+ is still a big number for a guy like that.

Quite a few QBs in the league should be sending Mahomes/Allen/Jackson gift baskets for setting the QB contract market so high. Teams are so worried about losing decent QB play that they’re willing to pay elite QB money to Lee decent QBs.
Yeah, it’s a fair question how much non-top tier QBs are worth. I mean, the difference between Purdy and a replacement level QB is vast and worth 3-4 wins IMO. But he’s not a top 2-3 QB that can carry you deep in the playoffs by himself either. I don’t subscribe to the title or bust philosophy so I think he’s worth paying something approaching the market rate.
Daniel Jones comparison comes to mind - showed enough to get a contract and if thats the case its gonna be a big one. Hope it turns out better
Purdy is significantly better than Jones by just about any measure.

Does Purdy still get mega paid?
Of course but not market resetting IMO. Somewhere around 45-50 mil/yr I'd guess right now.

My guess is it won't be any lower than Tua's or Lawrence's.
I think hes better than both these guys
Me too, but those guys are still so overpaid that a deal exceeding theirs would make me nervous.
Cant do anything about the $ aspect. Just the way it is in nfl

Nobody is their right mind thought Jones was good and everyone abused that contract when it happened.

IMO 49ers lost this game because they tried to force feed a washed up Deebo
I think that's an oversimplification. Deebo had an awful game and is looking like he's lost a step (though I think he's still an NFL starter, just not a difference maker anymore) but this was a team effort. Other than Kittle, I don't think anyone played well on offense.

100% agree with this. Purdy is more akin to someone like Tua, who while not an elite QB, has proven he clearly makes his team better.

Even Puni had a bad game and gave up his first 2 sacks of the season.

The 49ers offensive line allowed 18 pressures against the Rams:

• Dominick Puni: 5 (2 sacks allowed)
• Colton McKivitz: 4
• Aaron Banks: 3
• Jaylon Moore: 3
• Jake Brendel: 3

Just a terrible off day for the entire team.

Lombardi:

Brock Purdy's struggles on deep throws last night (0-7 on 20+ yarders) were not emblematic of his larger performance this season. He's been good there.

Purdy had a bad game, just like all good QBs. He's still been a pillar stability in the absolute sea of chaos known as the 2024 49ers.

----------

On deep pass attempts this season: Purdy is 5th in catchable percentage and 5th in EPA on those passes.

Chart:

Al Sacco:

This whole video is so alarming. 49ers looked like a poorly coached team that’s checked out on offense last night.

Baldy: is this really a 49ers Offense. The mistakes; the missed assignments; the bad timing. I dont recognize this football team.

If you would had told us going into be season that we’d start questioning whether to fire the SF coaches, nobody would have believed it.

Schefter

Kyle Shanahan told reporters that he does not expect LB De'Vondre Campbell, who refused to enter Thursday night’s game, to play again for the 49ers this season.

I mean, the weather certainly played a role. I'd argue Purdy was no worse (and probably better) than Stafford, who just had better luck, but could have easily had anywhere from 2-4 INT's.

The 49ers are the only team since 2000 with a positive Yards per Play Differential and to have a losing record (+1.27)

Crazy. There is work to do in the offaeason but it's not as bad as people make it out to be IMO. Some tweaks are necessary for sure, but I they can absolutely bounce back and be contenders again next season.

Purdy, Kittle, CMC, Aiyuk, Jennings, Warner, Trent, Lenoir, Bosa will all be back next season, and I'm sure they will find a way to keep Greenlaw. That's a pretty good core of players.

The window isn't closed like some are hoping. It's not as open as it's been the past couple years, but this team isn't gonna fall offf a cliff into cellar-dweller-ville next season. Watch.

Who would have thought y’all would be here after how confident you were last season. What a mess.

It's a down year, not a big deal. Its really hard to be awesome every year.

It's funny, I haven't been in the Eagles thread since last season, but several of yall still come in this thread to talk your petty trash, which by the way, doesn't hurt anyone's feelings here.

The 49ers must have left some real emotional scars on yall last season. I hope you can all get past it at some point, it's just football.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of the season!

Just curious to see how you are handling it after how you behaved last season. Enjoy the rest of your season as well!

CMC is the key. He makes a good offense, a dynamic one. This core has one more shot in 2025, before they should start moving on from some of those players.

The 49ers boom or bust seasons continue.

It has been 22 straight seasons of the 49ers either making it to the NFC Championship or not making the playoffs at all. They're never a one and done playoff team.

NFC Championship appearances in that time by head coach:

Erickson 0
Nolan 0
Singletary 0
Harbaugh 3
Tomsula 0
Kelly 0
Shanahan 4

Charvarius Ward opened up about the trauma he’s endured since the passing of his daughter:

“It’s been hard for me personally to go to work every day, every game. Even to go to practice or to meetings. I almost left a couple of times. S***, I know fans probably hate me for saying that, but f*** it, it’s real life. It’s bigger than football. This is the hardest time of my life for sure.” 🙏

The heartbreak of this is unreal. Candidly, I almost enjoy these kind of seasons we’re having now more than the 7 listed.

2012 heartbreak on a flight home to NY loaded with Giants fans. 2013 was devastation and depression for like a week. Actually won a large SB box that was split with a friend for HT and it did zero for my mood. I didn’t meet up with him for like 10 days to collect my money (pre Zelle days). 2014, bar fiasco after the pick that sealed the game. I could go on for 3 of the other 4 and they all basically have a memory of like wtf to them. 2020 is the only time I was still happy after the game. Last minute family vacation in the Caribbean to watch the game on the beach. Me and the little guys were bummed, but we woke up and resumed our fun. The only one of the 7 I walked away kind of unscathed.

The trip to the stick in 2012 was ****ing awesome, up until the major letdown. All of them were awesome tbh, but the letdowns are major and almost override all the other ****.

Point I’m making is that these kind of seasons, I’m okay with not even caring. I knew they’d suck, and I was good with it coming into the season. I don’t think I posted after the SB up until week 1. No letdowns, kids aren’t let down either as I had them prepared for a **** season, and we all move along not caring at all. We basically had a good laugh about the GB game.

Also, reading the last few pages, I’m setting a calendar reminder to come troll some heartbroken Eagles fans when they lose. It’s the most pathetic thing, their obsession with this thread, what’s their deal? I might’ve been in that thread 2x in like 5 years, but I’ll be rolling through there when their season is over.

Obsessed? You guys were pretty aggressive last year and this is the first I’ve checked in, check the game threads if you forgot. Anyways, best to you all and good luck the rest of the way! I’m a Deebo Kittle and CMC owner, I’ve been pulling for you as hard as anyone!

I still think/hope you can make a nice run to end the season here.

Bye, Felicia.

The 49ers are likely going to suspend De'Vondre Campbell rather than release him. This would prevent him from signing with another team this season, as well as save some of the signing bonus money that he is still owed, per @RapSheet

John Lynch confronted De’Vondre Campbell and kicked him off the sideline after learning the LB refused to enter the game, per @JayGlazer:

"John Lynch actually went down there in the fourth quarter and confronted him on saying you don't want to go in the game," Glazer said on-air. "You're refusing? Yes. It was Lynch who sent him in the locker room."

"By the way, I got players who called me after and said, 'Hey, we've heard you talk about this alter ego John Lynch, this 47 Red character. Man, we saw it. That dude is crazy.' They all saw it firsthand."

100% agree with this. Purdy is more akin to someone like Tua, who while not an elite QB, has proven he clearly makes his team better.
He led his team to a Super Bowl.

WTF has Tua done?

Oh a 7-20 lifetime record vs teams above .500

That’s not better. That’s called mediocrity purgatory.

Purdy has proven a lot more in two seasons than Tua has in 5 concussed filled seasons. 55MM per year will buy you that?

The NFL has lost their minds period paying QB’s like this that kind of money (Jones, Prescott and Tua).

Chew on that for a few moments.

They got hit very hard with injuries. I expect a healthy 49ers team to contend next season.

Just a terrible year for them with brutal injuries.

Tua hahahaha garbage. Can’t beat good teams man….it’s been proven over and over and over.

Stats are for losers. He is a stat accumulator vs weak teams and folds like a lawn chair vs teams above .500

Garbage.

Good. Put him on the suspension list for conduct detrimental to the team and don’t release him till after the season is over.

Punk.

#NFL    DVOA through Week 15

#SF ranks 8th in overall DVOA:
OFF #11
DEF #6
ST #30

#49ers are the only team in the top 16 with a losing record.

Full Chart:

Guerendo unlikely to play Sunday.

Fire up Patrick Taylor and Isreal Abanikanda.

Yikes. It just keeps getting worse.

Separation vs. Cushion through 15 Weeks

The #49ers' pass catchers face the tightest coverage in the NFL, receiving the least cushion of any team. As a result, they struggle to create space, ranking 31st in average separation at the point of the catch. (Data by @NextGenStats)

Only the Steelers have less seperation than the 49ers. I'm surprised to see the Eagles and Bengals so low in that chart.

Who would have thought y’all would be here after how confident you were last season. What a mess.
Imagine what Hurts would do with no AJ Brown, Barley, Mialata, Q, Slay, Blankenship, Zach Baun, Gardner-Johnson, but with a fat, slow Devante Smith..oh, and replace Lane Johnson with YOU. LOL

Per Matt Barrows:

49ers injury report vs. Dolphins:

Out
RB Isaac Guerendo (foot, hamstring)
OT Trent Williams (ankle)

Questionable
DE Nick Bosa (hip, oblique)
LB Dre Greenlaw (Achilles, knee)
DE Robert Beal (ankle)

Approximately 70% of players the 49ers listed as questionable have played.

I had to search for this thread after almost 8 pages plus. The 49er fans here are worse than Bears fans. We know why.

The NFL has lost their minds period paying WB’s like this that kind of money.

Chew on that for a few moments.

Tua is 3 times a purdy
Great, now all I keep hearing is Lionel Ritchie in my head singing "Once, Twice, Three times a Purdy"

This wild

For 22 straight seasons, the 49ers have only either made the NFC Championship game or missed the playoffs.

They have missed the playoffs 15 times, and made the conference championship 7 times since 2003.
