Sounds like Trent Williams will be a game time decision.

Not good. Even if he plays he's prob not gonna be 100%. When he plays hurt he's not very effective.

49ers are also listing the three players who opened their practice windows this week on IR -- CB Samuel Womack, CB Darrell Luter and DE Robert Beal Jr. -- as questionable. The 3 have not been activated yet. However, Kyle Shanahan noted that they must be listed on the game status report due to a rule change.

The 49ers did not activate any of their 3 eligible youngsters — Samuel Womack III, Darrell Luter Jr. or Robert Beal Jr. — this week.

All 3 players had their practice windows to return from injury lists opened a few days ago. The deadline to activate them is 2 weeks from now.

Shanahan on Purdys 1st TD throw, an ill advised pass back across the field that somehow wasnt picked off:

“Yeah, that was honestly one of — I can say this because he played well — but that was one of his worst decisions I think he’s made since he’s been here,” Shanahan said with a mild smile. “And it took me a while to get over it. But I thanked him for the touchdown. But that was not a good decision. He was fortunate with it.

“Made a lot of good plays, and if you are going to make a bad decision and it’s still a touchdown, in the grand scheme of things he can tell me it was a real good decision. But I know we can’t. He knows that. He knows what he did wrong. But he made it right.”

Yep. Thomas has been playing poorly too but he's still an upgrade on Oliver.
 
Purdy now leads the NFL in both passer rating (109.9) and QBR (76.3).

Womack will be back soon, hopefully next week...him and Lenior will be CB2 and NCB.

Thomas and Oliver can keep the bench warm.
 
At the game yesterday, I watched several players pretty closely, and the early eye test looks like the Young trade was another slam dunk. Dude looks like a premier pass rusher - strong, fast, bendy, and just a menace. It looked to me like he was getting chips from the Jags more than Bosa was, which might explain why Bosa had such a huge day. Teams are gonna have to pick their poison. It was really fun to watch.

Some Jags fans around us...oof...just LOUD, non stop bitching, whining, f-bombs galore...after every play it seemed. It was just annoying AF until they left early in the 4th quarter.

An interesting part of the day was when the row directly behind us won some sort of thing where 2 Jaguar cheerleaders and a hype guy came up and sat in the row behind me and my wife, and then the hype guy got the crowd around us fired up and they showed the section on the big screen and announced the contest and row on the PA and everyone went crazy.

DUUUVALLLL chants, people in the stadium pools, the mascot bungee/zip lining from the top of one of the light towers to the field before the game...it was quite an interesting first time in Duval.

The game itself was a blast to watch. Takeaways: Greenlaw is FAST, Warner is everywhere, Aiyuk is always open, CMC is on a level of his own...and the D line, just wow.

13 QBs have thrown for at least 2,200 yards this season. The only one who's done that with less than 300 pass attempts is Brock Purdy (he has 250).

Purdy leads the NFL with 9.3 yards per attempt. The next closest is Tua at 8.5.

The 49er offensive line ranks #22 in pass-block win rate. Purdy is doing all of these things behind a bottom 10 O-line in pass protection. Imagine what he could do behind a top 10 line.

Brock Purdy on throws of 20+ air yards on Sunday vs JAX:

He had a perfect 158.3 Rtg on these throws and also a PFF grade of 98.5 pushing the ball down the field.

Brock Purdy was pressured a career-high 50% of his dropbacks. Threw for a career-high 143 yards when pressured and was 8-of-12 with 2 TD. Now has 8 TD and 1 pick when pressured in his career.

Christian McCaffrey is #1 in the NFL with 36 missed tackles forced this season.

He’s gained 512 yards after contact, which is #1 in the NFL by far among running backs.

Total: 2nd (behind BAL)
Offense: 1st
Defense: 10th (up from 16th!)

49ers’ defense took a huge step forward and their offense continues to be the most efficient in the NFL. Pretty good combination, imo

Having 2 guys who can each beat their guy on any given play gives us such an edge. I was extremely excited when we made this trade. The massive “Young not good” trolling afterwards solidified that notion to me. Loved what I saw out of the defensive front yesterday, who wouldn’t? I’d be scared of a Bosa/Young combo, can’t double them both unless you want Hargrave/Armstead feasting.

Reading the columns today, Thomas was actually pretty good in coverage and Lenoir got smoked just about as badly as Oliver was:

Lenoir was the nickelback Sunday because the 49ers thought he was a better matchup than Oliver against speedster Christian Kirk. That may have been true, but Lenoir still had trouble. He gave up seven catches on seven targets for 107 yards, and Trevor Lawrence had a passer rating of 118.8 on those targets.

Thomas was flagged for pass interference in the second half. But he only allowed only two catches for 14 yards.

It’s a legitimate concern. They may want to cut him back to 12-15 touches a game.

McCaffrey loves it, so he will continue to be used heavily. Just the way it is.

However, in games like last week, he should have never seen the field after it got to 20-3. I know they wanted to get him the record, but perfect chance to let Mitchell and Mason carry the load.
 
Now that he is healthy, I wouldn't be opposed to spelling CMC more often in the backfield with Deebo. Maybe for 7-8 carries a game, if you line up CMC out wide on those plays, its not like defenses can overcommit either way.

ETA: Outsiders perspective, but with Deebo and Trent back, and Young on board, this is the best team in the NFL in my opinion.
 
Sundays game might be an indication of how CMC will be used going forward vs how he was used the first 5 weeks.

Against the Jags, he had 16 carries and 10 targets, but 4 or 5 of those were trying to force the TD record at the end, so take those away and he'd have 14-15 carries and 7-8 targets.

Over the first 5 games, he averaged 19.8 carries and 4.8 targets per game.

Hopefully Sundays trend continues with him getting fewer carries and more passing targets. 20 total touches is fine, as long as it's around a 60/40 split of carries/targets, which will help lessen the amount of hits he takes out of the backfield.

Maybe Kyle smartened up a bit.
 
Nick Bosa is the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, joining Merton Hanks as the only 49ers player to win the award five times.
 
Barrows:

G/C Nick Zakelj needs surgery on his biceps and will miss the rest of the season. Team will have a quasi tryout this week to replace him on the active roster. Practice squadders Ilm Manning, Corey Luciano among the candidates.
